Background check
I'm applying for a regular job right now, so I'm wondering if they can find out about my stripping through the background check?
I'm in Vegas right now, and have sherrifs card. One time I requested background check for my own records, and it showed each club that I applied for in Vegas "work card" history.. Will potential employers see the same thing? I am about to freak out right now.:-[ I didn't mention stripping nowhere on my application..

Re: Background check
It will depend on the job & the depth of the background check.
If you didn't dance for a long period of time, & have no run-ins w/ the law related to dancing, you could maybe bs that you got the licence, got hired & either worked briefly but decided it wasn't for you, or you got hired & then completely chickened out. If the check turns up your club employment(s) it will certainly turn up any related tickets, so if it does come up, either go w/ one of the above, or just own it. That's my advice, & the older I get the less I tend to care abt what prospective employers think bc I have nothing dirty to hide. But Idk abt your situation so you might want to run a search since this has been covered pretty extensively.

Re: Background check
Yes it could (and I'm sure if Melonie sees this she will post some articles about this). It depends on what kind of jobs as some only run basic background checks. It also depends on what is on background checks. Because I danced in states that didn't require permits (Illinois and Indiana)this was never a problem. However at one club I was paid as an employee and that shows up (or did, this was over 20 years ago)but it just listed the name of the company and luckily it was a family business that owned other places, mostly restaurants (and no other strip clubs). I also had a license for the agency I started but it was listed as an entertainment agency and technically we hired other people like DJ's and clowns but rarely got calls for them.
I have worked in government and education, two of the strictest with background checks. If they didn't give me a hard time (and in the case of education was told anything questionable in my background would prevent hiring)I can't imagine other places doing so. I don't know how they'd feel if I needed a permit though.

Re: Background check
^^^' these days it's really a 'crap shoot' ... depending on such variables as the depth of background check the prospective employer will perform, the 'ease of access' of particular records ( i.e. outside of Vegas / Nevada, no employer is likely to trouble themselves going through county based dancer's license records ), etc.
