Any ways to prevent sex-trafficking, avoid pimps and know if a club is legit?
Re: Any ways to prevent sex-trafficking, avoid pimps and know if a club is legit?
Research your area's laws to ensure that you stay w/in them while working. In the US at least, prostitution/lewdness bylaws vary greatly by area & are sm times written pretty broadly. When discussing getting hired w/ mgmt, ask what is permitted re: contact, ask abt security. What they don't tell you can be as enlightening as what they do tell. Run a search on 'club security' or 'extras in the club' for threads that address safety/legal concerns while working.
Any person who starts talking abt how 'I can make you so much $$$$ baby … you should come work for me … I can take you away from all this & have you rollin in it in no time … come work for my friend/bf/daddy/mgr …' any of that kind of talk should be setting off loud-ass alarm bells for you. Other dancers or female 'customers' are just as capable of running pimp game as men & a pimp will sm times send his girls to recruit for him. Best case, maybe a white knight 'Capt Save-a-Hoe' looking to waste your time or butter you up for OTC action. Worst case, a trafficker. Disengage ASAP. Your club's culture will determine whether it's worth it to bring them to mgmt's attention, or if you should simply keep quiet & avoid them.
The hiring process: filling out an application, including your real name, current address, a current work number (whether your personal mobile or one specifically for work) & your SS# (does Australia do Social Security #s?) is normal. Any legit business will ask for this info, they need it for their own records. They will also ask for proof of age. Any club that lets proof of age or eligibility to work slide should be avoided -- if they are letting documentation slide, what else might they be letting slide?

If it sounds too good to be true, be it coming from a club manager, a customer, or even a fellow dancer, it probably is, so back away and don't get involved. Always trust your gut too. If you have even a slight uncomfortable feeling about a person or situation; get out. No amount of money is worth things possibly going very south.

Whenever you hear the words, "I can help make you money," or "let's go into business together," or "I'll provide you protection, a car, blah blah," - those are all red flags that is a pimp trying to win you over. Just say "no thanks" and keep steppin'.
