Need menstrual sponge help
I found these sponges on etsy that comes with a cute pouch and a menstrual cup:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/2292647...cup?ref=market
or these by Jade and Pearl that come in 3 different sizes? How do you know which size to get? I have really heavy periods too or does it go by like the size you are?
http://gladrags.com/product/240/Jade...ge-2-Pack.html
Which ones would be better?

Re: Need menstrual sponge help
just buy a sea sponge, boil it, and then cut it to the size that you want. There's no reason to buy them from other people or expensively cut to size and packaged in stores.

Re: Need menstrual sponge help
i just bought a few and am kind of scared to use them... I want to use them for dancing and am scared they will fall out on stage.... I'm just generally paranoid during my period.
I read to soak them in vinegar and hydrogen peroxide for a few days?

I was wondering if I could just buy a sea sponge myself and use it but where is the best place to get them?

Re: Need menstrual sponge help
Try the Diva Cup.....You can get it at CVS and Walgreens, it runs about $40 though, I used it for the first time camming and it worked.

Re: Need menstrual sponge help
I have a local Whole Foods store close to my area. They sell two sizes of natural sea sponges. One is closest to tampon size, one more loofah size to cut down. I got both for under ten bucks.

Re: Need menstrual sponge help
Just be careful using Toys with a sponge, I went a little hard, shoving a dildo for a customer and forgot I had a sponge in and it started leaking out!

Re: Need menstrual sponge help
I've been using the jade and pearl brand since I started camming. I've only had to replace them about once every 9 months (which is completely doable if you aren't wearing them non-stop through every period & take care of them). Peroxide is awesome for cleaning them. I recommend getting the ultra soft large ones. They last me like an hour and a half each when my flow is heavy. They look way bigger than they actually are and once they're wet, you can squeeze them into smaller sizes (or cut them).
I wish I knew more about menstrual cups but the only ones I've tried are the soft cup disposable ones and they were TERRIBLE!! Maybe I just have a wonky vag, but I literally couldn't make them stay in place for more than an hour without it moving and releasing the Alamo into my panties, and that was just from sitting! I'm thankful I never tried camming with them.

Re: Need menstrual sponge help
I have to use sponges for camming. The Jade and Pearl ones work great for me. Soft cups hate me and I can never get them positioned correctly so they always leak. I love my Lunette (smaller than the diva cup which was way too big for me) for off cam, but I don't see how those would work for toy shows with how firm they are. However, if I was doing fetish only those days, it would work great.

I'm also on the smaller side, so that maybe it. Yay! now I don't feel so alone!

Re: Need menstrual sponge help
I seriously cannot say enough good about normal menstrual cups. The Diva was usable (as long as I turned it inside out - it worked the same but fit better). I proselytize for my Lunette though. Best Amazon purchase for me ever. Fits around my cervix perfectly, and it only leaked for me the one time I forgot to check the seal. I forgot it once on a trip and my period started early, and I wanted to die having to use tampons. Plus it's purple, and I know it's silly to care about the color of something like that since it'll be in my vag anyway, but I don't care.

Re: Need menstrual sponge help
I love the Jade & Pearl sponges. If you have a heavy flow, get the large ones (not the prolapse sponges but the size below that). I buy the super soft ones. No, they won't fall out. I've never had that problem & I've done hikes & yoga in them. I use the "regular" size. I used to trim them because I'm very small, but then I got used to them & realized I didn't need to trim. The cups are all too big for me & I can't even sit down when I wear them, so the sponges have been great. If I used them on cam, I think I would have to rinse every hour or 90 min, but I don't use them for camming (don't do penetration shows) & I can manage about 3-4 hours between washes.
You can't pee through them though. If you urinate with a tampon in regularly, it's important to note that the sponge will absorb urine & then it will leak.
I just use tea tree oil to wash them when I'm on my period, then at the end of the cycle I use peroxide in water. I used to throw them away every 2-3 months, but I've made them last longer by using pantyliners or pads when I am just at home sitting around. You CAN however wear the sponge even when you have a super light flow. Unlike tampons, you can pull the sponge out virtually dry (because you put it in damp) and not risk micro-tears. I've had only one UTI since using sponges (in 2-3 years), and I used to get them all the time when I wore regular tampons.
Can't say enough good about them. If anyone needs more help, feel free to PM me.

Re: Need menstrual sponge help
The only thing that worries me about the cups is I have very heavy periods and I'm afraid that they will leak if I use the while camming. I bought some soft cups and I was afraid to use them too cause I was afraid they would leak or I wouldn't be able to get them out! Anyone ever have trouble getting the sponges or cups out?

Re: Need menstrual sponge help
I have with the sponges after using a big dildo because it really got shoved up there and I have short fingers, but after squatting and bearing down in the bathroom, it did come out just fine. The only time my sponges leak is because I didn't take the time to rinse it out when it was getting full. I usually clean it out after every show (when it's really really heavy) or every hour or so when it's lighter (while checking it's placement after a show to make sure it's still sitting in the right position and not hiding off to the side of my cervix). My periods can be heavy as hell though and I'd rather be paranoid when possible. I usually use black dildos and red or black towels at that time to minimize any issues if something appears on the toy as well.

