what to do when retiring from camming
Hello girls!
I have a question for whomever can help. I've been doing camming for almost 13 years and I am soo tired of it. Problem is, I didn't have time to start anything else on the side, because I have a family to take care of, too. So now I am stuck. I have to keep working online because I need the income, but I am sick and beyond tired of it. I feel I am dying inside every day when I have to lock myself in my room and spend hours chatting live. I feel Im getting too old for this, if you know what I mean (not as in age, but in ...spirit).
What is to be done for a retired cam model? I am a hard working girl, is not that I am lazy or anything, just that I don't feel like doing live videochatting anymore, it's a torment for me. And I still wanna work from home, of course :) I know about clips4sale, but are there other things to be done, too, to combine them and make a living out of that?
I hope I wrote clearly, Im a bit fuzzy at the moment :)
Thank you for reading and for answering!
Kissies and good luck to all!
Linda

Re: what to do when retiring from camming
I myself have been camming since 2003 I am also tired of it. I have learned that from camming I really enjoy the digital marketing aspect of it. So then I have discovered a new opportunity of being involved in network marketing and internet marketing. It will be something that I will be able to really develop my skills and it will position myself in a new career that I can see myself doing for the next 5 years or more.
So many of us getting into camming with no exit plan at all because we come into this business where the income is alluring and the work at home lifestyle is very seductive. If you are interested in looking at other work at home opportunities I might have something that could interest you, but honestly if camming is your only source of income right now you will need to grin and bare it until your new opportunity replaces your existing income.
If building a a store on clips4sale interest you great follow that, but you will also need to know if you do not make a plan for your future in it you could end up in the same place you are now, of hating it and feeling stuck.

Re: what to do when retiring from camming
There are a lot of things you can do from home (problem is, most are minimum wage). Google workplacelikehome and join the message board there.

Re: what to do when retiring from camming
I think that an exit strategy really is important when one enters this industry. Let's be honest--most of us got into this because a) we lacked other options, b) we needed really fast money, c) normal day jobs don't work for us (illness, kids, workplace friction, etc.) or d) some combination of these factors. I personally had hit the end of my rope with asshole boss after asshole boss, truly awful pay, and a grueling schedule that was destroying my body and leaving me exhausted for very little return. Enter camming--one of the best decisions of my life, but also something I'm going to eventually burn out on.
I have several college degrees and I still struggle with finding a straight job. If I could get something paying $40,000+ per year, 9-5, in my field or management, I'd take it. However, that just doesn't exist right now. Basically, I know I can't do this forever, but I also can't imagine finding a straight job that will pay enough to meet my needs without landing me right back in the hell hole jobs that made me start camming to begin with. I've been forced to accept that I need to create my own job, be that in terms of starting a business or a similar work from home career.
Personally, my exit strategy is to start day trading. I have several family members who've done this successfully for years and my analytic skills are very strong. I understand the market and how to make a profit off of it. What I need now is the capital to start trading. Enter camming--the only job where I can feasibly save $30,000+ in a short period of time to start trading and continue to add more money to my trade account until I'm making more than enough to live on. My plan is going to take 2-3 years. Since I put an exit plan in place, I have been way more motivated to work and much less liable to burn out.
So there's my two cents--start a business, find a work at home job as others have suggested, or stick to the adult industry in some way/shape/form seems to be the best options right now.

Re: what to do when retiring from camming
Etsy and ebay are life savers. I have stores on each and when I'm sick or want to take time off (sometimes months when I'm burned out), I just put stuff up on my stores. Is it as much as I make camming? No. But they do make it possible to cover basic bills and groceries with a little extra to spare. I know that I'd bank on both if I put some serious effort into it for a few months.
Garage sales are awesome for stocking up on things to flip for cheap :D I recently got a china set from one for $25, washed it up and almost tripled my investment. You also get a lot of $10-15 sales, but they all add up nicely.

Re: what to do when retiring from camming
You mentioned clips4sale, which is the only site i'm currently working on (taking a break from camming). I upload 3 clips per day (which is 6 releases because I release each clip in two formats) and I make more than enough to live on. I make a minimum of $50 per day, most days I get $100 or very close to it, some days $150. Admittedly, I live with a roommate in a cheap area, but it's enough to pay my bills and then some. And i'm not saying if you sign up and upload 3 clips per day you're guaranteed to make good money, i'm just saying there's definitely a possibility that you can make enough to live on and more just making solo fetish clips. I honestly thought solo girls on c4s didn't make much in general and that fetish stuff wouldn't pay well for me, but it really is possible. Best surprise of my life! :)
There's a clips4sale thread in Industry Insight for more info. As for other things to top that income up, in the adult industry there's custom videos, snapchat/kik, phone sex, sexting. In the non-adult industry, lots of online work-from-home jobs like filling in surveys etc but like LaurieLegs said, the pay is usually minimum wage. But if it's just to top up income from c4s or other adult work, it could be a good side job and a break from sex work.
Hope this helps!

