Yes. Keep your eyes and ears open, mouth shut, watch your money and ALWAYS POINT YOUR TOES!
Re: Starting tomorrow night
Read thru all the stickies in Stripping General, Newbie Board & Hustle Hut. Then read thru them all at least two more times. The search bar is your friend, & putting your search terms inside quotations will filter out a lot of the extraneous results. (I know that last bit probably sounds kinda :detective: but sm times the search spits back a bunch of tangential stuff that needs to be sifted thru.)
Stay sober. Run a search on 'drinking alcohol at work' -- there are many threads on this subj, sm of them are quite recent.
This is not like a vanilla job where you're expected to 'bond' w/ coworkers & 'be a team player'. Don't try to make friends. There will often be politics in the club just like in other workplaces, & esp until you get that figured out, the best (& safest) thing you can do is be polite, but keep to yourself.
Customers may try to stir dancer drama for their own enjoyment, esp when you're new. They pull a lot more shit on the new girls than they do on girls that have 'been round the block'. If you're sitting w/ a customer that says smtg negative abt another dancer, don't 'smile & agree' in the hopes of buttering him up for a sale. Either counter w/ a compliment abt the other girl, or if it's a question along the vein 'Do you like/get on well w/ Dancer X?' just say you don't know Dancer X that well. This falls under club politics -- you nvr know who knows whom in the club.
Cut yourself sm slack if/when things don't seem to be going so hot. Success at this job is very individualised, & there is a real learning curve to navigate. Luckily you've discovered StripperWeb!
Listen to your gut. Trust yourself. Be strong abt maintaining your boundaries.
Re: Starting tomorrow night
of course it's totally normal to be nervous. you'll be fine. just focus on the customers/ignore dancer drama. maybe have a glass of wine but don't drink too much, and just try to have fun!
