I knew we'd butt heads on this one! I've taken college-level courses that would disagree with you (there are books full of scientific and medical study citations that back what I said).
That said, I don't have any interest in going back and forth with you on this one, especially since nutritional science is constantly evolving. We could each find studies to support our points, thus rendering the disagreement useless and thus unnecessary.
I just wanted to speak up to encourage the OP to do her own research. :)
I'm happy for you. Considering your involvement in the field, I'm amazed you haven't heard of the numerous studies done on the topic.
I'm unsubscribing from this thread. Good luck, OP! Run a few searches before you do anything extreme. There are two sides to every controversy. :)
I have, read them all (It's my job you know...) , and know many of the people doing the actual research. Hence, a tad more qualified than you are to offer and opinion on that topic. I also supplied a link to the major sports nutrition org (ISSN) position paper on that very topic for you that covers those very studies. The ISSN is made of the researchers who do the studies that said text books, etc will use. Ignore it as you wish, and or, supply an actual modern study supporting those claims, which FYI, have been fully debunked.
But a few sections in a college level nutrition 101 course text book (generally very out of date BTW), that's the true authority. :-\
Oh well people will have their own opinions. Thanks for the advice I'm probably going to continue with the high protein because I know I don't get enough of that as it is. And I also know I am at a healthy weight but on the thinner slide and think with more meat on my bones I'll look better. :)
