Advice for getting into the porn industry
Specifically girl/girl. I've been talking to a few different agencies/companies and getting a feel of how shady they can be, you know not much detail and trying to rush you to be flown there. Does anyone know of reputable trustworthy companies or agencies? I feel like going with an agency would be a ripoff, kinda like doing cam for a studio.
Re: Advice for getting into the porn industry
LOL TRUST NO one....
Go to www.mikesouth.com to read up.Now, don't take everything he says for the truth, but many pitfalls, trouble & current events a girl considering porn can read about.
Then go to www.xxxporntalk.com where porn company owners pretend to be fans and trash the talent like crazy to really learn what they think about us.
You don't need an agent.
Go to twitter, follow every porn site that fits your look & comfort level with sex acts. Follow them. Tweet them some sexy pics & ask if they are interested in hiring you. Yes, it really can be that easy. On twitter, follow every porn star both male and female, porn company, director, camera guy. Comment or be witty on their time line. Post super hot selfies. If you are hot, have the look they want, it will take less than a month to have offers.
With any offer, google the company, google their name, look up the site, look up their work, on their twitter look to see what other porn stars are they posting pics with. If they claim to be in the biz & don't have a site or see them in porn scenes for major companies RUN... run run away. Those are the predators. Who do they tweet with. Once you find their work, look at the quality, the context of if, the production value, the co-stars, how well known is the site, how is it marketed. Takes about 30 minutes of easy research on the web.
Many predators will hit new girls hard, some will pretend to be agents, pretend to be male talent, pretend to be a major player. A guy with a few scenes on c4s or nothing at all will pretend to be a big name in the porn biz. These guys are DANGEROUS!!! Some girls, even major stars see a pay check as a paycheck and will fuck them. I just want you to be aware. :) Some are fan boys, harmless, but annoying to me living out their fantasy & putting up their own cash hoping and dreaming to make it big one day.
Now, if you think solo or only g/g will make you money, NO!!!!!!!
Companies in LA for the most part will NOT fly you in, that is illegal as in white slavery laws. Companies in Vegas or Miami might if you are hot enough to invest a plane ticket and a cheap hotel room.
Once you do shoot for one porn company, the male talent or the director will ask for your number, email address. He will play captain save a hoe. Oh, he wants to fuck you off camera. You are in porn, sucking a few dicks off camera is what it takes.
Now, now, if you are smart you can use it to your benefit. He wants to get paid a referral fee that other companies will pay him for bringing them new fresh meat. And maybe pay him to film with you on top of it. They will pretend to be your boyfriend. Been in porn 14 years and they all try to pull it on me.
I love it as a cat and mouse game to see how quickly they figure who just played who. It does get your foot in the door, it does lead to other bookings and then you can network from there. Maybe you will find love with one of them. :)
Hold out on anal. EVERY single company will try to convince you it is necessary from day one.
Why do I say trust "NO ONE" if you get Hiv they will crucify you. They will call you a whore, you got it from escorting. They will do all they can to crush you to keep it from being known you got it on a porn set. They will not cover your medical bills, they will put out your real name for the whole world to know you have HIV. You will never work again. Try getting a regular job after being in porn & famous for catching HiV....
Getting in porn is EASY for an attractive girl. Have a plan. Know exactly what you want out of it. You work for companies to get exposure to build your name, fan base & brand. You work social media to build up followers, traffic so you can make more money camming, your own site, phone sex and most of the time escorting.
Realize 99 percent of female porn stars don't make money from doing porn. Nope they do it from hooking. Can you make money without hooking yes, but most don't.
Do lots and lots of trade content so you can have your own solo site. Now there is a fine line with doing to many scenes & just enough. I can't tell you how to determine that. You can go to www.modelcentro.com and easily build your own site. Many in this biz claim to be adult webmasters and will rip you off or don't have a fucking clue.
