Warning: New IM Tactic. Stay FAR away from AdultVideos.com
hey ya'll,
Just wanted to post a warning to stay FAR away from a video content site called AdultVideos.com
I joined a few months back to see if my clips would sell there, and today I got emails from internetm0deling and cammedia.com welcoming me to IM. :O
At first I had no clue where these assholes got my email address (since it's one I never post publicly), so I did some digging and realized that IM and AdultVideos are the same company.
This is not a big deal to me as I have no interest in ever working on sm, but it could screw over any chicas who do join AdultVideos and then find themselves stuck in a virtual studio contract with these douchebags.
So in sum, unless you want to get roped into the worst of the worst studio out there, stay far away from AdultVideos. I've requested that my account be closed and if my clips are still up by tomorrow I'll be DMCA'ing their host and Google, but I'm kinda glad this happened so I can at least caution other chicas to steer clear.
For anyone who is unfamiliar with virtual studios, read Roast's wicked thread for more details on how to sign up to sites directly and keep more of your money
peace and $$$$$ :goodvibes
Re: Warning: New IM Tactic, Details Inside
Maybe put AdultVideos.com in the title too? That way if anyone else signed up or plans on signing up, they don't just scroll past.
Re: Warning: New IM Tactic. Stay FAR away from AdultVideos.com
So is that kosher with SM rules? Can they completely bait and switch you without knowing? I'll put it on the discussion list with Liz. My thought is that they can attempt to put you in the system for an SM signup, but if you never actually stream you can get dropped without their contract.
This will be a wonderful new source for "I didn't know I already had an SM account, sorry Katy...". Ugh!

From what I've seen from that particular studio they do it all the time in a lot of different ways to trick people.
I really wish SM would stop working with those snakes. They are the worst.

Oh loveshooks that's balls. :(
Wasn't there a thread about this site posted about a month ago? I just scrolled 10 pages but can't find it. When I get on my computer off my cell phone I'll find & link it so girls can read the other posters story as well.
Re: Warning: New IM Tactic. Stay FAR away from AdultVideos.com
I received two emails from IM, the first 'welcoming' me to their agency. That email contained a link to a profile on WebcamModels.com, the profile page had none of my pics but my name was there.
The second email I just received contained the following:
Hi Jesse,
Per your request, we have closed your model account (name removed) with InternetM0deling.com. I want to personally thank you for working with us, and you are always welcome to come back in the future if you change your mind.
Good luck!

fuck you Janet.
I have no idea whether I'd be bound by the one year cooling off period imposed by those assholes, I'm not interested in joining sm and I can't be bothered to waste my time signing up just to find out so I'll never know. Still, the account definitely did exist.
But yeah, AdultVideos.com, WebcamModeling.com and InternetM0deling.com are all one in the same, they're all owned and operated by Cam Media. Avoid avoid avoid.

It was the second thread you posted... my bad, I thought it was this site; but then again they really are all the same anyway.
Re: Warning: New IM Tactic. Stay FAR away from AdultVideos.com
These fuckers need to be put on blast in the biggest way ever...they're now doing youtube campaigns where girls make fan signs and give testimonials about how much they love IM. Their new site also looks sleek and they pay weekly, so no SM payment delays basically . All in an attempt to rob girls. They've become that much more cunning and its sick.
Re: Warning: New IM Tactic. Stay FAR away from AdultVideos.com
^^^Agreed. They are absolute scum. I can't believe this bait and switch BS is ok with SM. Hopefully they're just unaware and something can be done about it but I'm not holding my breath.

You're not bound until you stream long enough to make money. SM doesn't start enforcing the contract until you make money through them. I also vaguely heard that you have a week to change your mind, even if you make money, but I haven't seen that tested.
Re: Warning: New IM Tactic. Stay FAR away from AdultVideos.com
I'm honestly not surprised. When you create a streamate customer account, you have to be careful not to spend $80 on some porn site. Since SM already pull the bait and switch, I doubt they'll care.

that's great to hear, but considering that some chicas who are new to camming sign up to more than one site at once, they might not realize that this alleged 'approved application' is a trap.
like I wrote, this is not about me, I could care fuck all whether I'm barred from working a big box site. The next email could deny me a hamburger (vegan reference, not ED) and it would have the same effect. I mean, we rail against scum studios all the time and know the ins and outs of their tactics but still I got tricked into an account with one; that's the point. It's only because I recognized the IM domain name and my (common) user name in the header that I didn't just ignore it as random spam. To a chica who's just staring out though, or who has no idea what monetary loses these parasites cause, it's 'oh awesome, a site has accepted me'. They log in, stream, collect a few checks and then stumble across sw and realize what really happened. aaand their fucked
so yeah, not about the particulars of the sm/IM contract as it pertains to me, more about the damage this sort of practice can cause within the contract that sm to it's shame enforces.
Re: Warning: New IM Tactic. Stay FAR away from AdultVideos.com
Same thing happened to me! I had no idea why I was getting emails from IM .. I created an account along time ago on adultvideos and sold one video I think but had forgot about it. Then I get an email saying they closed my account due to no activity... wtf ever
