Re: Lap Dance - stripper movie
Almost makes me wish stripper films were ridiculously traumatising -- like 'Requiem for a Dream'-lvl traumatising -- so girls would be more :scared: to try it & leave more $$ for the ones who would take the job seriously.
But then the guys who see those kinds of films would just take it as one more validation of their bad behaviour ITC & shit-talking of dancers OTC. :gnasher:
Can't fkng win here.
Re: Lap Dance - stripper movie
Im sure there was a guy on here years ago asking for advice and info for a movie/book with a similar premise.
Im also certain that one dimensional stereotypes produced in the movies extend beyond adult industry workers as well.
A documentary is being filmed about one of the girls I work with (a dancer is helping produce) so perhaps we will end up with a counterbalance which interests the public too?
Re: Lap Dance - stripper movie
Where can I watch this? Bad stripper movies are one of my guilty pleasures lol
Re: Lap Dance - stripper movie

They're better than horror movies to me. Esp when you get to watch terrifying scenes like the pole-lick in Showgirls.
And if they're super bad, I just make fun of them the whole time and laugh at the terrible stereotypes.
Re: Lap Dance - stripper movie
Ugh I love bad stripper movies so much.
There was one I watched recently where the stripper picks up the drunk customer out of the alley and takes him to her home because of course she has a heart of gold, and he's really actually a nice guy blah blah blah they fall in love of course
I enjoyed it. Not going to lie.

I absolutely LOVE that one! The stereotypes are awful, but the story line is kind of endearing. It's kind of a chick flick for guys. More importantly, it is very educational. Until I watched it, I had no idea on how to give oral sex to a cantaloupe. :D
Re: Lap Dance - stripper movie
Don't even pretend that I'm the only one who watched Zombie Strippers.
Re: Lap Dance - stripper movie
Zombie Strippers is quality cinema!
I admit I love terrible stripper movies, too... And I'm posting mostly so I'll remember to come back to this thread and check recommendations. My Awkward Sexual Adventure is on my list now.

Re: Lap Dance - stripper movie

Re: Lap Dance - stripper movie
Dancing at the Blue Iguana. Weird movie, but it's got Daryl Hannah au naturel... Decisions, decisions...
Re: Lap Dance - stripper movie
'Lap Dance' has the makings of a new 'champion' ...
(snip)"With 'Magic Mike' showing her that there are better ways to do mainstream stripping films than erotic workout series, Carmen Electra is back and taking off her clothes again for the aptly-titled 'Lap Dance'. The film sees Electra in the Tatum role as a strip-mentor to Monica, a fresh-faced ingenue new to this salacious career. Monica has been driven to the job due to some lazy commentary on the economy--there's a foreclosure notice on her and her husband's door!--but thanks to the persuasive, aggressive powers of the strip-boss pimping them out, she soon gets seduced deeper and deeper into the world of lap dancing, leaving her old life and would-be screenwriter husband behind. It basically looks like Cinemax tried to re-form 'Showgirls' in the mold of 'Indecent Proposal'.
Greg Carter--himself a stripping veteran as well, a director-producer on 'Exotic Dancers of Houston'--wrote and directed the film. Though this is likely one of the only times when you actually expect Lindsay Lohan to be involved, she is not--though there does appear to be an un-credited cameo by the likewise likely Ron Jeremy. Less expectedly, Omar Gooding co-stars, inadvertently giving us the most depressing follow-up piece to his earlier Nickelodeon work, answering, "What happens when Wild and Crazy Kids become Wild and Crazy Legal Adults?(snip)

I worked at the club where Planet Terror was filmed, the Tarantino film with a stripper with a machine gun leg.

That was Rodriguez, but your point stands. The better part of Grindhouse.

^Haha, I agree! But, this will be another stereotypical stripper story that everyone thinks our lives play out like anyway.