An agent ONLY gets paid if you get booked for a gig. They have NO interest in your boundaries or well being. Most will book you for Kink... do you want to be tied up and have multiple men fuck your ass, be beaten, cattle prodded, whipped. How many jobs will you loose out on while waiting to the bruises to heal. Be very aware of boundaries you set for yourself before even doing one scene. Hell, if you are into that kind of stuff go for it. Don't do it just for the money.
Hope this helps. I'm willing to answer any question you might have.
Sam
Re: Advice for getting into the porn industry
Even Girlfriend films which used to be g/g only now does b/g to make money.
You might start that way, get a 2 to 20 g/g scenes. But each and EVERY company will ask you to take the dick. Profits for them and you is with the Dick.
How hot you are, how hot your scenes are depends on how long you can ride the g/g thing. An agent is not going to make enough money off of you to be interested and invest his time and energy over a girl and there are plenty who will do b/g scenes.
In order to get away with just doing g/g, you got to be the hottest thing and hot sex scenes they have ever filmed. Not saying that you aren't, but that is what it takes. Then the only reason you do g/g at that level is to really drive up your price and demand for your first b/g scene. So instead getting $300 to $1000 for b/g you will get $3000 to $5000 for it. If you are average, or even hot you won't. You have to be hot at a whole another level.
My favorite advice written by Sara Jay on how to get into porn... "You got to suck a lot of dick" and it don't matter if you are a female or male in the porn biz.
Good Luck,
Sam
Re: Advice for getting into the porn industry
Bump, bump. I'm all ears on more info.
Re: Advice for getting into the porn industry
Oh wow! Interesting stuff, is there an example of a girl so hot that she didn't have to do b/g at first?
Re: Advice for getting into the porn industry
Sam always has great advice.
Re: Advice for getting into the porn industry
I would only add that the business model for the 'mainstream' US porn production companies continues to get weaker and weaker. This is primarily due to increased competition from both offshore productions now being imported, as well as an increasing number of 'independent' producers who can operate with very low 'overhead'. This is being driven by the cable TV / hotel PPV adult providers being less concerned with the availability of occasional 'adult blockbuster' movies, and far more concerned about the availability of a steady stream of new material at the lowest possible cost to them.
I have a 'friend' on the west coast who has formed her own independent production company. She and her 'husband' pay 4-5 girls to make a new porn video with them every month or two, using their own home as the 'set', and directly sell rights to that video to an adult cable TV provider. The 4-5 girls are paid an OK amount for the couple of hours of 'work' they must put in. But the 4-5 girls will never get any promotion, nor any 'repeat' business, via my 'friend's' production company at least.
Extrapolate that into the probable future extent of the career of most new porn girls. They may get one gig with a couple of 'mainstream' porn production companies. They may in turn get one gig each with perhaps 5-10 'independent' production companies. However, unless they have exhibited some extraordinary talent on camera, or have exhibited some extraordinary talent on the casting couch, that's about it in terms of b/g . If they're willing to do 'kinky' stuff on camera, this could lead to another round of gigs. But in the final analysis, you're usually talking about one year's worth of bookings / income from the porn industry, max.
One obvious result of this gradual change in business model is that the probability of a new porn performer ever achieving the 'star' status of a Jenna Jamison, a Jesse Jane, etc. is now essentially zero ... given that said 'star' status was the product of 'mainstream' porn producer promotion effort / spending. Without that 'star' status, Sam is absolutely correct that new porn girl are likely to be paid for their on-camera performances at rates that are disappointing low ... at least in terms of creating adult content which is totally beyond their own control. Sam is also correct that many new porn girls now view their porn performances as little more than 'resume building' for their actual income producing business activities ... which involve escorting a.k.a. 'private sessions' with fans.

Now Melody, I love you but disagree with you.
