Noisy background while camming
does anybody know if webcam microphones can pick up on background noise while on cam? Like if I was camming in my basement room with music playing do you think members could hear the walking abovehead? The ceiling makes a groaning sound anytime anyone walks. I wish I could test this on cam, but I don't want members asking about it. Does anybody have any insight or experience with something like this? or know how much noise the microphones cut out?

Why not record yourself with your cam while people are walking overhead? Then you'll know exactly what the customers can hear.

I agree with Procrasturbator - video yourself and do a sound check to see what it's picking up. It all depends on how sensitive your mic is and what kind of settings you're using. You can tweak the mic's volume in a few different places when you're streaming (on mine, I can change it in my computer's sound settings and on the HD encoder when I'm on Streamate).
I usually keep mine around the 50% mark to avoid picking up every little background noise. Even then, I've had producers in TV Gold shows ask me to turn off my ceiling fan because they could hear it! The built-in mic on my webcam isn't nearly as sensitive, but the sound quality is definitely lower.
