Streammate Pay For a Beginner
Hey Ladies! I've been reading up & doing my research before I actually jump into the camming business.. So far I have $1000 to put towards my laptop & equipment. My biggest concern @ the moment is - how soon after getting approved and actually performing should I expect my first check? I see some people say there's a 3 week delay, and also how often are payments dispersed? Weekly?
I don't want to spend all my $$$ on equipment & end up broke /waiting a month + for my profit. I want to be sure that $ will be rolling back in soon. Seeing as that I have bills, child, etc.. I just want to make sure I'm planning correctly. Thank you soooo much in advance! Xo

Re: Streammate Pay For a Beginner
Yes, 3 week delay, then weekly thereafter. Unless you sign up through Boleyn Models Studio for a streamate account, and then you can get daily pay and not have a 3 week delay.

Re: Streammate Pay For a Beginner
OP, if you currently don't have a computer with sufficient specs for camming have you thought about renting one for a month? That way if it turns out that camming isn't right for you, you won't have wasted a ton of $$$$ on equipment you don't need.
welcome to sw :)

Re: Streammate Pay For a Beginner
Well it depends, I was never on a three week delay but instead a one week delay. You can be put on a one week delay without having to be in a studio. They will do it for US performers, and some others, but I think it's been said that some countries they will not lift the three week delay, so again it depends. Just ask them to be sure.
After you figure out if you're on a one week or three week delay, then you will get your first check and so long as you work every week then yes, you would get checks weekly.
Under your payment history it will show a Payment Schedule. Mine says under "payment and processing" that there is a 3-5 day period after the end of the pay period before payment processing and transfer. Pay period ends Saturday night, they process the payment 3-5 days later (usually Wed) and my payment arrives on Friday. So that means I'm on the one week pay delay. What does it show in your account under Payment Schedule?

I'm sure you're already aware that i7 Processor (at least on SM) is the Gold Standard.
Camming using the Adobe Encoder with high speed internet (required for highest placement on SM) requires a huge amount of CPU & memory, so buying an i7 processor should be seriously considered.

Thank you @JoyKitten! I had no idea. There's soooo much info on here from 2011-Now, it's kinda hard to sort through to the most up to date stuff.

Re: Streammate Pay For a Beginner
I really thought that I could get a $200 HP laptop and a good cam & be on point. :/

Re: Streammate Pay For a Beginner
As far as starting, if you have any laptop made in the last few years you can cam. It's not worth dropping several hundred dollars or more into a computer until you know if this is right for you. Do buy a nice webcam though--I love my Logitech c910 and many other ladies here use it. You can pick one up on Amazon for under $100. A good webcam and a solid internet connection (use an ethernet cord, also known as 'hard wiring,' instead of wifi if at all possible) are all you need to start. The computer can come later if you're just getting your feet wet. Obviously, it's nice to start with all the best stuff, but investing in everything now when you don't know how it'll go? Very few businesses can get away with that at the time of start of and camming is no different.

I am in Canada and I am a on week delay. Consistently working on the site is the only way you will see your earnings weekly.
I am set up with payoneer - payoneer is set to do global bank transfer so streamate sends my earnings to payoneer on the Friday, payoneer does their thing to send the money to my bank account it arrives no later then Wednesday.

Re: Streammate Pay For a Beginner
I started out with a HP laptop. Some camsites have you use Adobe Encoder to stream at the best quality and improve your placement. I had a hard time running it because it was an i3 processor. So I just streamed through my browser in the meantime. When you are in the market for a new one, make sure you get a i7 processor. If you are unsure about the specs, most of us on here are pretty tech savvy, so just post them and we'll let you know if it's worth it.
Check out this site: http://slickdeals.net/deals/computers/
But definitely pick up an actual cam. Do not use your built in webcam. It's crap. I love my Logitech c920. But since you are on a budget, you might want to use the Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000 in the meantime and keep it as back up when you upgrade to a better cam.

Re: Streammate Pay For a Beginner
Thank Ya'll! I am all signed up with payoneer, waiting on my SM to be approved.. Now I just need the laptop. My Dad is a technician I have him looking for one, but I told him it's just for class. I did mention that I needed an i7 processor & he said "well it's just for school work right"? I'm like, uhhhh. Lol.. I'm going to keep looking though. My goal is to have something by Monday.

Re: Streammate Pay For a Beginner
Is there any way that you could use a desktop for a while? I know it's not as convenient, but you can put it on a rolling cart if you just need more mobility around the house.
I'm asking because your budget seems to be pretty tight, and you can get *WAY* more computer for your money if it's a desktop. If you buy a laptop with your budget, you are most likely going to struggle to make SM work - you might not have the specs to run the encoder, or if you do, you will probably max out the CPU all the time, resulting in all sorts of problems. With a $200 laptop, you might not be able to stream in HD at all (using the non-encoder HD settings). If you shop smart, you can spend a few hundred dollars on a desktop and have enough computing power to have a high quality HD stream, and possibly enough to split cam.
Since the quality of your stream is probably the biggest factor in your placement on SM, having a computer that can provide a good stream can very literally make or break your camming income. It's possible to make decent money if you aren't on the first page, but if your placement sucks because your equipment isn't good enough, it will be a LOT harder to pay your bills, much less save up to upgrade your equipment. I'd say get as much bang for your buck as you can now, so it's easier to make money from the start. Then work hard, save up, and treat yourself to a high quality laptop later.
Also, if possible, go for the Logitech c910 or c920. The pro c920 costs $70-80 at Target, and is possibly cheaper elsewhere. It's not that much more expensive than the cheaper cams, and again, it will be easier to earn the money back with a better stream.
Also, check out this awesome thread about what specs to look for in a computer. The second post talks a bit about laptop vs desktop, and mentions "be prepared to spend a decent chunk of change ($900+) to get a [laptop] that will perform as needed": https://www.stripperweb.com/forum/sh...puter-Shopping

Re: Streammate Pay For a Beginner
When my own laptop was being repaired, I went to a nearby Rent-A-Center and borrowed a brand new Toshiba laptop for $65. The price I paid was to rent it for 2 weeks. If you don't drive (which I don't), you can arrange for someone to hand-deliver it to you, and then when your two weeks is up, you can arrange for them to come by and pick it up for you. I thought that was awesome.