I see the potential to be bigger, make more money, be the one who profits the most out of this new area in porn. Big porn companies got rich in the past rarely did the performers. Fuck them. Trust they are ALL aware of what I think of them. Made it clear and loudly that it is my goal for the performers to be the ones who make the money & put them all out of biz.
1. Get so called discovered. Whatever that means... that concept is laughable to me.
2. Film for every major porn company you can so you can learn and see how it is all done the right & the wrongs of it all. Do it to make the connections with camera guys, locations, access to male and female talent pool.
3. Build your twitter, tumblr, instagram world press blog & site for affiliate marketing to make money off the scenes you did for those porn companies. Building up those things, getting more followers is TRAFFIC, converting traffic that was not possible several years ago for the performers. Didn't happen till myspace. TRAFFIC is KING of porn. Companies used to never hire girls after so many scenes it was All about the new girl, the fresh face. NOW, that can be an advantage, but these companies need sales, a performer with 500,000 twitter followers will get booked on that alone over a fresh new face.
Get to a million followers on twitter, NOW TMZ is keeping an eye on you. Tv star, rap artist, movie stars, nba/football pro players/nfl players are hitting you up for sex. A pic with them VIRAL almighty Viral and mainstream coverage the golden egg. Hell, play it right, you can become the Goose that lays those golden eggs.
Lisa ann.... Look what Solo cam girl former BBW star Taylor did when filmed at a hockey game. We are talking CNN, sports channels, tmz. Got her a gig on funny or die. Taylor has done with never sucking or fucking a single dick on camera.
4. CAM Become a top performer on a big box cam site. Sooo many threads on this site on how to do that. Oh, gives you the ability to bring in a good income on a weekly bases so you can turn down porn gigs you don't want to do or escort. Agents wont be able to control you or be sneaky, kill off all film work to get a girl to be an escort.
5. Clips4sale & many other vod outlets. You have tailor the content to fit those site, but good money makers if you do it right.
6. Learn online marketing, affiliate marketing, networking, filming, editing, lighting, watermarking, photo shop, html and I am sure there are several other things I am leaving out here. WHY cause you can't trust some guy or even porn legend to do it for you & still make money at it. More you learn, better you are as a performer.
7. Trade content. When we all work together & do trade content we lower the price and split what cost there is way below what ANY porn company can do it for. KNOW what else happens since we NEVER get residuals.... we make all the residuals told to us, preached to us, denied us for decades. Fuck them! Have your own site.
8. Of course film for the best companies you can. Get that exposure, let them build that fan base for you. The pay sucks... but work it right and in the end you benefit the most.
NEVER EVER in the history of porn has a performer been able to do it without a major porn company backing her aka the contract star. Nor longer do these porn companies dictate who is popular, who makes money, who can become a star. That power, that earning potential is in the hands of each and every performer.
If a top cam girl on MFC is making $75,000 a month, every single porn company is LA would love to have that profitability without tubesites, dvds, affiliates, numerous employees and production cost. WE ARE THE POWER PLAYERS NOW.
What truly amazes me that any performer any where in the world can do it without going to LA or Miami, for filming for a porn company if she really wanted to for less than a $5000 investment.
The old system was wacked. It chewed up & spit out performers without a single thought. Knowing the long term negative effects it could have on them in the job market. Now a performers has the ability and power to do it without them and say fuck the regular job market. They are scared of us, scared of losing the control and profits for so many decades over the performers when we took the most risk.
We were disposable. Now, each and every performer has the ability NOT to be disposable in this industry. Sooner than we expect there will be a girl who rises way above the Jenna Jameson level.
I have always had this in mind from my first porn shoot. Despite being told over and over again by every single in person it can't be done. Hell, I NEVER ever should have had a porn career according the powers then and NOW.. Come on Melonie, you remember what it was like before the year 2000. What chance did a 30 year old, 207 pound girl living in Florida have in porn? I've had over 25 magazine covers, not many even skinny porn stars can claim that. I've done what no other bbw has EVER done in the porn industry. Before me there weren't vhs or dvds in porn stores across America with a BBW front and center. No it was a hidden, shameful, fuck a fatty in a pig pen CRAP if there was any at all.
