Republicans be like: "that's not true, you can get a monthly cycle for five dollars at Walmart.". I shit you not: I heard many republicans saying the most asinine things about female birth control methods.
I really do believe birth control should be available behind the counter. The biggest argument is it'll make kids want to have sex more. We should take condoms off the shelves too! Because...

^^^One of the best comedy routines in history. 'Every sperm is sacred.' :D
And like most really good comedy, it also has a valid point.
Where I live, the pills are sold over the counter. It's recommended to see the doctor and choose what suits you best indeed, but it's not mandatory. If you need emergency contraception, you can just go and buy it. Now I see how blessed I am for having this(((.
P.S. If one expects to get kids "want sex less" by hiding things, maybe they should start with the mass media that tell boys and girls being sexually active/sexually appealing respectively is what determines their worth.
The reality is pills are a hormonal form of birth control and condoms aren't. As a result condoms have a lower rate of problems (unless one is allergic)than pills. Some people can't take pills (I couldn't because of other problems)and if we sold them over the counter would not be a good idea. It has nothing to do with how some people oppose birth control etc.
I was just talking to my family about what a racket my gyno has going that they can hold my birth control prescription hostage every year until I come in, sit in their waiting room for an hour, sit in the exam room for an hour for some more waiting, let them poke around in my vagina for about five seconds, and then pay $50 for the privilege. If a customer ever treated me the way my gynecologist does I would have him thrown out of the club so fast.
