The Clip-Creation Support Thread
So, this might be an unwaranted thread, but I thought I'd create it anyway!
Basically, I know that for many newbies (myself included) clip creation is a bit of a riddle wrapped in an enigma. There's threads asking for advice dotted throughout this forum, but I figured it would make sense to have a set place for questions and collection of advice.
Like other threads, if people post general advice, I'm happy to copypaste it into this top post, and if no one is interested and it turns out it is just me who is horribly confused, oh well!
To get the ball rolling, I have a few questions:
Do you play music in your clips at all? Do you edit it on later, or just have it playing while you record?
What programs do you use for recording/editing?
Do you script, or just get an idea and go with it?
-
Re: The Clip-Creation Support Thread
No, i don't usually play music... It always sounds bad when i do and I just think its a distraction. The only time I play music is if its a striptease, booty shaking, or some other type of video that needs music
I just use movie maker to record, then I use iwisoft to make watermark. The watermark is about all the editing I do.
I don't use a script I just go with it, sometimes Ill write out a plan of the clip and a few key points to say but it is never a full "script", its more like prompt

Re: The Clip-Creation Support Thread
Subbing. I have a phobia about making clips and the universe is telling me to do them! Then this thread!

Re: The Clip-Creation Support Thread
Hope it is your own music. Record companies will let you get away with it for years, then sue you. It is $250,000 per song. Youtube has deals in place & the money for the lawsuits, do you?
Go about it all legally rather than illegally. What right do you think you have to play someone's music, creativity & money they spent making it into your videos? I use pond5 to buy my music.

Re: The Clip-Creation Support Thread
^Agree with Sam. It's bad karma to steal someone else's hard work. We don't want our clips on pirate sites do we? I use dig.ccmixter.org just be sure to attribute correctly with all their requirements at the end of the clip. And use the drop down menu for "commercial". It's free. And awesome. Cool search function for various kinds of music.
I think guys find music annoying for the most part. They want to hear your moans, the swishing of your pantyhose, the sound of your heels clicking on the floor. I also only use it on bootyshake or dancing clips, and sometimes I use it on a non-talkie fetish clip where there was an error and I lost the sound.
If you need to dance to the beat, best to play it while you're filming and hope you don't screw up. If rhythm doesn't really matter, it's much better to lay it on later because of edits.
I use Sony Vegas for video editing because it came free with my camcorder. It's like an easier version of Adobe Premiere.
I don't have a set script unless it's for a custom. I may write down a few ideas but I've been doing this long enough I can just ad lib. Camming made me good at getting into the role instantly and just letting the ideas flow in the moment. I find I often get better inspiration that way anyway, and I don't have to refer back to any aids. Streamlines the process more. Starting out you may need a script though, or at least a couple of notes and keywords to use written down.

Re: The Clip-Creation Support Thread
OP, I'm really glad You started this thread.
I've been thinking a lot lately on how to 'step up' my clips game.
I was just hired last week to be the star actress in another companies clips4sale shoot.
It was a great opportunity to not only observe how things are done, but to ask questions.
I shot 5 different scenes. All were unscripted, which I prefer, because that's one reason I was cast in them..i.e., my ability to improvise for 10 minutes per scene.
They didn't have any music playing, and had lots of lights to light the set.
This particular company has been around many years, so they obviously are doing exceptionally well.
For what they paid me, and the 3 male actors, plus camera men, photographers, it shows that they know what they are doing to make a profit.
Outfits and props were key .
The owner of the studio said the clips would be edited in 2-3 weeks. I'm sure they use hi tech editing equipment, but for my own clips, I use windowsmoviemaker, and don't do much editing, so I can shoot 3-4 clips, and upload the same day.

No music, I want them to hear my voice or anything else I am doing.
What programs do you use for recording/editing?
Logitech / windows live movie maker
Do you script, or just get an idea and go with it?
Script if it's a custom otherwise I have an idea and let it flow

Re: The Clip-Creation Support Thread
By the way, we do have a dedicated thread for clips4sale in Industry Insight where lots of us share about clip making in general :) https://www.stripperweb.com/forum/sh...ps4Sale-Thread

Re: The Clip-Creation Support Thread
Ah, was hoping this thread wouldn't get moved. Seems like people in the CC section often don't look around the rest of the site. :/

I used to have music in my videos, but honestly it was so difficult to make sure the audio was QUIET in the background and it was me not being used to moaning in videos. Now I have pure silence (no fans running or windows open) and it's just the sound of whatever I am doing! I think guys like it so much better.
What programs do you use for recording/editing?
I use Windows Movie Maker and VideoPad Editor if I need to mess with any of the effects for the video like color adjustment.
Do you script, or just get an idea and go with it?
This depends on what kind of video that I am making. If I am making a video that requires talking I will write down an outline on index cards and place them near the camera so I can see them if I run out of things to say. Otherwise for solo masturbation videos I tend to just go with it.