Broken so many glass ceilings in this biz that I think NOTHING of it being told time and time again how I was to old, to fat to do anything I wanted much less on my own terms. Now a hot chic with the technology and social media available today can easily take to a whole different level than Jenna did.
Doing it, breaking the bar that Jenna did will happen. It always does. :) When a bar is set high and we all are amazed that someone did it. Sooner or later another comes along & sets a new level a new bar. It is how the world works. I am SURE you broke and set many of them yourself. Come on we did, others can too.
Now lets take in mainstream media. There are so many outlets, so much competition for people watching any show, movie, online channel, that they are desperate for stars to have traction, followers already in the making. Tv, movies, youtube, the web, facebook, twitter OMG unlimited options these days. Now profits lay in advertising. Mainstream has NO clue how to market to online venues unlike commercials on tv and radio did for so long. It does NOT convert they way they need it to, like it used too.
Who does social media better than anyone else? Without any publicity machine, money or fame from tv and movies? PORN STARS!!! Hello Oh, it wont be long.. they need us more than we need them.. Isn't that what KK is doing? Her app alone brought in $34 million for her bank account.
Isn't Sony dealing with "Revenge of the nerds". LOL All those Hollywood brokers, we both know have many many secrets to hide. Uh huh... haven't porn stars been every major player, movie star's dirty little secret. WE are NOW living in a world with no secrets, especially sexually based secrets. As porn stars we don't have any dirty little secrets. We earn a living off being bad. Impossible for a porn star to have bad publicity unless they get HIV. Media, porn industry has outed every single dirty secret we could ever have. No one is EVER shocked when we dont play by the rules or do bad things. After all, what did you expect he or she is a porn star.
Now the best way to achieve any of it... CAMMING where the world is our stage.
Boobies Rule, bigger the Boobs or ass these days more power you have.
I am so excited about all of it, down right giddy.
Smooches,
Sam
Re: Advice for getting into the porn industry
Ladies Dream BIG!
You can do it. Take it further than I or Melonie ever did. And it is some mighty big bras you have to fit into too. haha I couldn't say shoes, bras is more appropriate in this circumstance.
With a good computer, mobile phone, internet connection YOU can make more money. Shine brighter than any movie star in Hollywood. Make more money than any of us thought possible. Go be GREAT! Dream BIG!
Melonie not for nothing, but when I look at the success & money making machine of the Bravo Housewives Brand. Leaves us no excuses for not going for it ourselves. Hot big boobed smart females in their 40s, 50s ARE the it girls. Hell, I just need to find the energy and focus to do it all. :)
Re: Advice for getting into the porn industry
Cam girls we can Rule the WORLD lol
We can be the next millionaires, the next multi-millionaires of the web.
Why not go for it?
Let's see what we can do. :)

Actually, we don't disagree at all in regard to the 'big picture'. However, as the OP had specifically asked about the 'porn industry', I specifically limited the scope of my answer to the 'porn industry' proper. And the bottom line on that is, more so than ever, that porn actors aren't likely to earn serious money by JUST performing in front of a porn producer's camera. Thus the remaining 'value' in becoming a porn actor now stems from it's subsequent use as a tool for self-promotion.
I pointed out the situation with my 'friend' who has successfully created her own independent porn production company. She was able to do this for a few 'special' reasons. For starters, she herself has natural F cups. And the porn girls she hired for the first few videos she produced had even larger cup sizes. She then leveraged her previous connections with huge boob fetish fans into direct video sales. And, after a while, her huge boob fetish oriented productions were picked up by a major cable TV porn 'network'. With that connection established, and with virtually every huge boobed porn performer having already appeared in one of her videos, she then branched out into stuff where porn performers with normal sized boobs could be used ( i.e. MILF & teen threesomes ). The underlying point, of course, was that my 'friend' makes the vast majority of her money because she is now a bona-fide porn producer - and is thus able to market her 'product' either directly to customers via internet sales, or via a one step removed adult cable TV network.
