I watched The Force Awakens trailer and teared up? I never realized how emotionally attached I was to this series.
Ever since I saw the first full trailer, I've been going spoiler-free. But it does seem that the team behind the new trilogy are very much trying to make the new movies live up to the originals, almost an apology for the prequels. For example, the use of practical effects over the CGI that made parts of I-III look like a video game. And of course, the characters we actually care about.
Speaking of which, where's Luke?
Are we not allowed to post trailers here? Luke is coming. Anyways I tried to post the similarities between the opening of the Jungle Book trailer and The Force Awakens trailer. Both with a singular piano sound..a pause and then a question JB "Are you alone out here?" and then TRA "Who are you". But it wouldnt let me post the clips. You guys will just have to see it on your own.
@R-209. I think the secret was how people dealt with Lucus, seriously. After listening to some of the film and video documentaries in past 25 years or so, I've come to the conclusion, maybe you share this and maybe you don't, that initially Lucas wasn't surrounded by YES MEN. For Ep. 4-6, Lucas, to some extent, bowed to and listened to the input of others. "Er, Lucas, that sounds good, but, maybe it would be *better* if we did it *this* way instead." Whereas for Ep, 1-3, we had a generation of people thinking "George Lucas is god" and "we should do what we says." Hence why I call them "yes men." Success is a cruel bitch.
Maybe with Disney at the reins now, things with improve. We can certainly hope.
This is my opinion.
And Sebastian Shaw, when Luke took Vader's mask off in ROTJ. Poor guy, having his Force ghost replaced by Hayden Christiansen.
Was just reading an article about what a colossal prick Prowse was once he discovered his voice was going to be dubbed. He also got pissy when someone else put on the suit to do the fight choreography Prowse couldn't handle. He was so obnoxious, he was blacklisted from all LucasFilm events. Come on, man. You got the role mostly because you just happen to be big enough to fill out a costume. Be grateful that you had a part in playing the most iconic villain in all of screen history.
As for Luke, I think he's in hiding on Dagobah or some other remote planet, perhaps afraid he will be unable to resist the Dark Side.
Anyone catch SUPERGIRL? I thought it was mostly alright. Melissa Benoist is just perfect. And unlike Smallville, we see her in costume and using all her powers right from the start. Not quite understanding why all the Phantom Zone escapees would just be sitting around doing nothing for twenty-plus years, but maybe there's a reason for that? The Calista Flockhart character is terrible, and needs to go quickly. My biggest disappointment with the show is that it's on CBS, which means no crossover with "The Flash" or the other DC shows on the CW. Now we'll NEVER see Kara and Barry have a race to see who's the fastest. :(
CBS also owns the CW. I wouldn't count crossovers out quite yet, especially with the goings-on on the Flash this season (Earth X, Y, Z). They know how much the fans of those shows want it.
The first TV spot is out:

Still looking good.
Apparently, the kids' version of "The Force Awakens" novelization has been (accidentally?) released, and contains major spoilers for the film. So... BEWARE! Honestly, I thought the trailers were starting to give away too much.
MEANWHILE... "Ash vs. Evil Dead" is on tonight. Has anyone been watching it? I'm enjoying it, but I can't believe it's only a half hour. "Jessica Jones" is on Netflix, which I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to watch.
And I still love "The Flash" with all my heart.
OMG!!! STAR WARS THE FORCE AWAKENS WAS SO AWESOME!!! I really can't get over how much I love the movie!
Can't wait to go see this next week everyone keeps talking about it, spilling spoilers!
Good to hear! I probably won't be able to see it for a couple days, so I am exercising extreme caution in avoiding spoilers. The trailers have given away too much, I think. I remember before "The Phantom Menace" came out, I causally glanced at the soundtrack, which spoiled the ending.
There's a lot of surprises, I mean really huge surprises. I've seen the trailers and they don't give much away. I will say one thing, it's kind of weird seeing these unfamiliar characters interacting in very familiar settings. I was completely sucked into this movie.
Books to Read Before You See Star Wars: The Force Awakens
I've read Star Wars: Aftermath, by Chuck Wendig and Star Wards: Lords of the Sith, by Paul S. Kemp. Aftermath was okay, didn't really get into it because I didn't recognize the characters, but Lords of the Sith was really good.
