Re: Beauty Randoms Thread
1.) I hate how with my red hair sometimes when I curl it I end up looking like Peg Bundy when I was going for Angie Everhart and 2.) I'm probably the palest I have been in years right now and I am not a fan. I think it looks fine in person and on cam my face looks fine, but on cam obviously my body looks a million times better with a good tan. Plus on cam my body looks like a smurf's too because I'm one of those people that's so pale that I'm clear, and I'm really veiny so with no tan I'm basically blue. It's a pain dressing myself too because with a tan there's so many more colors that look good on me. Usually in the summer I like to wear a bunch of golden outfits on cam with lots of gold body jewelry, I like to wear really yellowy greens, turquoise, violet, oranges.... I can wear so many bolder makeup colors with a tan too than I can pale.
Unfortunately with where I live now I have nowhere private to lay out. I have a big ass yard but it's open and flat and there's like 4 different houses that look onto it. I was thinking maybe if I cut a pair of shorts up really small and lay out in those plus a sports bra then it won't look too raunchy. I just hate having anything other than a thong tanline on my ass. :grumpy:

I have access to a shared pool area, however it's usually very quiet during daytime (weekdays). I won't wear a pure thong, but I do take the chance to squeeze my bikini bottom "in between" to minimize tan lines.
Being "allergic" to tan lines, I do visit the tanning bed regularly to even them out. It doesn't need to take many minutes though.
(I won't be an advocate for the extensive use of tanning beds, but I do think the opinions on them has become too polarized and doesn't need to be crazy dangerous if used wisely.)

Here there’s tanning salons everywhere, but I don’t know how it is at your place though…

I really enjoy listening to those subliminal beauty meditation videos on YouTube. I play them at night before I fall asleep.

Do you have a recommendation for a good Ceylon cinnamon tea? I know the more common type has been tied to liver stuff.

what's your favorite brand of invisible band strip lashes?

Re: Beauty Randoms Thread
I might have to go back to being blonde. I like the red hair and I love not having to go to a salon but the upkeep and the fact that I can't match my eyebrows to it is annoying. The upkeep is annoying because I like my hair to be that gingery, brassy color that the dye fades to after being washed enough times (and my natural color isn't light enough for initially ginger dye to work on it), but my roots look so awful with red hair that by the time it fades to the right color it's time to dye it again so it's back to being unnaturally vivid red. I am going to try just dying the roots next time, but that's going to be impossible for the back of my head where I can't see them.
As far as the brows, I have dyed them with the hair dye and even though it's permanent dye it only lasts for literally one day. When I use brow products that match the hair dye they still look too dark and up close it's very obvious where the brow product is placed because of the color differentiation so up close they look jacked. I usually just settle for non-matching brows and use my regular brown brow product, and normally I like brows that are darker than the hair and I think it looks fine in person, but on camera brows that match the red hair definitely look better.

I've got into the habit of sprinkling cinnamon onto food a couple of times a day - usually porridge, yogurt, a smoothie or something else it would naturally go with anyway. I don't know if theres a noticeable benefit but it tastes nice and theres also no downside so have kept doing it.
Skincare - I started with retinol, finally. I avoided it for years out of a fear it would ruin my sensitive skin ( I have some mild rosacea too), but recently saw a new dr for botox who is also a dermatologist and he told me retinol is actually good for rosacea!
He recommended two brands they use at his clinic (ZO and Environ) but I decided to try the Dermalogica overnight retinol and so far so good. No results yet but more importantly for me, no adverse reaction. I am only applying it every 3rd night with plenty of buffer cream to dilute it so am happy to wait longer for results if it means I can avoid a major purging stage.

Numi and Tazo brands has some good ones. But not sure which cinnamon tho, so I don't drink it everyday.

I did a face peel last night, Dr Dennis Gross.

I also use Alpha H brand vit. A, C (got a starter kit w/a few things.
& I just got Pacifica brand retinol, it comes out of the dropper too much.
I like a retinol oil from Sephora

I ordered this bronzer called Bahama Mama from theBalm on Amazon. I'm really excited to try it out. The advertising claims that it doesn't have any orange undertones which is great bc I'm currently traumatized from a Gucci bronzer I bought that looks awful on me, and my skin is pale at the moment. NARS Laguna bronzer has been my go-to bronzer for almost 10 years. I'm wanting to experiment and try other options but so far nothing has beat it.

I've had bahama mama from the balm on amazon for yearrrrrss :). Love it.
Has anyone heard of wegovy injections for weight loss? Sheryl Underwood lost 90 lbs from using this. Crazy! Edit: Oh it seems it triggers something in your brain that deals with hunger. I don't have that problem :(.

I'm loving it so far! Definitely no orangey/reddish undertones and on the same level as my beloved NARS bronzer. I think I'll be sticking Bahama Mama from now on!

Do you see good results from the retinols you've used? How long did it take to see a difference?
I read so much about people reacting strongly to retinol so am really surprised that my skin has tolerated it. It's an OTC one that I'm using, but supposed to be fairly potent.
It's been 3 weeks now and I have gradually increased the amount and am now applying it every second night. My skin looks just a bit more glowy and I have had a few small breakouts but nothing drastic.
I think my skin was in decent condition to begin with (I started retinol to address a few lines around my eyes and overall just refine my skin as opposed to any severe scarring etc) so maybe there's less to purge? Really hope I'm not speaking too soon!

Re: Beauty Randoms Thread
^ I do it every 3-4 days.
I like it. Skin feels really smooth a couple days after it.
I can't seem to tolerate more than that so I just stick with roughly that often.

Re: Beauty Randoms Thread
^What happens if you overdo it? Peeling, breakouts? Which one do you use?

I figured out a solution for this. I found an orangey mascara on Amazon that does the trick.

Re: Beauty Randoms Thread
Does anyone wash your hands before applying any skincare product? Right now I do but I only regularly cleanse, moisturize right after and occasionally use retinol. I'm thinking about using a serum, if I wait 5 minutes or so in-between products and touch normal household items (door knobs, tv remote), should I be washing my hands each time?

Yes you should wash your hands each time... ofc no need to wash them for 2 minutes, like a surgeon, but a quick wash is indicated, yes... or use a wet wipe, or even a cotton pad with some micellar water :))) I sometimes do that, I rub it between my fingers and wipe my hands haha.

Re: Beauty Randoms Thread
I feel like one of the big differences between cheap makeup and slightly pricey makeup (think of a brand like colourpop vs. Charlotte Tilbury) is that the pricier brands put more thought and research into undertones. I don't think luxury brands are usually worth the money, but the mid-range stuff seems to be consistently more flattering. Am i crazy?

Re: Beauty Randoms Thread
Current obsession is using oil on my length and ends before washing my hair. I feel like doing this consistently is already making a big difference in my hair health. I oil my hair anywhere from 1-8 hours before i wash, just depending on what i have going on that day. And then wash normally. Seems like a game-changer for long hair when done consistently. I don't think the type of oil really matters, though I'm using lighter oils since my hair is fine (argan, jojoba, sweet almond, apricot, Ayurvedic blends...)
