They disconnected you so they could charge you? What a great site. And $400? lmao that's crazy.
Obviously who ever created it doesn't have the funds to run it. That's probably why they are charging.
Two top models I have talked to said that their stores were not only worth it, but that they made the funds back within the first week. It's a slow start site but its beginning to take off and it never hurts to add more eggs to your basket. A customer kindly helped me open mine and I'm currently setting it up.
It's a one time sign-up fee. They use CC Bill as a payment processor and you make 75-80%. They don't claim any of your content. You can use it for donations, tributes, skype shows, photo sets, and they have a phone option. I've seen everything on there from "buy my content" to "pay my rent." They pay weekly, unlike most content sites that only pay once or twice a month.
The only downside I see is that they don't protect against chargebacks, but I can't really expect that from a small site.
I wouldn't discount the site just yet. Just my $0.02. :)
I recently got one and I love it. I sell Skype shows on there and it's great for selling whatever else you want. Also have had some large random tips. I don't know if I'd recommend it to girls who, don't have a decent following and fan base though just bc of the start up cost. But I like it so far : )
I know a few cam performers who use them for their stores and they love it and make money. A store is what you make it. If you work on it, promote it and update a few times a month, you can make really good money.
I've been contemplating creating my own site, until CamModelStore caught my eye, but I'm not completely sold. I'm tired of managing multiple sites in order to do everything I want. There just doesn't seem to be ONE that works for me, but I'm not sure I'm up for the task of creating my own. Ideally I'd like sell videos & photo sets (with the option to send download links), other items/services, skype shows, offer a tip/donate option, host a non-amazon wishlist, and a small blog. So pretty much a manyvids/tumblr/cammodelstore. I am not, however, looking for a membership site! The site doesn't give much info so I have a few questions for the models who have used CMS:
I'm assuming you upload your videos to the site for fans to purchase. Do you also have the option to create direct download links? (for selling some content in your chat room)
How complicated is the interface? It seems old school with very little design options.
Is there a limit to characters for the "About Me" section?
I wouldn't mind the upfront costs if I could get everything I need...I just have a feeling I'll be in the same boat as before, looking for another site for options CMS doesn't give me.
ugh I was so looking into this until the "chargeback issue" .. i wanted to use it as a back up for tributes etc ..
i wish it wasnt soo easy for customer to do chargeback because otherwise id be all over it
I was just looking into this, according to their FAQ it's $199 to start a store now. Seems worth it if you have a lot of followers... they pay out 80%.
I had a ccbill account and visa processing was $800/yr if I remember correctly... so $199 is really not bad at all. This looks like what I've been searching for... I need a way to consolidate all of the things I offer/want to offer, this would cover it all at 80% profit:
- Skype shows
- texting packages
- snap chat, kik, etc
- photo and video sets
- random tips
Also as a nice little side bonus, if you have a store you can get $100 bonus for referring any model who also opens a store.
Why don't we set up a referral chain? Each person that signs up uses the referral link of the poster above them... then it's a 50% discount for everyone and we start our own little pyramid scheme!
*half serious...* lol
CamModelStore now has per minute Skype show capability. They are going straight up against ModelCentro/SkyPrivate.
Has anyone tried out the per minute app? I'm assuming it's a plugin much like SkyPrivate.
Wait a minute ...modelcentro has ppm plug in???
Oooooh okay, I think I did get a show from modelcentro that went to my skyprivate plug in..l got less $$ tho since it was a referral through mc I had no idea till months later !!
I am bumping this thread because I am thinking about sign up with these people. I am already signed up with Model centro as well. :)
Still love my cammodel store. One of my SM regulars found me there and now he only buys shows there, so I make 75% instead of 35%. Added bonus: My check got lost in the mail for some reason and I e-mailed CMS asking what was up. They got with accounting that day and re-issued my check, and I received it within a few days. SM only re-issues checks after 30+ days have passed. Wonderful model support, highly recommend.
What the ACTUAL fuck? They charge to set up a store and they ALSO take a %? No way, sorry... just... no, that's crazy. Sarah all the things you mentioned above you can do with LCMS x
i just saw that earlier this month. So you have to pay the upfront fee and get 80% correct? Payment processing isn't cheap so that makes sense. What does the upfront fee cover exactly? If they designed the site for you, that's understandable. I don't think they design it. I think that's entirely separate.
They don't design your site nor do they give you a domain. They also do not cover chargebacks.
Perhaps the fees are for site promotion? If the site has decent traffic it could be worth it.
Nope, as far as I know, the fees are for the privilege of having a store. You are responsible for bringing in your own customers and your own marketing. The most they do is Tweet for you. They don't host your vids either so you have to find another host just for your videos. I noticed as well that it takes more than 5 seconds to pull up a CMS website.
You get a lot more on ModelCentro, it's free to set up even with your own domain, you get their awesome, immediate support, templates and very easy to use interface that requires absolutely NO coding. Videos are hosted and they have partnerships with SM, SkyPrivate, VerifiedCall, LCMS and more.
They truly listen to model feedback and eventually they will also have the same capabilities as CMS with the ability to make your own product buttons.
Feel free to use my referral link if you like and I can also help you with the set up of your site.

They do not cover chargebacks, but they designed my store for me upon opening it with no extra charge. Someone from Cam Model Store messaged me on twitter and advised they would set up a page and if I didn't make the money back that I spent on the store within the first month that they would reimburse me the cost of opening my store. Im not sure if they were at that point trying to get a bunch of models to open stores, but I opened one anyways. They designed my page, but I am responsible for adding products to the store, which is actually very simple even for tech challenged people like myself.
