Your google voice number will still work in google hangouts (for now). You probably want to get the Hangouts app AND the Hangouts Dialer app. If you have both, you'll be able to dial and text real phone numbers (as opposed to just messaging other people who are using hangouts). God only knows why you need two apps to accomplish that, but that's how it works.
yes and when I'm out i plan to connect it via my personal phone's mobile hotspot. Hopefully i will still receive emails and notifications and other camming related stuff.
are you able to receive andd send photos via google voice now?
All of my photos I get go into my email account and I cannot send them, not in the app. Not sure about hangouts though.
Thanks for this thread! I've been wondering about this myself.
An app called Sideline let's you have a 2nd phone number for free! You can even choose the area code.
I got rid of my second phone and phone line when I found this app.
It looked so ridiculous while I was out running errands, or having coffee, to have 2 identical phones sitting side by side.
Like, nothing shady about THAT! LOL!
I tried sideline for a while and it was AWFUL! you can't send pictures without using an email (like google voice) and while it does give you a second number, expect 4-6 calls from scammers (credit card "offers", free vacations, irs but an indian dude talking and not the correct number) and telemarketers per day! I'd get calls starting at 5am sometimes. yeah you can block the callers, but even then I'd still get 4-6 scammers a day calling. Drove me so batty that I deleted the app.
As you have an S5 you can download the samsung my knox app and run your camming accounts from there. So on my standard apps i have my personal stuff and in my knox i have my camming accounts for kik, snapchat, twitter etc. Saves having two phones and works a treat for what i need.
There were a few threads like this a while back and at the time, I was starting to use my boyfriend's old iPhone as my camming phone on wifi only. I wrote a review blog article about some various phone/texting apps that you might find helpful: http://camconcierge.com/phone-number-app-review/
I liked TextNow the best out of the ones I tried. I wrote the article back in May of last year so I'm not sure if all the info in it is still current.
Thanks Ladies, I do have the new iPhone so i kinda want to use it as well. Is there a knox version for iOS? does it keeps yours personal stuff/contacts separate?
I've been searching the threads and i keep hearing Sideline, Goggle Voice, Text now, etc. Do you guys prefer one over the other?
The thing is I am always receiving calls on my personal phone and always on the phone with bf. That is why I want to use a separate phone where I will use my premium snapchat, camming social media, emails, etc. I know I can do this using wifi only. But I also want the option on having a phone number on it so I can offer texting, or GFE. Also, I would like to be able to use it when I am out. (Maybe I can connect it using XFINITY's free wifi access (but idk if this is safe) or via tethering on my personal phone so I can still check emails, social media, etc.). Still need a free number app though.
Nope, Knox is awesome, but only Samsung phones can use it. I'd be VERY surprised if similar options didn't come out soon, though. It's great for people like us that want to keep business and personal apps separate, but also great for guys that want to easily hide their porn viewing activities, people who are cheating, and anyone else that wants to hide and lock down a bunch of apps. I'm not saying that people should make products to facilitate porn and cheating, but that kind of shit does influence the market.
I use/have used both Google Hangouts/Voice and Sideline. Here are some thoughts:
Sideline Pros:
- Sideline runs through your real cellular service (not over VoIP), so the call quality will probably be better if you're using it for phone sex. This is the main reason I use it.
- I've never had problems with telemarketers or weird calls.
Sideline Cons:
- It runs through your real cell service, so while the guys only interact with your Sideline phone number, the calls and texts that come through Sideline will use your cell plan minutes and text allotment, and will appear on your phone bill.
- It runs through your real cell service, so you can't use it on a phone that doesn't have a phone plan - it can't be used with a phone that's solely used on WiFi.
- It's really wonky with texting, particularly when it comes to photos.
- It's also really fickle and wonky if you try to use a Sideline number with Whatsapp - sometimes it works, but not always.
- If you don't use your Sideline number for 30 days, you'll lose it without warning.
Google Hangouts/Voice Pros:
- Overall it's very functional with the texting, and generally functional with calling.
- It's completely run over VoIP, so you only need to have your phone attached to WiFi, not a cell phone plan.
Hangouts/GV Cons:
- It's VoIP, so there might be some lag and distortion on calls, making it less optimal for a serious PSO.
- If you're messaging someone who is also using Google Hangouts (using your gmail addresses), you can save their contact info. If you're texting a phone number, you can't save it as a contact, and you can't relabel it with the person's name. Your previous text history stays there, but it's hard to remember who you're talking to based purely off a phone number. Unless you memorize your guys' phone numbers or keep a spreadsheet or something, you'll have to scroll back in the conversation to figure out who it is and what their fetishes are.
- Personal Rant: I love Google, but they've been trying to figure out their IM/texting/voice call/video call apps for a while now. There is a lot of redundancy (such as needing to sign up for Google Voice, then get both the Hangouts app and the Hangouts Dialer app), and if/when they mess around with things some more, you'll have to figure out the new features. It's probably not a big deal, but be prepared to wonder why Google can't consolidate some of these things. Apple has beautifully integrated IM/SMS/phone calls/VoIP calls/and video chat into something very easy and functional. Why Google can't do the same is beyond me.
Also, anyone use Freedompop or Ringplus?
You can set up whatsapp to use with your google voice number.
Whatsapp allows you to make calls, text, video calls (facetime), etc.
When it was time for my upgrade, I started using my new phone for personal things, did a complete reformat my old s5, and started using it for camming only. I like it like this a lot.
My cam phone doesn't currently have a service provider at all, straight wi-fi, so I have all stock apps related to texting and phone calls disabled. I use kik, snapchat, twitter, skype. I have TextMe which gives a cell number (without having to connect it to a real number) that I use for people who want calls during privates. I have ran into issues when trying to text pictures. I've had a few pictures appear to be sent, but the person says they did not get them. This makes me feel like it wouldn't be the best if you want to try to use it for GFE cause that could get annoying... but I haven't really played with it a whole ton as I use kik mostly.
You also have to complete those lame offer things (download this game and play to level 5 kind of stuff) to get credits to use TextMe, but I think it requires 1 credit per phone call, and they run offers for double credits.