I think I will try that! I remember another mentioning it, as a way to just test the waters. Thank You!

Re: Streammate Pay For a Beginner
Hello everyone! I've been lurking and read for about a month now trying to decide if camming was right for me and getting as much information as I could on different sites. You guys are AMAZING by the way. I've learned so much and now have a much most realistic idea of what to expect from camming, the pay I should expect and the effort it takes. I've officially signed up for MFC and Streamate but I have a question and I can't seem to find it in search. When I signed up for Streamate they never asked me about me about how I wanted to get paid or offered me any payment options. I want to use Payoneer but how do I sign up for it on streamate? I assigned it for my payment option on MFC but haven't offical signed up for the card yet. Sorry if this was covered somewhere else.

Re: Streammate Pay For a Beginner
^^ Bree, this is pretty important, so please don't stream with SM until you check on this. When you log in to your SM dashboard, look at the bottom left, and you should see a section called "My Account." The first option under that should be "Payee Choose who receives payment." When you click it, there are places to fill in your name, address, etc, and then choose your preferred payment method.
Is all of that there? Can you fill in the info and pick your method? If so, awesome! Sort out your payment stuff however you like, and go about your business.
If it's NOT there, or the areas can't be filled in, or there is anything else impeding you from entering your payment info, it's likely that you signed up with a studio. If you know that you signed up with Boleyn Models Studio, that's ok, they are the good guys. If you think you may be in a studio that isn't Boleyn Models, DO NOT STREAM yet. Go up to the top of Camming Connections and look at the stickie called "How to sign up for sites directly..." It may not be too late to get out of the studio, but I don't really know much about how to do it. That thread is where you can find the best info about getting out of the studio, as well as certain members around here that are really good at that sort of thing.

Re: Streammate Pay For a Beginner
The option isn't their at all :(. I applied through the streamate model site so I don't think I used a studio but that would explain the option not being there. I haven't streamed anything yet because I didn't want to not get paid. I'm reading the thread right now and I'm gonna try and contact support about the issue. Thank you !

Re: Streammate Pay For a Beginner
Just hit us up on Skype (skype: BoleynModels)...we won't try to sell you on our studio but we'll try to help you real quick figure out what's up. I'd like to know the exact links where you signed up to see if anyone's doing bait and switch overrides on SM's model recruiting site lately. We noticed its been down for a few days, I'm thinking they figured out there was a re-direct.

Re: Streammate Pay For a Beginner
So it turns out that I was in fact sign up through a studio. Even though I went to the offical streamate website to enroll at some point I was redirected and my application went to a studio and if I hadn't been paying attention to where my money was going I would of been stuck in a contract the second a started streaming with them taking a percent of my money. I still have no idea what studio had me or how it happened so all new models beware! Thank you so much to everyone that commented and to KatyBoleyn for helping me avoid a major problem!

other girls gave you the low down on SM payments and studios so Ill just give you my advice on starting out
you could make $0-$100+/hr as a beginner. Theres no way to know until you try unfortunately.
The biggest advice I can give you is sign up for as many sites as possible and get approved before you go spend money on equipment
Make videos....sign up for C4S, ELM, manyvids, mygirlfund, Clipvia, eclipstore, niteflirt, youandy etc upload every video to all of them. Market each video as my first video doing xxxxxxwhatever Sign up to those sites you could be looking at 5+ checks coming to you not just the SM one. If you sign up for some of those sites now and start pumping out videos and reach payout you could see payment in a couple of weeks as well as having residual income off them forever.
Sign up for other camsites too... MFC, cams.com, chaturbate etc in case Streamate doesn't work out for you
Dont spend all your money on equipment, only spend what you have to at first
I started on SM with an i3 and made good money, I dont think that is feasible now but a low end i7 can be found cheap
Check craigslist for decent cams, Pawn shops for computers shop around...you dont need fancy lingerie, fancy lighting or a ton of toys
Use what clothes you have, buy 1 or 2 toys(if your using them) you can get glass dildos for around $10 on amazon, use desk lamps for lighting...you can buy them at the dollar store or goodwill. If you rent a computer for awhile your startup costs could be under $300
Good luck :)

Re: Streammate Pay For a Beginner
For anyone's future reference, we've figured out that the "streamaterecruiting" site has either been bought out or is currently being hijacked by a studio.
Here's the direct signup link that won't get you screwed:

Re: Streammate Pay For a Beginner
Geez, it's this kind of bate and switch, studios seemly hacking into an account and rerouting traffic, gives this biz a bad name *sigh*
You think you're dotting your I's and crossing your T's, but still you get pushed into a studio. WTF?!
If she's been redirected from the legitimate sign-up page, then I hope SM lets her out of that contract..... and cancels service with the studio that would do something that underhanded.