Re: Need menstrual sponge help
They hold a lot even the small ones on heavy days.
I get mine from the drug store. You do not need to soak them in hydroxide you need to damp them well rinse them well and air dry them.
I only wear them when I am camming or about to have sex then when I am not I take them out.
You can wear them as they are or cut them. its just a matter of preference.

I've had the prolapse ones in the past and they are the best by far for absorption (and super duper freaking soft). Plus, unlike a tampon, you can put multiple in and it'll help (which I've done before and never had a problem with). If you're heavy, go for the large or prolapse ones. I'd also give it a try for a day or so before going on cam so you have an idea of what your body's bleed through time table is.

Re: Need menstrual sponge help
Try and source your sponges from non-toxic waters; I think I read that on Jade and Pearl website years ago.
If you don a search on this topic there should be heaps of threads, I think I started one ages back. Not sure if you will get much more info than already posted here or not.

Re: Need menstrual sponge help
I've used softcups, diva cups and a whole host of other "stemmed" cups. The softcups felt like I stuck a CD up my hoohah. I simply don't understand the logic of softcups, they are so flat and disc-like, how the hell do they even collect the menses and not leak? The most uncomfortable things ever made in my opinion. I tried several versions of the diva cup and even when I flat out cut the stem right off I could still feel them jabbing into me. Not cool, especially when doing exercise or shifting in my chair. People must have though I had tourettes because I would curse randomly when I got jabbed by the diva cup.
Then I tried sea sponges. I am kind of paranoid, so I didn't go the route of cutting up just any ol' sea sponge even though that's probably all they are...I bought these ones:
http://www.seaspongecompany.com/prod...sponge-tampons
They are wonderful, so soft, and very absorbent...but, and it's a big but, they get stuck inside me especially after penetration shows and it's fucking 2 hours of circus contortion and carpal tunnel to get them out. I've tried tying strings but the strings actually come off or rip right through the sponge and then I end up with 2 sponges stuck inside me. I got pretty tired and sore from all the contortion, I also got weirdly flexible.
Then, like God appeared to Moses on the mountain, the heavens revealed to me the FemmyCycle cup! It is truly a godsend. Look at the design of this marvel:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJ-lL2G-z-o
Can you believe it was designed by a MAN? Anyway, there's no fucking stem and the one for a low cervix can be used during penetration shows plus the thing doesn't leak. It just doesn't because it can't! It has an ingenious built in anti-spill lid like a sippy cup for your vag. The only downside is that because it is rounder than your usual cup, while you are getting used to using it, it might turn on it's side while inside of you and suction itself like a octopus sucker to the side of your vaginal wall. Even so, it's WAAAAYYYYY easier to remove than any sponge!
I can't thank the guy who invented this thing enough. Free flashes for him for life and he deserves the title of, "Vagina Virtuoso".

Re: Need menstrual sponge help
I just pee when wearing sponge and it drops down low enough for me to finger chopstick clamp it out. My vagina may be shorter than yours?
Different things will work for each of us for that reason alone but at least we have options! Thank gawd I wasn't born I the middle ages!

Idk why, but "finger chopstick clamp it out" made me choke on my fizzy water from laughing. That has to be the most accurate description of it i've ever heard tbh.

My vag is narrow and has a high cervix. That's absolutely true so sponges get stuck like a gopher with social anxiety. On the positive side, I can actually shoot ping pong balls pretty far.

Re: Need menstrual sponge help
I ended up ordering a sea sponge from etsy cause I found them cheaper than paying $30 ( for the multi pack w/ diff sizes ) on jade and pearls website but when they came in they were a lot smaller than I expected ;( The ones I got from etsy were 2 1/2 inches long , 2 inches wide and about 3/4 inches thick? The picture that was on the etsy sellers page is deceiving and they look nothing like what she has as a picture! Plus she didn't have the measurements listed, I was just going by the picture but it looked nothing like what I got. For those of you that have ordered these from like jade and pearl or somewhere like that.....how big are they usually suppose to be? These are like oval shape? I was expecting them to be more round I guess?

Re: Need menstrual sponge help
Menstrual sponge can last up to six months when properly cared for and it is alternative to tampons. Considering the estimation of pads, tampons and applicators in her lifetime, I was down to explore alternative options, even if the idea of wearing one terrified me. After getting bored with sponge my doctor suggest me to use diva cup. Diva cup is one of the most popular menstrual cups of all brands. The Diva Cup is way more comfortable than a tampon but it could be trickier to empty during work. There is a bit of a learning curve to using a menstrual cup like in my experience, but I think it's well worth it.

They won't fall out if they are high enough and as long as your not pushing them out from some powerful orgasm
