Re: Stripper Interview/Blog
Be anonymous. Safety aside -- you may be fine with being fully open about dancing now with your friends and family, but will you always want your name associated with stripping? What if you want to quit and get a vanilla career? What if it's in a field where dancing would be looked down upon? The internet is forever, and people will always be able to come across this blog post that links you to dancing. Safety-wise too, yeah, best not to use your real name, at least not your real full name (last name) or with identifying information (location). All it takes is one person getting the wrong idea for something bad to happen.
Re: Stripper Interview/Blog
I agree, I would keep it relatively anonymous. It's one thing to voluntarily tell people face-to-face what you do - you're making each decision to let those specific people know. But once it's out on the internet, any random creeper with bad intentions now knows something that maybe you wouldn't reveal to them IRL if you met them and got a bad vibe off them. You can no longer control your personal info once it's on the internet for everyone to access.
Using your first name should be fine, but I wouldn't be any more revealing than that.
Re: Stripper Interview/Blog
Keep it anonymous. When I was dancing I didn't care who knew. 13 years and everyone in my family knew the whole time. My mom even traveled with me! lol Now I'm 43 and the reality that my teenagers friends may google my name and find me is right there. Luckily I always insisted on a stage name but one asshole publisher used my real name. So my maiden name shows a picture of me topless. Nice, right? My point here is that one day you won't be a stripper. One day you might not want your next door neighbor to know. Or your husbands family. Do you really want this to rear it's head then? You can profit just as much by using a fake name now, just be consistent with the name and link back to any online presence you have.
Also....the week after that magazine hit the stands, I had a creeper from 5 states away call me at home by looking up my phone number! Trust me, that's not a good feeling!

Addison, that's so scary! The thing about the creeper call.
The google example you gave actually happened to my old roommate before. She was a porn star and her son's teenage friends googled her name, found some videos, and used the info to bully and harass him. Horrifying!
Re: Stripper Interview/Blog
I guess I'll probably keep it anonymous to be on the safe side. Plus, my first name isn't a very common name here either. Thanks for the tips.
