found by family on twitter
I hope this doesn't post twice..
Recently a close family member found my twitter. I do not have location turned on, nor is there anything in my account that would point to my real identity. I showed up under people you may know... or who to follow but I do not know their name on there to see. Does that just happen or do they follow up to no good feeds??
To avoid being watched or followed aside from geographic restrictions I already have had set..is there any way to feel secure and safe again? Change alias? Etc etc.. i knew it was always a possibility but I want to prevent it from happening or ruining my personal life completely. I have danced for years but camming has become very financially sound..any advice? Support?
Re: found by family on twitter
Do you have a personal Twitter as well or s Google+? If so these all flag up your contacts and people you may know via cookies on your computer :-/ I deleted my personal Twitter immediately as it showed me my fiancé as 'someone I may know' on my work account!!! Same thing happens with Facebook.
Re: found by family on twitter
Also make sure the emails you use for work related things and personal are different
Re: found by family on twitter
Definitely did that as well as my sign up information for everything is work name...do cellphone towers or even signing in seperate aaccount on my phone like personal facebook while logged into work twitter matter? Lol sorry if that sounds silly but..
Re: found by family on twitter
Yes! Always Log out of your social media accounts. Clear your cookies frequently. You may even want to use separate browsers or VPN. These sites track your IP address so this could be why it's connecting your real account with your work accounts - it sees it as one in the same since your logging on from the same physical location.
These Social media sites could give 2 f&cks about your privacy hence why there are threads here where cam girls say they deleted their social media profiles.
Re: found by family on twitter
I tried using twitter after a hiatus and the first thing it did was recommend I follow my mom. Noooope. Deleted it.
Re: found by family on twitter
I recently discovered that with chrome, you can have separate users. So now I use separate chrome browsers for my personal stuff and for my adult industry stuff. I make sure never to log in to personal accounts on the adult one or vice versa. And as for phones, it's safest to use a separate phone (maybe a cheap pay-as-you-go phone) for the adult stuff. Especially if you have an android phone, as that uses your gmail account for everything. Facebook is even scarier.
Re: found by family on twitter
So glad Twitter is not very popular in my country, especially among older peeps.
I will be asking my sister for her Twitter handle to block it just in case. Won't be suspicious since I've got another acc that she knows about and we share fandoms.
Re: found by family on twitter
If u have a personal facebook and a camgirl twitter account then that's probably why you were found by family members, the same thing happened to me. The way cookies work is why your family was able to find you. You can use separate browsers... one for camming and one for personal stuff but I'd honestly use 2 different devices for camming and personal stuff.
One of the reasons why I no longer have a Facebook is because of things being linked and privacy in general. Now I use 2 different computers...one is for camming and one is for personal use. Knowing that things can easily be linked and hearing about guys hacking/stalking I don't feel comfortable having my personal stuff on the same computer as my camming stuff. I've even been thinking about getting 2 separate internet providers in the future since I read that hackers can access other computers if the same router or modem is used.
Re: found by family on twitter
Between the mercury retrograde coming up and my astrology telling me to back up data and protect passwords, it's official. I need a separate phone for camming.
Re: found by family on twitter
The whole facebook thing is very annoying to say the least. I have a personal account and one for all my modelling stuff but it managed to twig that the two accounts were linked and the suggestions for people from personal life kept popping up. If that happens, you KNOW that you will also be suggested on their end too as a friend. I think this happened to me as I had a couple of the same friends on both accounts so had to just start afresh and keep them on one. Also if it asks you to confirm your number for security reasons it's best to have two separate numbers or just don't add a number at all. I'm really anal about keeping things separate now. Would hate for either of my parents/school friends to receive a notification to add me (my modelling account) as a friend! I have them blocked for good measure now.
I also don't like how google links accounts and makes suggestions based on who you are friends with on one, it's very frustrating.
This same thing happens on Twitter too so be careful with accounts.
PS: I keep my personal FB account very bland and on lock down. Don't even have my face for the display picture.
Re: found by family on twitter
If you want to be super secure you can always use a VM with a VPN running and never go on anything personal on the VM.
I do it just because it keep my computer tidy, when I start doing camming related things I open the camming VM and can still go and do personal things on my main OS!

Does using your browser in incognito mode help any?