Re: The Clip-Creation Support Thread
Actually, I have something to add about music.
Music: I would say that using royalty free music is the best way to go. I used Audio Micro for shooting my machinima clips.
Here is the link:
http://www.audiomicro.com/royalty-free-music

Re: The Clip-Creation Support Thread
COMPLETELY agree.
I like to mix it up and also use a bit of royalty free music in my clips every now and then.
The owner just requests that you quote his name and links in your credits etc on the piece of music that you use, then you are free to use it.
With that kind of thing around, you dont need to use other music, the royalty free stuff is actually pretty damn good too.

Re: The Clip-Creation Support Thread
i was looking around for SO LONG on the clips4sale thread! i wanted to know if editing is a requirement but whenever i'd type in "editing" or "unedited" or any similar things i'd get like 100 results not answering what i wanted to know.
my goals for c4s aren't very high (for right now anyway), so i was hoping that having a few unedited videos would be ok.

You don't have to edit if you don't want to. There are some people that have perfected the art of being able to pull of a clip in 1 take. However, ADD A WATERMARK. Takes like 10 seconds to add and can be helpful to prove ownership if you need to do a DMCA as well as be additional advertising.
-
Re: The Clip-Creation Support Thread
I'm pretty good at getting it right in 1 take so my editing usually consists of just watermarking and adding a title and credit sequence, although occasionally I have to edit if my cat walks through the shot or I sneeze or something. You'll be fine with unedited clips but as Aurora says, make sure you watermark. I think there are a few ways to actually automatically watermark while you're recording so you don't have to add it in afterwards but i'm not sure how exactly to do that.

Re: The Clip-Creation Support Thread
I found a site that breaks down the laws behind music in videos. It also gives links to various sites that supply music licenses or creation software.

Re: The Clip-Creation Support Thread
Just one note about this. Pictures that are free for commercial use USUALLY have a "no porn" policy attached. So while they are free for commercial use, even re-selling, you can still not use them in your clips, even if you give full credit. I don't know about music, but in my experience with payment processing and lots and lots of things "online", everything changes when "porn" or "adult" comes into play.

Re: The Clip-Creation Support Thread
One note for those interested in making machinima. You can use moviestorm to make machinima and it will turn out great :)

C4S is meant to be for amateur clip makers (although I think they've stopped using that word now)...when I first started, I didn't edit my clips at all, so they had me clicking at the start and to finish at the end. I have a customer who likes face sitting clips, and he prefers it when girls don't edit out when they move around and change positions, it's all part of what he likes to see. I just edit the start and end, and cut out any bits where I tripped over my words, and where I've changed angles. Watermarking is a must though.

How do you make a watermark?

Most people use Windows Movie Maker to edit. For that program you just put your name or store info as a caption throughout the entire video.

Re: The Clip-Creation Support Thread
Do you play music in your clips at all? Do you edit it on later, or just have it playing while you record? I think I have one clip with music where i'm doing a strip tease, otherwise I use no music but do have a fan for white noise in the background. I never had anyone complain about the fan. I have shot clips with other people and they have had music playing in the background, it was very lightly playing but you could pick it up on the video very well. We shot the videos with music playing and didn't worry about it while editing.
What programs do you use for recording/editing? I use corel, but I need to upgrade to this: http://www.videostudiopro.com/en/pro...248.1437262029 Which is the most recent corel video editor. I like how easy it is to use, it makes windows movie maker look complicated. I am assuming the newest one is as easy as the one I have. I'll update this when I upgrade.
Do you script, or just get an idea and go with it? I wing it, pretty much everything.... always!

Re: The Clip-Creation Support Thread
I use windows live movie maker to edit my clips and add a caption - watermark.
I never have music in my clips.
-
Re: The Clip-Creation Support Thread
Gotta be careful about music on clips cos of the copyright/royalties issue.

humm I use some electronic tracks created by a friend (who gave them to me and I know he has no problenm with me using them) I would asume that is ok? its more like background music that doesnt make the silence awkard and it gives the clip a nice mood
