Providing address on sign up?!
Hi all!
I'm a newbie and am trying to sign up to stream mate. Sorry if this has already been asked but I have been reading for ages and cannot find the answer. Everyone keeps saying to use a fake name, but obviously on sign up you have to provide a real name with your ID and sign the agreement using your legal name. But now it is asking for my address on the payment information and account holder form. Firstly I'm from the UK, and the account holder form is all about US taxes so why do they need my address? Secondly, is it safe to provide your real address for the payment information form. I'm planning on using Payoneer and guessing if the address doesn't match the address linked to your bank I could have problems getting the money? I can't afford a PO box so would either have to enter a fake address or just use my real one. The thing that concerns me is on this forum there are so many girls that have said to use your passport as ID as it doesn't have your address on it, but then you have to type it out anyway for these sign up forms??
Just wondering what all you girls did when signing up? Also anyone know how safe it is to use payoneer global transfer to UK banks??
Thank you! xx

It's so they can filter out who is US citizen for thier taxes purposes it's about covering their ass.
Re: Providing address on sign up?!
It's perfectly safe to provide your address. Streamate is a reputable company.

So what about US citizens who have a non-US address? I'm confused.
Re: Providing address on sign up?!
When people are telling you to use a fake name, its a stage name, camming name, etc. that your clients and other people know you by, so you do not have to give out your real information. When you sign up to sites like streamate when they ask for your name and address that information will never be seen by customers. Use your real information, if there is ever issues with payments, address changes, etc. They will verify you by your Government ID ( At least in my experience ) . There should be a spot for a username and then for your real name.

Technically, there isn't any difference. Every US citizen camgirl must provide real name, real address, real SS# etc. which in turn allows the webcam host to report payments made to US citizen camgirls to the US IRS via year-end 1099 forms. The fact that the US citizen camgirl isn't residing within US borders only matters when it comes time for her to file an annual US tax return as a 'resident' or a 'non-resident'.
And with a very limited set of conditions allowing for special US tax exemptions, the US citizen camgirl may STILL wind up owing US social security tax and US income tax on the money she has earned from the webcam host ... even though she is now living in a different country. This taxation of ALL citizens regardless of actual country of residents is virtually unique to the USA, and obviously sucks !!!
Obviously camgirls who are not US citizens don't need to deal with year-end 1099 forms. However, for webcam hosts to 'market' to US customers ( who comprise > 50% of all webcam customers ), they must comply with 'Section 2257'. This forces the webcam hosts to obtain and verify real names, real addresses etc. of ALL webcam performers.

Thanks. I'm still don't understand how filtering out by addresses (US vs. non-US) on SM's part helps, since there are camgirls who are US citizens but reside outside of the US.
My parents live outside the US and when they file US taxes they actually end up not paying much at all. Obviously it depends on the person, but they haven't felt the system is unfair in that regard. Maybe it has to do with them having dual citizenship and having to file in both countries? My dad says that it "evens itself out" and they end up paying the amount of taxes one would pay for a single country.
But yeah, every situation is different and you're the tax expert here. :P
