I just found and watched this. I had no clue these fake con job clinics existed, and I really feel sick knowing how they are tricking people that are looking for help.

This makes me extremely sad, esp since I live in a state with such harsh restrictions on abortion. :(
I wish people would understand that making legal abortion harder to get won't cut down the rate of abortion, just the rate of SAFE procedures performed.
Also, why are they using models to represent the fetus that are all the same no matter what trimester? That's such false information, fetuses don't look like fully formed babies at first trimester. D:
That's the thing. They lie a lot apparently.
Just another reason why we need fully encompassing sex education provided in schools and through clinics such as Planned Parenthood, especially for those living in poverty stricken areas because they are the ones who are less likely to have access to birth control/plan B/etc. If people were taught more factual information about their bodies then they wouldn't be so keen to trust people who are lying to them. Not to mention, how is this not illegal in some form or fashion?
It's not illegal because powerful right wing politicians are the ones supporting these operations, by pushing government funding to them and away from sex ed programs.
They say in the video a lot of the funding comes from state and federal government "abstinences only sexual education funding and faith based education funds.
(in other words not so separated state-to-church funding.)
Wasn't there a Law & Order: SVU episode about this???
On reddit people were suggesting that people group up and troll these "fake clinics" by posing as pregnant girls and women and then doing outrageous things when inside the clinic.
The only drawback to these ideas is a lot of cops in hick areas favored by anti-choice religious people AGREE with the fake clinics so causing a ruckus might actually backfire on an activist.
BTW there is an anti-choice female activist who tried to get Planned Parenthood in trouble (she posed as a statutory rape victim & tried to claim PP was going to help cover up her pregnancy by rape situation- PP sued her.) I need to go look for the article...
I'm surprised this is legal. It's amazing how many scam businesses exists and the law does nothing to these people. I think it's more sick to prey upon someone who is scared and vulnerable, and not giving her accurate information than to give the abortion. If they feel abortion is wrong then scamming these women is the answer?
^^^^ I agree it's beyond sick. 'But we're doing this for the babeeeeeeeezzzz!' Like hell you're doing it for the babies, you're doing it to stoke your own self-righteousness. Bloody infuriating.
Fear is a wonderful motivator tho, & a great detriment to solid judgment. I guess they figure if the woman is 'dumb enough' to get knocked up she'll be 'dumb enough' to buy their bs.
I am so tempted to pose as a pregnant woman at my local "Hope Clinic" and troll them for a while, then claim miscarriage. I'm not a good enough actress though. Hmmm. ***evil wheels spinning in head*****
One of the very first thing these people do is give their victims an ultra sound. So you're gonna have over come the no baby issue for that to work.
I'm all for trolling these places slowing them down, costing them money, generally stopping them.
Just wish we could think of something effective. Bitch to google to do a better job of sorting results, start pointing out politicians wasting public money on these fraud factories.
Is this shit even legal?
Awful ...they're the ones leaving girls scarred for life.
In a lot of places the motivation is $$$$$- the fake clinics/agencies refer the naive young women to adoption agencies...where people will pay upwards of $20K for a healthy baby. In some places that kind of money for the workers is close to sales commission money at some car lots.
(In my area) ....the commercials for these "fake" places target teen parents b/c they realize the people (mothers and fathers) are too young to form their own opinions about birth control or abortion and the girls/women are too terrified of all the trouble an abortion means. So, easy pickings...
1. Why can't these places be picketed just as the pro-life people picket abortion clinics ?
2. In many places PP does a good job of debunking these so called "clinics".
3. Even though I am generally pro-life I detest these fonts of misinformation and half-truth. Abortion is legal in this country . The best way to prevent abortion is with FACTS ; with good Sex-Ed. Which should be more than Abstinence Only. Abstinence Only is such a documented failure that I am surprised that those programs still get funded.
4. It is no surprise that many people who support lying to pregnant women also think it is a good idea to lie to children about evolution.
