Trying to hide my name and keep privacy - my options?
As a future sugar baby, I keep seeing recommendations to file a fictitious name or DBA (doing business as) at my local county. But if I do, I need to publish a statement with my name and fake name in a newspaper, and I am wondering how I can keep my privacy?
I can take cash, but I look forward to accepting checks and taking other stuff (such as cars, homes, and copyrights) under my fake name too (and not having LLC or Inc next to my fake name). Are there better options for privacy (without being too expensive or complicated) than DBA? I don't care if the IRS or government knows what I do, but I want to protect myself against private investigators and other people who are resourceful enough to dig through my fictitious name when I go this route.
First, I'll use a fake name that is common and inconspicuous enough for people to think it's a real name, so they don't bother to look me up. What's next?? Should I go an extra mile and register a DBA in a different city or even state, to make it harder to track me?
Re: Trying to hide my name and keep privacy - my options?
I would like answers to this too.
Re: Trying to hide my name and keep privacy - my options?
Can you PM me I have an inexpensive ebook I read that answers this exact question that you may find helpful.
Re: Trying to hide my name and keep privacy - my options?
I've run into this problem from the other side. You can create a DBA and spend extra money to make it harder to find out the true owner's name. I'm sure miss.a.p1600 will show how this is done. The problem is that when your sugar daddy gifts you a car or house or more than 14k worth of cash/gifts in one year the gift tax will kick in. That can get expensive. Often using cash is the best way of handling your allowance (and it's anonymous). What I've used is adding the sugar baby to the payroll of one of my companies. That way they get a company car, benefits, etc. The downside is that you cannot be anonymous.
If you're getting a large monthly cash allowance be careful doing many small regular deposits. This is called structuring and it can get you in trouble. It's better to deposit the money all at once. Like you said, you're not worried about the IRS or government knowing what you are doing.
Re: Trying to hide my name and keep privacy - my options?
Spend extra money to make it harder to find out my name? I am really interested in the details if you won't mind PMing me? (even though miss.a.p1600 may give me the ebook)
I don't mind a bit of less anonymity if it comes to a point that the guy likes and trusts me enough to give me a car/house, but I definitely don't want POTS or non-sugar people to be able to find out.

The following states allow you to remain anonymous while owning a company: New Mexico, Delaware, Colorado, Wyoming, Indiana, Oklahoma, Maine. Of these both New Mexico and Delaware are good choices for your company. Delaware in particular is good because of the flexible reporting requirements. If you don't live in Delaware you will need a registered agent (www.incorp.com is an example) to handle your yearly filings. This should cost just a few hundred dollars a year to maintain after the initial setup.
Keep in mind that someone determined to find you most likely will still be able to, especially if you accepted checks into your company account from that person. But it will make it much harder for the average nut-case to bother you. Also keep in mind that social media is a much higher risk in general than bank accounts to your privacy.
Re: Trying to hide my name and keep privacy - my options?
Hi all this is my first post here, I was about to start a new thread but my question is very similar so hopefully this is a good place!
I have an online SD who wants to include me in his will (he has literally no family irl its actually pretty sad) but I'd still like to maintain my privacy as much as possible. He has my first name (but a different spelling) and phone number, and has me on there as that. Seems like that should be enough if something were to happen to him, but I was thinking about creating a DBA that sounds like a real name, and giving him a 'fake' real name so he has something to put on there that is legally really me, but without being my full legal name. He is international so I'm not sure if that complicates or simplifies things. By the way I have known him for seven years and he has never asked to meet me or for my real info so this isn't just something he's saying to try to impress me or win points or something. He is in the hospital right now he really does want me on there in case something should happen to him. Any ideas would be amazing but I realize that this is a super unique situation~! Thank you for reading!

1) Make sure there is not going to be any blowback/crazy complications. Honestly you have to take the risk. I personally would be careful of such an offer, but if you both have some sort of special bond, I guess someone could do this. (I've heard of people doing it in real life with people they have known for a while, so it's possible....) Can you afford to get a Private Investigator to see if this guy has relatives who might pop out of the woodwork?
2) There might be more paperwork/lawyer fees involved if he is trying to make you Power Of Attorney. You might not be recognized as such if you don't reside in the same nation/ area....Just saying.....
Re: Trying to hide my name and keep privacy - my options?
Far better option - get an anonymous LLC.
I'm going with New Mexico, but Delaware is also a popular option.
Check this out: http://senoritarosie.com/General_LLC_Info.html
Re: Trying to hide my name and keep privacy - my options?
I think if someone is really determined to find out who you are, they will but doing all or some of the above should be enough to hide you from several people. This is all good info, thanks
Re: Trying to hide my name and keep privacy - my options?
So how would an anonymous LLC be better than a Dba? Just for privacy reasons it's harder to find out who owns it?
I'm prepared for any complications, it'd be worth it for the amount of money! I'm just concerned with the legality of it, but it seems like there shouldn't be too much of a problem, people leave fortunes to cats all the time lol. I'm just hoping that setting up a dba wouldn't complicate things further, as opposed to him just having a first name and phone number, which he is fine with.