Elaborating on your other comments, it's a valid 'law' of all businesses that 'eliminating the middle man' provides for greater earnings retention. Given today's technology, today's camgirls have loads of potential opportunities in this regard. Being able to attract customer attention directly ( as opposed to relying on a 'middle man' webcam host to provide potential customers ) is a major plus in this regard i.e. you're 100% correct that 'traffic is king'. And, as you pointed out, being active on social media, self-promotion via any means available, etc. makes it possible to attract customer attention directly. This ability is worth a lot of money !!!
As you alluded to, with today's internet possibilities, there are no longer any 'glass ceilings' in place - i.e. where in previous years 'mainstream' porn producers, adult magazine editors, adult website owners, etc. were in a position to promote 'favorite' girls while at the same time suppressing other girls. You and I have both been down that road in the 90's and early 00's, and both found effective work-arounds to avoid the 'casting couch' approach !!! Arguably, the only serious 'obstacles' which actually remain today are related to gov't regulations and bank / credit card regulations !!!

You are right. I never think or operate under that context cause it never was my life in this biz. :) Didn't go to LA, perform or work for LA companies for the first 10 years of my time in it. i come from the web, web companies like Bang Bros & Reality Kings
Was not or exposed the the West Coast mentality or way of doing biz way into my career. Should have seen my face when being lectured over and over again about the biz, how it works and how talent can't do this, do that. I'd let them go on and on then tell them Already done those things you just told me weren't possible for a bbw.
I know who you are talking about is a creative innovative rewriting the whole porn world script that no ones else can copy. Major Props to her. I don't agree with the context of it. But admire her all the same. The filming, sets, framing, quality, pushing new boundaries, doing original stuff when everyone else is stuck in a 30 year boring formula. The ups it to major movie editing and trailers.... She is raising a mighty high bar. Which was much needed.
Experienced the casting couch just a few years ago for the first time. Mike Adriano had me comer over for a go see. Had to have a male porn star explain wtf that was at 9pm at his house. I think nothing about roll in with Elizabeth STarr and Tommy. They wanted in with Bang, he was a director for them at the time. So hey, bring them along and network.
Now, I can't imagine why bang would want to film me in LA when I live in their back yard and used to date Penn. The look on his face when he opened the door with Elizabeth & I standing there.... You know the look.
He asked me to get naked for doctor pics taken with his phone. He needed approval from Olivier to okay hiring me. So folipped Olivier off in the pics, laughing the whole time. He freaked the fuck out that I even knew Olivier, that I had his bosses number, his bosses boss number.
Then I saw his whole world crumble before my eyes, he was freaked out. Just made me laugh harder. My dumb blonde ass finally figured out, I wasn't there to get a real booking but for me to fuck him in hopes of getting a gig.
Never had that problem, games ever played on me in Florida EVER... The whole thing still amuses me. Can you imagine a power play, take advantage of the talent to get laid on me. Now, it does make for a good porn plot for an orgy scene with all Liz, Tommy, MIke and me. Fuck, sure do wish I had thought of that at the moment.
You are RIGHT LA still to this day operates in that mind set. Totally predatory behavior instilled in every performers so they won't go for it on their own. Disappointing how many fall for it. When I'm out there, doing lunch, drinks, dinner, on set trying to convince them all differently. Did it with Chrissy boy, but he would have claim to it anyways. Lord catches doing it there and on the web, he just shakes his head & smiles. Calls me trouble maker in a good way.
Cam girls, bbw girls, performers not based out of LA see the potential. I love how bright all our futures can be.
If I ever met you in person, would get down on my knees and say "I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy">
Re: Advice for getting into the porn industry
To the original poster, if you want to dm me. Send me pics.
