30 Day November Fitness Challenge!
Hi chicas, I normally don't go outside of CC, but I thought there's no reason not to open this up to the general SW population plus it probably belongs in this section anyways. :)
I've seen a couple of these around here and I thought I'd start another one because hell if I don't gain a TON of weight around this time of year, and it makes sense to already be in the routine by the time Thanksgiving/Xmas roll around so you don't just let yourself go during this time of year when you're putting stress on your body (and your jeans).
So! 11/1-11/30
Post your plans/goals below (plans can include diet and/or fitness), feel free to update with triumphs/slips, and I'll be right here with ya to encourage you/hate me for starting this when the going gets tough.

Re: 30 Day November Fitness Challenge!
Plan!
Fitness:
Jillian Jacob's Body Revolution (It's 90 days but I figured no one would do a 90 day challenge. Correct me if I'm wrong and we can just change it!) I wanna do most of this, but my guess is that I won't be able to do the pm cardio workout most of the time since I work so damned much.
Diet:
Fish fish fish! Salads, coconut oil when I get that INTENSE sweet tooth, and fruit with cottage cheese when I'm like, coconut oil, wtf, you're not the same. I know JJ says don't drink alcohol, but no. That just isn't gonna work for me. I'll just drink bloody mary's rather than bourbon stouts.:)
Andddd hardcore quitting and using my damned vape. Because no one likes wrinkles. Or cancer.
Goals!
Since my scale broke, I'm going to try to do this without it for once. I get too hardcore about it (mine had fat, muscle, and body water%) and I think measurements will probably be a better way to gauge while being a slower and less OCD-encouraging way to go about it anyways.
Main goal is just to get more toned, esp my tummy and hip/thigh area.
Measurements:
Bust 33 (fantastic, no wonder none of my bras fit) Chest 29 Waist 26 Hip 37.75
I know. I'm not even a pear, I'm a Hershey's Kiss. :D

Re: 30 Day November Fitness Challenge!
oo this is a good one for me! I REALLY need to force myself to go to the gym consistently.. I even have a membership at my school's gym so I really have no excuse. So my goal is gym 3 or 4 times a week.
I want to gain 10 lbs! Not sure if I can do that in a month but for November my goal will be to gain at least 5 lbs.
I want to increase all my weights in the gym by 20 lbs. Actually drink protein shakes everyday (I'm so lazy). And drink ensures multiple times a day!
Hopefully posting on this thread will keep me motivated! This doesn't sound too challenging I guess but for someone as lazy as me it really is lol all I want to do is watch netflix when I'm not at school and eat whatever sounds good.

Re: 30 Day November Fitness Challenge!
Thanks for joining<3
And get good quality protein! I used to want to go into preventive medicine/nutrition so believe me when I say that most protein powders out there are GARBAGE since they're not FDA reviewed. Just go online for 5 mins to look at some reviews. :)

Re: 30 Day November Fitness Challenge!
I tried a couple times and just gave up and did youtube vids (because they have more on form but I think I got it now).
Honestly, I'm just about the WORST person to ask about workout vids, as I've always just done a combo of calisthenics, LOTS of low level cardio (average 10 miles walking a day and/or hiking) and super short HIIT every once in a while.

Awesome! Thank you. I hate vids, too, but I want to do something first thing in the morning without having to leave my house. I post my goals later today! :D