I think, since this would become an international thing, that you should consult a lawyer.
I know that when you file for survivor's benefits the information you put on the application has to match the information they have on file. So you would be best off having him also send you a copy of his papers he fills out IF he is comfortable doing that. You would get the check under that listed name. The issue would be if the spelling you gave him is so different that your bank won't cash the check. As long as you are listed as a beneficiary for a good amount of time, I don't see you losing out to any family that comes out of the woodwork. They can take you to court over it, but you would just need to prove he was of sound mind and not coerced into listing you as a beneficiary. Again, I do believe that consulting with a lawyer would be best. This stuff is just based off MY experience.
Re: Trying to hide my name and keep privacy - my options?
As abarrett said, create an LLC in one of the states that allows you to be anonymous. Make sure he gives you the name of the law firm that will be the executor of his estate when he passes on. Contact that firm with documentation of your LLC and they will send you a check. There can be complications based on the country. Do you mind saying where he lives?

I'm definitely not a lawyer, so don't take this as legal advice. I think part of why people are trying to dissuade you from getting a DBA as opposed to an anonymous LLC is because DBA officially links your legal name to the DBA. In other words, your DBA puts your name in public record. I have no idea how this works for inheritance though, and if he's international, you're probably better off talking to a lawyer from his country.
Re: Trying to hide my name and keep privacy - my options?
He lives in the UK, but I think he's moving to the US. I honestly don't think he would even go to the effort of trying to find my identity, especially if he thought he already knew it... I guess the complication I'm afraid of is, if I give him a name that is actually a DBA or an LLC, but he thinks it is a real name, would that create some kind of complication in the sense that I'm somehow misleading him? I.e. would it be simpler to just leave him with a first name and a phone number, and hope that the executor would just use my phone number to contact me ? He is totally fine with that. He has never asked with my real name, and apparently he's already put me on there with just that info. He didn't ask me, he simply informed me that he'd already done it.
Re: Trying to hide my name and keep privacy - my options?
Mondi, in general executors can be given a wide latitude in distributing funds so your first name and phone number should work. The only issue would be if someone contested the will. Also, I wouldn't worry about using a DBA/LLC name. He's never asked for your real name so it doesn't seem to be important to him. Most of us guys understand how important privacy is.

Let's be serious for a minute here...
Some "online" guy in another country, who you've never met in person and who doesn't even know your name, wants to put you in his will? I smell a HUGE pile of bullshit.
I can't believe this is even being discussed as if it's real. THIS IS NOT REAL.
I know it sounds wonderful to you, but that isn't a realistic scenario AT ALL WHATSOEVER. That simply does not happen in the real world. That's a pipe dream. Pie in the sky. Get your head out of the fantasy clouds girl and stop letting this dude play you. He's just playing on your sympathy. He is bullshitting you and you are just entertainment for him.
You've never met in person - people do not will money to strangers.
He's never asked to meet you - that means he isn't interested in meeting you in person and doesn't care who you really are.
He's in another country - you have no idea what his family or health situation really is.
He's in the hospital - Are you sure he's really in the hospital?
Re: Trying to hide my name and keep privacy - my options?
Hey everyone, some of the guys on seekingarrangement are asking if I had an arrangement before. lol what should I say. I feel like they'll like it more if I am fresh meat and give me a shot, but they're probably pay better if they think I've done it before hence have standards and not try to take advantage. Am I wrong?

The guys that play the girls for freebies will prefer a young (i.e. 18-22) girl with no experience or prior arrangement. If you're looking for a an actual arrangement it's better to say that you've done it before. There are quite a few girls that try out being a sugar baby but find out it's not for them. So from a guys perspective someone that's had a good prior experience means less problems. Also, if you only talk about how bad your prior sugar daddies are, that would be a red flag.
