Fuck....someone broke into my apartment and stole my money
I had 5000 in cash hidden in my apartment closet. I also escort at this apartment with security cameras near my door. If I were to have renters insurance cover the stolen cash would they look at the security cameras? I have clients coming in and out and I'm worried to report it or how to handle this. Anyone with advice I would really appreciate it.
Re: Fuck....someone broke into my apartment and stole my money
Or would I even get the money recovered? I'm pretty upset because it was all the money I had. I know, stupid choice on my part :(.

Aww. I am so sorry..did you make a police report? I have worked insurance, & we did have a case like this..I'm not sure how exactly they dealt w/it.
Perhaps you could say you had that amount in the house to make a large purchase?
Sorry I can't be of more help here.

Pretty devastated right now :(! I also don't want to put my clients in harms way by having them view the security cameras... and I am now working these next few days to recover the money so I can't file a police report yet because I pretty much was left with zero money except 1000 I made that was in my purse. I totally get it's my fault for being the dumb ass. Should I be contacting insurance first or the police report? I pretty much tampered with the area the money was in with my own finger prints because I was in disbelief that the large amount of cash was gone. My whole savings!
Also, my renters insurance company is about a year old and with the crazy unstable ex client who I had to go to court with so I don't see the insurance helping :/.
Re: Fuck....someone broke into my apartment and stole my money
Ok, 1st, stop beating yourself up. You could do either, file the police report, or insurance..the insurance co. will probl ask if you filed a police report.
I don't know what to tell you about the security cams, sorry.
Re: Fuck....someone broke into my apartment and stole my money
I'm so sorry, girl. If I were you, I would invest in a good quality safe to store your cash in. This really sucks. I hate that this happened to you, especially since you are an escort. It makes it a tough situation, considering that escorting is illegal in most places. I'm not sure if escorting is legal where you are or not, but that is something to consider if you are going to file a police report.
Maybe tell one of your clients that you got robbed, and maybe he can help in replacing that lost cash? I hope it wasn't one of your regulars that robbed you! Is there any way for you to see the security camera footage yourself?
Re: Fuck....someone broke into my apartment and stole my money
I lost the safe keys so it was a huge journey lol..
Re: Fuck....someone broke into my apartment and stole my money
I have a Sentry safe that is about two feet high and two and a half feet wide with a combination lock on the front. It's so frickin' heavy (nobody could quickly grab and dash) and that's where I keep everything valuable. My apt complex is super safe but you just never know. It can be purchased at Walmart for less than $100.

Re: Fuck....someone broke into my apartment and stole my money
I posted something but it got deleted. I was wondering how I can get by with a safe. My mom straight out said a safe
can be carried away :(.
Re: Fuck....someone broke into my apartment and stole my money
^you have to get a big one like the poster above said, or get one that is built in.
Re: Fuck....someone broke into my apartment and stole my money
I'm so sorry this happened to you. I've been burglarized too many times before and now have a security system and video system in place to protect my place and dog. Investing in a safe isn't a guarantee because they can just easily walk away with it. Try to keep as much cash in a safe at your bank. When I was burglarized, police told me most thefts happen by people you know. Chances are it was a client who knows you use your place to work and knows you must store some load of cash there. I'm so sorry love.
Re: Fuck....someone broke into my apartment and stole my money
So sorry that happened to you. Check your insurance policy, many have a very low limit for stolen cash unless it is a business known to handle cash transactions like a bar or restaurant, for example. Any insurance company will need a police report. If you can view the security camera video yourself and identify the thief you could then have a PI or attorney contact them, offer to allow them to return the funds before contacting the authorities.
Also the fire safe listed above is designed to protect papers and valuables from fire, while heavy, isn't necessarily secure if someone has tools and time to smash it.
So sorry this happened o you, another reason to decriminalize sex work.
Re: Fuck....someone broke into my apartment and stole my money
I'm glad some more ppl posted..anyway, there's a thread in stripping "what do you do w/your money?" & it talks about having $ after shifts, what different girls do w/it, & discusses different types of safes.
Here it is?

Most can be secured to the floor or wall with concrete screws.
Re: Fuck....someone broke into my apartment and stole my money
I'm really sorry this happened, but I'm concerned that it was a client.
Re: Fuck....someone broke into my apartment and stole my money
Perhaps not a client, but very likely someone who knew you were an escort. if you are someone who is often at home (because you work from home)/ has an irregular scedule the person probably spent a while figuring your schedule.
Re: Fuck....someone broke into my apartment and stole my money
Yes it actually ended up being a client. I got a police report done but after apartment management found out and police got involved both sides said they would check out the footpath in front of my apartment. I had 2 security cameras at my apartment in front of my door ( i know....bad luck on the camera placement but the lease was already signed) and I have plenty of "footpath" in and out of my door. So I had no choice but to lie and tell them I found the money. I decided to take this as a lesson to be learned the hard way :(.

So sorry this happened to you.
Re: Fuck....someone broke into my apartment and stole my money
So I'm assuming you saw the video of the 'footpath' and spotted a 'visitor' that wasn't a scheduled appointment, therefore the thief?

I hate that I was right about it being a client, do you at least know who?
