SM Encoder: Confused on changing the PRESET field
Hi there --
I think I am doing this Encoder thing correct (but maybe I'm not).
On the SM instructions, it says,- Make sure the Preset field is set to “Custom”
I find the XML file I downloaded. I 'OPEN' it. The field where I need to enter 'CUSTOM' has some (LETTERS & NUMBERS) in black & white that I cannot delete or modify.
What am I missing?
Thanks bunches xoxox!!!
Re: SM Encoder: Confused on changing the PRESET field
Open the .xml file with the encoder through "Open Profile".
Re: SM Encoder: Confused on changing the PRESET field
When I click 'File - Open' (I don't see 'Open Profile' option).
Should I use the'Edit' feature instead?
Maybe I need a screenshot.

Re: SM Encoder: Confused on changing the PRESET field
What version of the encoder are you using? This is 3.2:
Attachment 41633
Go to "File" then, "Open Profile"
Attachment 41634
Select the .xml file from your computer.
Attachment 41635
Open the .xml file.
Once you are happy with your settings, save the profile you just loaded so you don't have to keep redoing the settings. Go to "File" then, "Save Profile".

Okkkkaaaayyyyy...
Now I am TOTALLY CONFUSED. Mine looks nothing like those screenshots. I thought I just OPENED the.xml from 'MY COMPUTER' --> 'DOWNLOADS'.
I see your screenshots say ADOBE FLASH MEDIA ENCODER.
Now I know I am utterly confused.
Re: SM Encoder: Confused on changing the PRESET field
Wait! Hold up. I think I didn't do the FIRST DOWNLOAD for the Adobe. I did the 2nd download... (located further down on the SM Support page)
....lemme try this again :)

It WORKED!!! You are AWESOME to help me!!! I posted a new thread about how my night went (with the SM Encoder)... and thanks to you, I believe my customers (and myself), had a better experience.

Re: SM Encoder: Confused on changing the PRESET field
Odd. I successfully installed the 3.2 version of the Encoder on my "outdated" laptop. But, I keep getting the SAME error message on my newer laptop (got the same error for 3.1 and 3.2).
I am surfing the web looking for a solution....
I can still use the older laptop, but it's SMALL and not as much gig and not very fast.