I will be honest and let you know if you have the look they normally shoot. Be sure you have thought this out Be sure you can afford to fly yourself out there, get a rental car and a hotel room in a decent area.
Now, you are thinking WTF, why don't they pay for it all.
Cause it is safer. NO one can threaten not to kick you out of the room, cancel the plane ticket back home, force sex on you or demand you hook. The $1000 it may cost you out of pocket gives you the ability to say no to anything others might try to pressure into. When I say "TRUST" no one, I mean it. Only reason LA people act like your new best friend, helping you make money get to a set is so they can be the first to take advantage of you financially & sexually before anyone else does. When they try, you can just laugh at them, get the opportunity you are after, the gig and no hard feelings on either side.
LA porn industry has spent decades developing and encouraging that kind of atmosphere.. They are proud of it.
If you can't afford to spend that money, then don't go. It rarely ends well for most new girls. Already laid out the plan to do it without them.
All those fantasies of glamour, fame, money are very much possible but ONLY if you are willing to finance it yourself. Despite the pics, the video that rarely goes beyond a 20 foot area 85% of the sets are dirty, crappy, definitely unsanitary places you will ever step foot in. I've always turned down the offer to shower on set after a shoot. Cause the shower, the tub will get me more dirty rather than clean. I wait till I get home or to hotel room
It is NOT fast money, it never was easy money, not the money it used to be at all.
Carefully consider everything. You may think I'm an old, over the hill bitter porn star. I'd make more money by getting you work there, throwing you to the wolves & make $2000 off of you before you boarded the plane ride home.
Can't personally recommend it for a new girl, but I know most people got to go and see it, experience it for themselves.
if you are truly committed to try I can pass it onto Girlfriend film Top director if you want.
He is a pervert, but in a way needed to make good porn. But a good guy and pretty safe. The camera guys or other men on set may try. Just slap them, then tell them I told you too.
Sam

Speaking as someone who grew up on the West Coast, that kind of treatment of people in general ("chew you up and spit you out") seems to be the norm for that region. If you read about how bad the pay is for people in more conventional entertainment jobs when they start out.....it will shock you. BUT Hollywood will never run out of bright faced young people jumping on Greyhound buses to go to LA and be a star.

No, probably won't.
But youtube, the web has lead to many doing it all from where ever they may live at the time. Make a video that goes viral... $$$$$ Without Hollywood, agents and such taking a cut.
Dont need a bus ticket to Hollywood, just an iphone, android phone or tablet and a few apps to do it all yourself. Find it totally fascinating, amazing & in awe at some of the talent.
How much money has grumpy cat made? media claims $99 million, the owner says more like $10 million.... know what I say, let's to the pound and find the next face that can make us a fortune and give them a better life so they can improve ours in many ways.
Have you seen Batman dad?

Re: Advice for getting into the porn industry
Why dont you build your own site instead of going for agencies. With all these advanced technologies you can get it done in a matter of time. There are many porn scripts you can get to build your site easily. For example scripts from Adent (available for any niche), or using wp scripts or any other. Thats the best I guess to build a porn tube site.

You advise someone to build a porn tube site when PH had Visa & Mastercard pull their billing & other tubes are mostly on their way of not allowing random strangers upload content they didn't produce or own... Seems like you want someone to end up being sued.
Not to mention building out a site & getting billing isn't cheap or easy. Oh, then their are the hackers, plenty of them to attack a new site, which happens a lot in the adult industry. Do you have any idea what it takes to make a solo girl site a success? The hours of work to build one out, to fill it with content. Which doesn't make sense with Onlyfans, Model centro or Fancentro that currently exist.
Sadly, I find your advice to be ill informed.

Listen to Sam38g^. Besides, the woman who started this thread hasn't made a post on here since 2016, so I doubt she'll ever see your post.
