OMG! My First customer recognised me!
So tonight was my first time logging on and my very first customer in free chat said he recognises me from Facebook and even told me the area I live in! I'm mortified, I blocked my home country and another but no the country I'm now living in but I forgot about my Facebook friends all over the world

Re: OMG! My First customer recognised me!
This is why its best to not have a strong social media presences in your private life. You might want to deactivate your FB for further privacy.

Re: OMG! My First customer recognised me!
Well if you have such an online presence with Facebook that people will get to recognize you from all over the world, then yeah, this can happen.
First of all i would go in settings, and block what my F friends can post on my account to Visible to me only , or make it as you have to approve each post that goes on your account, otherwise they can post away, and all your friend list will know where you work, and what you do, by dropping links, and tagging you in pictures.
Facebook is not good for this type of business, so if you are not terribly attached to it, i would just pull the plug.
Use a fake name, and use Facebook for what its there for: people you actually know. I would not friend strangers.
Ultimately the more online presence you have, the bigger the chance you will get found. If you can cut down on unnecessary presence like Facebook, it might help your cause.

Re: OMG! My First customer recognised me!
Also if ever visits you put a note on their account to know who they are even if they change their name, and block.

Re: OMG! My First customer recognised me!
I hate to break it to you but there could be more than just him that recognized you. The only difference here is he told you how and where he "knew" you. This is the World Wide Web after all. There's no secrets.

Re: OMG! My First customer recognised me!
Just to clarify,he's not a customer-he's a free chat loser. Kinda like guys who go into strip clubs and don't get dances, ie furniture. I second and third deleting your FB, it's just not worth it.

Re: OMG! My First customer recognised me!
Even better. He's broke. Pay broke losers no mind!

Re: OMG! My First customer recognised me!
Yes he was a free chat customer I made my excuses and logged off and blocked that country. I'm back on now and people keep logging in then logging off straight away is this normal on sm?

Re: OMG! My First customer recognised me!
Also thing is I run another business which many people on Facebook follow so it's a bit much to close down ig and FB
-
Re: OMG! My First customer recognised me!
Well if you got a business that doing well, you need to weight your options. Again make sure you have full control of your faceb. profile trough settings. Then see what happens , i guess. Also try not putting out your image on your business if its possible, just the products maybe?
Also there is a possibility you haven't been recognized, as so many pull the "i know you" daily, and when i call them out on it, it never matches. Also many like to pretend they know you, it is like a role play. Disguise yourself, block and deny.

Re: OMG! My First customer recognised me!
No he does know me he's definitely been on my FB and knows the city I live in. My other business is not doing so well at the moment that's why I'm trying to do this decided to block all of us uk and few other countries where I know people so will see how many customers I can get even though I'm limiting myself massively

Re: OMG! My First customer recognised me!
I have a distinctive look hard to disguise I'm wearing a wig but my face is still the same lol
-
Re: OMG! My First customer recognised me!
Well if you know him, block him, not the entire country. I hope you denied, though blocking them, might be affirmation enough for them. If you ignore and they keep pestering you, they would eventually give themselves away. If you disguise and you deny they will never know for sure, and btw if they are a stranger, i would not sweat it much.

Re: OMG! My First customer recognised me!
I don't know his Facebook name he told me his name and country which is the same country as mine he was trying to get real time meeting for bdsm
-
Re: OMG! My First customer recognised me!
Are you on adultwork? On that site the country you live in is no big secret and everyone on there wants to meet. Well if he is that hot for you, he will eventually message you on FB , then you can deny and block them for soliciting. Until then he has no proof of knowing you, or even knowing you real Facebook.

Re: OMG! My First customer recognised me!
No I'm not on adult work at all he does know me I do have a strong following on FB and it's the only place that has my location

Re: OMG! My First customer recognised me!
Just so some of the new girls know....
You will get guys who pop into your room and say "Hey neighbor, I didn't know you cam" or "OMG we went to school together" or "Holy shit guys, this girl lives down the street"
I seriously get at least one of these ^^ guys every couple of days. If they don't specifically say your name or where you live they are completely full of shit and just want to get a rise out of you and freak you out.