Re: 30 Day November Fitness Challenge!
Just completed an anaerobic week. Lots of sprint type training. Next week, is longer runs on grass or trails. Tomorrow is a race for my youth team, so I'll get in an easy 7 miles Sunday morning. All my workouts begin with drills. Track and grass workouts have an 800 meter warm-up before drills. Long runs, I skip the opening 800. I finish workouts with stretches. The science is mixed on when its best to stretch. But, what is clear is don't switch stretching from beginning to end or end to beginning of the workout. Stretch when you usually do it.
Monday is a 5K with a personal target of 24 minutes,
Tuesday is coaching day, so I'll just be running back and forth on the track with the kids.
Wednesday is fifteen minutes at 100% effort. I should get in 4K all on a track.
Thursday is a coaching day.
Friday is a fartlek run with my daughter.
Saturday is a rest day.
Sunday is a long easy run, looking for 7-10 miles with my cross country team.
Monday is a 5K with a personal target of 24 minutes.
Tuesday is a coaching day. Team is tapering for our state championship meet.
Wednesday 4X800s in 3 minutes each with a 2 minute recovery between each 800,
Thursday is a coaching day. Easy - very easy workout for the team. Just one 800 at 800 race pace.
Friday is a fartlek run with my daughter.
Saturday is a long run for me, 7-10 miles.
Sunday is race day!
Monday is a 5 minutes easy, 10 minutes hard, 5 minutes easy grass workout.
Tuesday is a coaching day.
Wednesday is 5X600s 2 minutes each, with a 2 minute recovery between.
Thursday is a coaching day.
Friday is a fun run with my daughter to get hot chocolate across town.
Saturday is rest day.
Sunday is 7-10 miles.
Monday is 4 easy, 12 fast, 4 easy on grass.
Tuesday is our last coaching day before Footlocker South - time trials }:D
Wednesday 10X300 meters with a 20 second recovery between each 300.
Thursday is Thanksgiving, 10 miles in the morning before Thanksgiving gathering.
Friday is travel to Charlotte day and a we'll jog the course at McAlpin Park. Probably some down hill 100s to get that fast feeling.
Saturday is race day!
Sunday is 7-10 miles easy.
December will be two weeks of taper for the team on their way to the Junior Olympic Cross Country Nationals. I will be back in an aerobic mode for the first week of December then I'll do anaerobic the second and aerobic the third and take the fourth week off. I have a 5 mile fun race on New Year's Day though. With the start of the new year, I'll get serious about shaving time off. I am looking for a five minute mile by May 1.

Re: 30 Day November Fitness Challenge!
I want to
-go back to the gym and lift heavy at least 8x this month.
-hike on fridays
-drink water everyday (this is my worst habit- forgetting to drink water!)
-average 1,300kcal
-lose inches off my waist and hips and thighs
Current weight is 124 lbs, current measurements are 36-26-40 with 23" thighs.....my legs shouldn't be the size of my waist (and my waist should be back at 24" where it belongs)....I'd going to try for the Selma Hyak look since we're similar heights (I'm 5') and body types.

Re: 30 Day November Fitness Challenge!
This challenge came at just the right time for me. I'm taking time off from work to concentrate on school and getting healthy. So far I worked out last Thursday and Friday. Took my first spin class (which I loved) and did some light strength training. My main goals are to lose 20lbs and tone up all over especially my abs. I've already made a workout schedule for myself. I belong to my local YMCA, which is amazing. I'll be taking Spin classes twice per week as well as Tabata and TRX classes. I received some hiking poles for my bday so will try to get at least a couple of hikes in before the weather gets crazy cold. We even have a rock climbing wall and the Boston Ballet instructors offer adult classes there. A couple of my girlfriends have suggested Soul Cycle but I don't know if I'd be into that. I'll be doing most of my classes early morning like 6am. I just love the feeling of getting my workout out of the way. Giving up alcohol is so hard for me so I'm gonna try to limit it to no more than 5 drinks per weekend which for me is like nothing and I'll try to keep it at red wine and or vodka. Nutrition wise I'm pretty on point but will try to cut out some red meat. Oh and I did start taking One a Day womens vitamins, green tea extract, fish oil and evening primose oil. I've heard probiotics aid in weightloss. Does anyone have firsthand experience taking those? I do track what I eat with MyFitnessPal and I have Jawbone UP. In case I don't get to the gym I have the Brazilian Buttlift DVD set as well as a jumprope and kettlebell for at home work outs. Gonna try to avoid that though as I definitely workout harder at the gym vs at home. I'd also like to start taking yoga classes a couple times a week. I'm thinking that would be lovely on a late Saturday or Sunday morning . Especially after a long night at work. Great way to de stress . My current weight is 163 , 36-29-42. I'm lucky that my weight is very well distributed over my body. No one ever believes me when I tell them how much I weigh. I like my ass but I need definition in my waist and my arms are huge to me. Can anyone recommend a really great scale? Thanks! Oh and if anyone's tried Pilates , would you recommend?

Re: 30 Day November Fitness Challenge!
I'm kicking cardio into high gear. I'd like to go to Vegas and I'm not going there to be called fat like in AC.

