Is it? I'm in the UK, I assumed I had to declare it myself.

I think you're asking about all income being declared by SM to the IRS?
In the US, SM sends us a form called a 1099 that states our earnings for the year, and we declare that on our own taxes. Then SM sends a copy of the same form to the IRS, so if we don't file and have it match up with what SM told the IRS we made, then we have issues.
I'm not sure how it works in the UK. I don't even know if SM has to declare UK performers incomes at all? At least maybe not on an individual basis...? I'm sure someone else from the UK could explain how it works. I would think they do declare it in some manner since they will be writing off what is paid to all performers regardless of location so that they aren't liable to pay taxes on money they didn't keep.
Hopefully someone can explain it to me.
Anyway, don't feel bad if you don't earn what top earners do! I have never earned $500 in one day on streamates, but I earn enough that I am happy with and enough to have a nice life. That's all I am aiming for :) xx
I just started camming and not making anything close that. Howww? I know not to expect anything amazing from the beginning but jeez.
I've been camming since the week I literally turned 18 (on and off, of course). And I'm just now figuring out how to be successful and consistent.
I just joined Streammate about 2 weeks ago and doing fantastic, I am so proud of myself for making about $100 in 3.5 hours! Ladies do not bring yourself down when you read about others making $500+ a day, you do what YOU gotta do.
My Tips:
But yeah...thats all I can think of right now! Like I said, you gotta figure it out for yourself. :-* Cam on!!!
- Devote your time and energy to one site (No judgments to anyone who wants to work multiple sites, just my personal tip)
- -Streammate- Start with a lower than recommended rate your first week, then gradually increase every week (My first day I got multiple tags to my profile like 'cheap' and I could definitely tell a traffic difference the next day haha)
- Spend the extra time in your day on making yourself feel great and prep (take a long exfoliating shower, lotion up, hair, make sure your nails arnt chipped, makeup, etc.) Not only will you look like hot shit, you'll feel like it. And guys can tell.
- Can't manage a 6+ hour straight shift? Find your peak hours and when your regulars are online, or what time of day is best for you, and break it up into 2 shifts. This also broadens your prospective clients, even just giving yourself an hour break in between.
- Keep props AND DRINKS/FOOD handy. Literally within arms reach. You never know when a client is going to ask you to wear heels, jeans, use a certain toy, want your hair in a pony-tail, oil, whatever).
Thank you.. I am on my first week on Pandora/Flirt4free and made about $100 in a few days.. (lots of time invested for that money tho).. I think my site is token-based and not that popular.. no one has mentioned it really on here and I've been browsing a bunch of threads. Me and my girl friend who got me into this will try Streamate.
I want a cam job that can consistently make me $2g a month to live on.
Streamate is an American Company so They dont have to declare payments to people in other counties, including the UK. However you should still be claiming all the money you make and paying taxes on it! If you fail to do so because the government doesnt know that you get paid by Streamate but then they find out your going to be in a lot more trouble then its worth.
You are considered an independent contractor who is working for an American company and you should file your taxes according to that. The bonus is that you can also claim deductions like part of your rent and utilities if you work from home, your make up and sex toys, paper towels and new paint! Keep every receipt so you can show what you spend for in overhead and use it as a tax deduction. For many of us it is worth it to hire a professional accountant to navigate this area. It can be money well spent.
I like your positiveness and motivation :) The trick is to keep that up when the new girl period has ended. You're 2 weeks in on Streamate, so just make sure you keep the momentum after you're off the "new models" page. This is where most new girls give up, because once you are sorted among all the other models, it can be 10x as hard to make the money, unfortunately. You sound like you have the right attitude though! :)
What site do you work on?
I don't do full days but I tend to make between £150 & £200 in a 4 hour shift. I don't tend to cam past 10.30pm because I don't have any energy then. All depends on how good a mood im in, how busy it is, if any of my regulars are around etc etc
What sites do you ladies work from to earn such amounts?? I work from Adultwork only and am lucky (and I mean LUCKY) to earn an amount like that in 10 hours
Last night I had a exact goal in mind for the whole week and I made it in one night! Whatever you wanna make, you can make. U just have to believe. BELIEVE! lol
I never allow myself to make less than $100 per day. Between shower, makeup, hair and setting up my room I expect myself to make at least that. Rarely do I stay on for that little though. It's usually only if I'm sick, my room is cutting out etc. I usually try to make minimum $1000/week, strive for $1200+. I take my weekly goal and divide it by the number of days I'm working. I try to make the bigger chunk of my goal early, have majority of my goal complete by the end of Thursday so Fridays it's a small goal plus whatever extra. I hate working Fridays and weekends. Especially Fridays on SM I find it full of Friday night loners & beggars + a ton of models online. So to answer your question, I usually make anywhere from 250-400 per shift. Slow and steady wins the race. I've pulled all day/all nighters before and it burns me out. I only do it if I'm behind on my goal, or I'm really on a roll making money.