Yeah, that sucks. He didn't blurt out your real name in public chat too, did he??? That was a dumbfuck move for him to even be blurting out that kind of stuff in public chat. I would've blocked a guy immediately for blurting out my personal info in public chat.

I had one of these guys like 2 weeks ago. I would have been scared but he was like, "Haven't seen you since high school" or some crap.
Jokes on that loser because I went to an all girls school and didnt hang around guys until college cause I was socially awkward. lol

Yeah, you REALLY are limiting yourself. A very large portion of cam customers are from the US or UK. It may be possible to make decent money blocking those countries, but it's probably going to be VERY challenging. Unless you're outstandingly hot by traditional standards, your best bet is probably to get really good at an unsaturated niche fetish or two.
You really can't have all the things: being internationally well known in your online vanilla life, being a profitable cam model (who is accessible to most of the world), AND never having any cross-over. I don't think anyone here will tell you that it's possible to do all three. Even ladies that aren't well known and live like hermits in their vanilla lives get recognized sometimes. You need to think about what is your top priority, and if you want to do your vanilla business AND camming, you may just have to accept that you'll get recognized sometimes.

Re: OMG! My First customer recognised me!
Magical_Hoohah is right... blocking the US & UK will at minimum cut your profits in half, and honestly that's very very conservative. Your only other options are basically Canada, Australia, and northern Europe (Scandinavia.) Occasionally you might get paying customers from other places but for me at least that's very rare.
If you're well known enough to be recognized by the very first person that comes into your chat then you are probably too well known to cam under the radar. If I were you I would either own it or give up camming, especially since you're not likely to make much at all with those countries blocked.

Yup and sometimes they will try to guess your name to scare you. Always just say you have no idea what they are talking about them block and move on. As long as you play dumb and never admit it, they will wonder if it was really you or not, but won't know for sure.

Re: OMG! My First customer recognised me!
I had someone in c2c tell me we went to kindergarden together. I went to kindergarden in Russia. The look on his little face when I started blabbering away in a different language was priceless.

Re: OMG! My First customer recognised me!
Oh man, I can totally understand what you must be feeling right now!
My 3rd night of camming (back in my MFC days) I had some asshat type out my FULL NAME and have the gall to ask what I was doing! Thankfully, a nice guy in my room saw my deer in the headlights look and told this guy off telling him my name was simply Bella and not to be creepy. The guy ended up typing that he "must have been mistaken" and then left. I banned him and then had a 3 day long anxiety attack wondering who it could have been (I was working a vanilla job at the time, so I was worried about getting outed and fired). Finally, I realized I could geo-block (new girl) and did that, but these days I cam on Streamate and I don't use geo-blocking. If someone recognizes me, so be it. He'll be blocked. This is the profession I chose and I shouldn't be ashamed. If he is gonna be a dick and try to out me, he will get banned. Otherwise, there's not much you can do about it. It's either accept that you will be recognized or don't cam, that's the hazard of being on the internet every day.
Try blocking just your local region if you can. And majorly amp up your social media security. Be on it like a hawk. I check every day and also google my names (real and stage) to make sure there's nothing else out in cyber space that could cause a mess. Just be vigilant, confident and be one step ahead of the game.

Re: OMG! My First customer recognised me!
I have somewhat of a similar situation to this. I funded and help to manage a successful facebook community and business that has become larger in the last five years.
I settled for removing every personal pic for my facebook, going into very high privacy settings, and going for a low profile. It sucks and it's boring, but I manage it that way.
Also in prevision of my being outed a year ago I shifted the management/direction of said business to some other members, so I remain very active but stay in the shade, no longer the public face in social media and others. That way I figure if I'm ever outed, I can shut my profile off and my friends/partners can publicly wash their hands off me if need be so they can save whatever remains of the business, and I can bow out and finally have some more goddam time to cam. :P most of my close friends have some idea of what I do so I'm not worried about them.