Re: 30 Day November Fitness Challenge!
So I used to have a legendary ass and I attribute this single-handedly to riding my bmx bike EVERY. DAMN. WHERE. I used to live near a beach with hills w/unbelievably high inclines. This means no fucking gears and I was a stubborn little cookie and would refuse to get off even though it hurts to even walk that shit. If you work out at a gym, it wouldn't hurt to try this to emulate it:
3 mins standing on bike with highest incline and highest resistance.
Walk around, get some water, wait about 2 mins and repeat.
Do this maybe 2-3 times and it should KICK YOUR ASS. Add more reps as you get a firmer bubble butt<3 But by the time it doesn't make your ass burn like nothing ever has before, you should already have a better butt than 99.99% of the population.

Re: 30 Day November Fitness Challenge!
Ivybunny, I'm absolutely gonna try that tomorrow . Only once or twice thou since my spin class starts right after.
I created a gym/workout schedule last night and already had to deviate from it today on my first official challenge day. I was supposed to do a Total Fitness class but hadn't realized it was at the same as an appointment I'd forgotten about. So instead I did a 10 minute arc trainer warm up and then hit the weights (free weights and machines) for about an hour. Now going on a walk for an hour. Trying to hit my 10,000 steps for the day.

Wth. I've seen your pics. Your hot. What sort of cardio are you planning on doing? Right now my only cardio is spin and I walk about an hour daily.

Thank you. I just upped it to 40 mins instead of 30 and I'm varying it with stationary bike and elliptical.

Re: 30 Day November Fitness Challenge!
I'm joining! I have a pass for 30 days of unlimited Bikram yoga classes. My goal is to have skin that is even more glowing and to tighten up my girlie fat a bit (upper thighs, sides).
My motivation comes from upcoming obligatory family time at Thanksgiving (my partner's family - I always feel hella awkward there and don't get along with his brother's wife). I want to look and feel amazing! Then I'll be less likely to stuff my face there (from anxiety). Pro tip: eat something before you go to T-day dinner (a sweet potato with olive oil and Greek yogurt is super filling, healthy, and satisfying!). Anyway...

Re: 30 Day November Fitness Challenge!
I am on day 13 of Whole 30. I have not cheated once. I do need to incorporate more exercise.

Yes! Pilates is a great addition to work out schedules. I HIGHLY recommend Blogilates on Youtube. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIJ...Cfz6PjxbONYXSg
The woman's name is Cassey Ho. She has posted an endless amount of workouts, cardio stuff too. I make playlists of her workouts. They are usually 5 to 20 minutes each.
While we are on the subject of Youtube. I also love Tone It UP and XHIT (Rebecca Louise). My 4th choice on Youtube is Fitness Blender, 5th choice would be Sarahfit.
You also said you have a kettle bell. I love the Kettlebell vids on Tone It Up, especially the new one, posted a couple weeks ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLVl...fsH4pQNrLufOsQ

Re: 30 Day November Fitness Challenge!
think I will add flying trapeze to my regime

Re: 30 Day November Fitness Challenge!
Ok I want to join too
I already go to the gym 3-5 days a week, but I want to be more consistent and actually go the full 5 days.
Starting personal training tomorrow if my buddy can make it, if not we're rescheduling for next week.
I want to be able to squat heavier. I just started weighted squats and can barely squat 50 pounds right now :O
Want to start using more free weights and be less reliant on machines.
I have a pole in my place now and I want to start working at least 30 minutes a day on learning new stuff and building strength.
Weight is already ok, but I wouldn't mind dropping a few more pounds to get rid of the hip fat and belly fat.
measurements last time I checked were 34-28-37 and I don't really see much changing in the waist but I wouldn't mind at all if my ass grew lol

Re: 30 Day November Fitness Challenge!
Oh Lexi squatting heavy is the best! I got my squat up to 160lbs (when I weighed 120) after a few months, with a PR of 180, and it makes you few like a BADASS to know you could drag most people you know out of a burning building. Also Deadlifts make your ass get big!

Re: 30 Day November Fitness Challenge!
Has anyone else on here done Bikram before? I'm surprised by how militaristic the instructors are, and by how not-blissed-out my fellow students look. I thought yoga was supposed to be fun?