You guys forget that a lot of the ladies who are making $500 ++ a day are veterans here. Making that much in a day does not come overnight! I average at 100/hr on normal days, 200/hr on very good days, and sometimes hit 0 on certain days.
When I first started, I made anywhere around 25-50/hr, which I was quite happy about because hey, 50/hr is pretty good for anyone! I've been camming for 2 years now, and yes, I'd say I do pretty well now.
So don't give up right away girls. It takes time and patience to build up your clientele and your reputation. Whoever made you think that camming was easy money was wrong. It's tough work, and it all falls down on the amount of time and effort that you put into it. Also, your attitude :)
For me, even though it varies, I can pretty much count on certain days/hours to be more profitable than others. I don't know if after 4 years, I just have it stuck in my head that it will be this way (I practice LOA), or it's really what's happening.
Even though everytime I get on lots of regs pop in, they don't always spend.
What really makes it frustrating, is at my busiest hrs., I feel like I'm missing money, because it seems like everybody comes in at once, and only 1, or 2 get to have me all to themselves.
So, my range is anywhere from $40-$100 per hour, depending on my 'golden hours' of making money.
I too am jealous. Also confused and a little suspicious of what I'm reading on this forum. I've been out of camming, the culture and this forum for awhile, but planning on coming back and being better at it than I was before. Combining what I'm reading in this thread and that of another it sounds kind of funny. Let's see -- there are girls making up to $1,000 in one day on this thread. In another thread, there are girls talking about having grandmas for roommates and camming out of walk-in closets. If I was making $500 to $1,000 in a day I doubt I would be needing or having a roommate and I sure as hell wouldn't be camming in a closet.
It wasn't all that long ago that $500 to $1,000 would have been pretty good for a week's work -- that would have been a fantastic week for me. Also, the average girl was getting 35% to 45% of what she grossed. So, a girl making $1,000 in a day is grossing more than $2,000. Girls these days must be spending 0 time in free chat with the morons (sounds wonderful to me) and going from private chat to private chat with the Warren Buffet's of the webcam scene -- doing very, very well on a per minute basis. Where are you all camming or are you independents?
This post is how much can you earn working a full day. As in logged in from 8 - 12 hours. Even a complete newbie can earn 300 working a full day. I don't understand what is so unbelievable. These girls stated that some of them average around 40 per hour so 40 x even 8 hours will give them 320 in a day. The fact remains that this job is fucking draining as shit to do 8 hours in a day and for the girls that do I assume that they aren't working 7 days a week. (some of you do and I am in complete awwww)
Also so what if they have roommates or are camming from a closet. I live alone. My monthly expenses are close to 3000. I would get a roommate or cam from a closet too if that meant cutting down my monthly expenses which will leave me more money for debt and savings.
You don't know girls living situations. Just because they have a roommate can still mean they have 100k in the bank saving up for a mortgage free house or retirement.
Did this make sense I am so f'in tired today so I know I just purely rambled!
My point in all this is that the girls that are flashy will not have anything left once they are done with camming. The ones that aren't are the ones that will be set for life.
I've never understood the "it didn't/doesn't happen to me so it must be suspicious" way of thinking.
There's a wide range of cam girls that post here in terms of what they earn on a daily/weekly basis. I don't think that $500-$1000 per day is average by any means at all, but lots of us here do it. It's not impossible.
There's lots of reasons why people would have roommates (grandmas or whatever else lol) or cam from a closet. Just because you make hundreds of dollars a day, doesn't mean you have to spend/live like you make hundreds of dollars a day. Some of us purposely live below our means in order to pay off debt, save, invest, etc.
Definitely take some things with a grain of salt, but like I said... it's not unheard of for front page models to pull in these kind of days/weeks with the right amount of hard work. Many have even posted screen shots to prove they are not making it up.
I find it incredibly audacious of you to post this. The couple of girls that posted that they cam/cammed out of their closets and or have roommates are not a reflection of every cam girl. And if that's what they are doing to get their business and hustle going, good for them! Everyone is different in their hustle, earnings, circumstances, personal events, living situation and so on. For all you know someone might be raking in $500 a day living a minimal lifestyle to pay off student loans, debt, saving up for a downpayment, frugal, helping out a sick family member or who knows what else. Or maybe they are only working 2 times a week, where as someone is working 4 times a week making $300 a shift. It's all relative. Girls have posted in this thread various amounts that they make. What I started on SM 4 years ago, I was happy making average $35-50 an hour. I am now easily making double that; $35 an hour is a slow night for me. It took me YEARS of busting my ass (almost literally haha) on that site specifically to get to where I am now. You are welcome to read the camming sucks as well as the camming rocks thread for further proof that camming earnings can be extremes in either direction. Maybe you should focus on yourself and your potential instead of wasting time and energy with your scepticism of others achievements.
