Yes, I had a groupon for five classes and I only went to three because of your observations, although it is a decent workout. Yoga is lots of fun, don't let bikram scare you away. I've found through lots of trial that regular (non heated) yoga studio I find the classes pretty dull, not a good workout or a good mental exercise either. If there is a power yoga studio near you, definitely try it out. I leave power yoga classes feeling AMAZING, so sore, mentally refreshed, natural high. God I miss my old studio.

^ I did about 6 classes, pulled an injury, not for me. As a friend said, you sweet out toxins but you absorb all the toxins of people around you; I don't know if that's accurate but the thought is revolting.
On the other hand, my hubby goes 2 times a week for the last 2 years and finds it a spiritual experience, ignoring the head chatter ie "Its too hot, get out of here" etc.
I love Yin yoga.

Yes. I can't stand how the Bikram instructors tell me repeatedly to lock my joints in every pose - some of the poses even have you putting pressure on your elbows against the joint...why? All of the other types of yoga I've taken have emphasized protecting your joints with a soft bend. And the intensity in the room does not feel positive. I love the workout - love the sweating! - but the negative energy just isn't worth it to me. I also don't like that every class is the exact same. I like to forget that time is passing when I'm taking a class, and you can't really do that when the classes are so predictable.
Once my one-month trial ends, I'll go back to (heated) power yoga (great cardio and strengthening workout) and yin (awesome flexibility workout). I miss exercising with blissed-out happy people! I miss how encouraging, positive, and caring non-Bikram instructors are. *sigh*

My friend and I had our first training session today. THAT WAS INTENSE. We did legs for an hour. I've never squatted so much in one day. I'm not going to be able to walk tomorrow lol
