Canada’s Newly Passed Anti-Prostitution Bill Creates Danger for Sex Workers
Um, how the hell did this happen? :O
"Despite nearly a year of protests and outcry, Canada's new anti-sex work law, Bill C-36, passed its third reading in the Senate on Tuesday, and only awaits royal assent to become law. Unfortunately these laws will create unsafe conditions for sex workers across the country"

Re: Canada’s Newly Passed Anti-Prostitution Bill Creates Danger for Sex Workers
Sidestepping politics, it happened because 'sex workers' have essentially zero financial leverage, zero lobbying clout, and zero 'positive' press potential. In terms of pertinent facts, the law was passed by 'conservatives' but officially advocated by a 'liberal' abolitionist group ... meaning that Canadian 'sex workers' would appear to have no 'friends in high places' from anywhere along the political spectrum.
It will be interesting to see how this new law actually winds up being implemented in regard to escort agencies, strip clubs etc. Possibilities were previously discussed in an Industry Insight thread ---> .
Probably the main questions still to be answered are whether the Canadian gov't will consider contact lap dances to be a 'sexual service' thus falling under the provisions of the new law ( potentially criminalizing paying lap dance customers ), and whether webcam hosts will be considered as 3rd party 'promoters' for Canadian camgirls offering 'sexual services' ( potentially criminalizing webcam hosts ).