Re: what to do when retiring from camming
I practically could have wrote that myself..LMAO!.. I have been going strong for 13 yrs also.. I figure I might as well stay for the next 7 yrs or less and retire.. do you have anything like savings, retirement, equity, college funds?? I plan on just doing real estate investing and maybe buy a absentee owner franchise or more.. depends on how things turn out for me.. so I HOPE to god I can retire from full time cam by 50.. I don't mind doing cam if I don't have to 7 days a week.. not a problem.. but constantly working 7 days a week for 15 yrs resulted in really NO life at all.. but I had NO choice TBH.

Re: what to do when retiring from camming
I've been camming for the last 5 years and I'm soooooooooo sick of it!! I'm going to be 50 next month (now that's a hard pill to swallow) luckily I'm pretty fit and can pass for 38 (fools lol) on cam but I feel like 100 on the inside. Last year I started a nail polish line that's just starting to take off. I've been hustling the fuck out of it so I'll no longer have to shove dildos down my throat and up my pussy. My birthday is just a little more than a month away so realistically I'll still be camming unless something amazing happens. So that's my plan B.

Re: what to do when retiring from camming
I'll be retiring next year because I'm finishing a master's degree program and (hopefully) will find work in my industry. For me, I had to think, "what do I really like? What am I passionate about? What am I good at?" and then I looked up stats on what industries I might find a job in that could pay the amount of money I wanted. So in my own case, I really like helping people, I'm passionate about helping people understand each other, connecting people with resources they need, and educating people. Shit, there are a ton of things someone might do with that. Of course, I'm a cam girl, so I basically hate getting up early, so teaching K-12 is NOT for me...and in doing research I found that teaching at the college level is a very long, difficult slog that might never pay a living wage so uh, that's out. In the end, I'm going to school for human services; therapy and research. Going through that process for yourself might help you find out a long term plan.
...but what do you do in the short term? I'm with all the other folks who've said find something else to do that allows you to work from home. Have you thought about freelance tech work? Again, just something in my personal experience. Lots of the same PITA stuff as camming; finding your own work, haggling with clients, nobody valuing what you do, looking for work more often than you're working....but at least nobody is cussing about you being a "cunt" because you won't show your tits for free AND you do feel like you're really working your brain...which I've personally found to be extremely rewarding. It's nice to be valued (even a little) for more than your pure physical form. I took courses on Lynda.com, set up a basic web design portfolio and then joined some freelance sites like freelancer.com
OR/AND you could do affiliate work. Not just for porn, but for like, eBay and Amazon. I've done the Amazon thing. It took a while (about the same amount of time as C4S) to ramp up enough to pay real money, but it was fun, interesting, and new.

Re: what to do when retiring from camming
Not a cammer but I am always researching alternate streams of income and work from home ideas! When I took time off dancing I started selling stuff on Amazon and Ebay. I didn't care for Amazon and have just stuck with Ebay since then (although many pickers/resellers LOVE Amazon so it's worth looking into.) I recommend the youtube channels Raiken Profit, GlobalVoodoo and Cody Hawk for researching ebay and amazon selling if you're interested.
I make enough to pay my bills from ebay alone, though I am still very new to it so I'm not at at power seller status yet. Just do tons of research!
I've also recently started writing for a site called textbroker. If you like writing and have good grammar, this could be an option for you. The pay isn't amazing but I do know that some people make a full time living from it. Like any business it takes time to build up.
Or you could always start a youtube channel/blog/ebook about camming! I'm sure this industry is growing every year and more people are interested in it. I know when I looked into camming I started searching for every youtube video about it I could find. Ultimately I decided it's just not for me and I'm sticking with dancing/ebay but you get my point. ;)
Something else I've looked into and considered is learning to code or do web design. You don't need a degree and there are many affordable online classes you can take. I did take a course and learned some basic coding. These jobs are in high demand and pay well. Good luck!

Re: what to do when retiring from camming
Some really good ideas here, great read - thanks! :)
I have never known what I wanted to do, my strength is definitely languages but I didn't enjoy Teaching English as Foreign Language, and could never find a job that involved the need for stroking cats, random Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter knowledge - haha.
Seriously though, there are plenty of things you could do, what do you enjoy doing? I have a Bachelor's degree and am thinking of going on to do a Mater's but still don't know what I want to do with my life! I think opening a cat sanctuary (!) or perhaps training to be a therapist could be options though!

Re: what to do when retiring from camming
Thank you for answering honey! Yes, i sure am interested in other work at home opportunities, if I can fit it somehow in my schedule along with camming (for now).

You might want to reach the book cash machine. it talks about turning skills you already have into a business in 7 weeks.

Re: what to do when retiring from camming
Thank you Issabelle! I know what you mean, I had about the same reasons for starting camming as you did! Only that my college degree is not in a field where I can count on analytic skills .... I guess I will have to learn some more before changing carrers :) I would stick to the adult industry, at least for a while, cause all that I cannot stand anymore is the live cam stuff, otherwise I am okay with it... but I need more options in the off-line adult field, I am completely illiterate in that...

Re: what to do when retiring from camming
Thank you anonymous camgirl! I wish you the best of luck with what you want to do! Nope, I dont have much, and I am not in the USA either. In Europe the money go like in the black hole soo fast, everything is alot more expensive here, the dollar has less value than in the States. Investing would have been a great idea, indeed.
