Twitter somehow outed me on Facebook, even though NOTHING is connected
So yesterday I did a show on Chaturbate - after the show I took some pics and uploaded one to my camgirl twitter, "from today's show!" blah blah blah at about 10pm.
Keep in mind: my camming persona and stuff associated to it has nothing to do AT ALL with my real life persona. Every single thing is separate and I was super careful with it. My twitter is under a different name, different location, different email from the real me, as are all my things related to camming.
Well, at about 5am, which is already weird on itself (WHY THE FUCK WOULD TWITTER POST THE TWEET 7 HOURS AFTER I TWEETED?) Twitter decided to publish the photo of my tits and tweet to my Facebook. WHICH IS IN NO WAY CONNECTED TO MY TWITTER. And even if it were, Twitter has to ASK YOU PERMISSION to put your twitter stuff to Facebook. I never gave any kind of permission, and when I checked EVERYWHERE on Twitter, Facebook didn't have permissions for tweets to be posted there.
I don't understand. I mean they could've posted my tweet to my Facebook account and who knows who else's because there's been other people logging on Facebook in this PC...
I got tons of messages and frantic calls from my relatives to take it down (thankfully I only have like 80 friends and they're mostly family who loves me dearly). I explained I didn't have a twitter, somebody must've used my intimate pics for shitty stuff, they're pics for my boyfriend, I must've gotten hacked because I just got a new phone.
Regarding new phone: I installed Facebook but... I NEVER INSTALLED TWITTER. I don't have a personal twitter, just a camming twitter, and decided it was too risky to carry around my camming tweets with me everywhere.
So I just wanna say... BEWARE TWITTER. It WILL post your stuff all over your other accounts JUST BECAUSE IT FUCKING WANTS TO, HOURS AFTER YOU TWEETED, EVEN IF YOUR ACCOUNTS HAVE NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH EACH OTHER.

Re: Twitter somehow outed me on Facebook, even though NOTHING is connected
Doesn't matter if you never connected it. Facebook is THE biggest and smartest social networking site. Their facial recognition technology is cutting edge and they know your face and the sites you browse online. It's all interconnected in more ways than you realize. They know it's you cause your IP address is the same despite changing usernames and emails.
The only way to be truly safe is to deactivate your vanilla accounts. Quite a few cam girls have posted this same issue happening.
Are you sure you don't have some sort of automated marketing software or other settings that allowed this? If not then perhaps contact Twitter customer support and notify them to see if they have any idea how it happened.
Oh and you mention other people use the same PC?!?!? That might be a problem too. If you ever forget to completely log out after your session, other people can access your data and use it however they want.

Re: Twitter somehow outed me on Facebook, even though NOTHING is connected
I'm really sorry this happened to you. That's horrible, and actually quite frightening.

Re: Twitter somehow outed me on Facebook, even though NOTHING is connected
Holy shit...yea I literally removed my Facebook from public indexing and made it so that only friends of friends are allowed to even send me requests. Tbh though I'm over FB as a concept so I'll probably de-activate it after Christmas this year.
So so sorry this happened to you hun, wow. It may have had something to do with shared hashtags, maybe FB had a hashtag that was tagged same as you and it showed up. Either way, that sucks. Sorry love.

Re: Twitter somehow outed me on Facebook, even though NOTHING is connected
@miss.a.p Yep, I thought I'd contact twitter support to see what the hell happened. For now I've deactivated my twitter account, and facebook too because I'm so angry and quite ashamed. I'd have no problems coming out to my family with this when the time is right, but it's a different thing being forced into it. Thankfully on the tweet I didn't add my CB account so unless they searched for the twitter handle they wouldn't know anything.
The photo had only half of my face in it - it was like... an eye, not even half my nose and my mouth, then tits - so I don't think it was that. As for IP - I'm worried now that it's been posted in other places, both my boyfriend and I share the same IP, and there's been lots of friends with twitter&facebook accounts getting logged on in this PC. All of them have pictures of myself on their accounts.
I checked all my twitter settings and no, I have nothing like that. Same for facebook. I've had the twitter account for two years now and the first time I post a photo, even if it doesn't show face, this happens...
It's crazy, neither place has permissions to post my stuff on it, they have two whole different names and emails, plus the worst part is that twitter posted the tweet like 7 hours later so I didn't know about it until I was woken up by people blowing up my phone saying to take the picture down! If it had been posted immediately I would've seen it because I was on Facebook at the time and taken it down before anybody else saw it.
@pinklemonade Thank you. It's horrible and scary especially as my account have absolutely nothing to do one with the other.
@SimoneGray Thank you. Sadly I can't delete Facebook because it's the only way I can share things with my family and friends. I've also removed my account from public indexing (long ago) and only friends of friends can send requests. It's fucking crazy I don't know how they did it!! I didn't post hashtags except for #chaturbate I think, but the post on my timeline was made BY TWITTER ITSELF so it wasn't like there was somebody who shared it on my Facebook on purpose or accidentaly!

Re: Twitter somehow outed me on Facebook, even though NOTHING is connected
That's awful! I'm really sorry. Facebook is a complete bastard, I have another business account on FB and skype, and so some reason it shared that skype account with my daughter eventhough it's not at all connected and I use different email accounts. I use a different browser for my cam work twitter and I have my personal FB locked down, and I don't use a pic of myself for my profile.
-
Re: Twitter somehow outed me on Facebook, even though NOTHING is connected
Wow your friends and family are really great to contact you to let you know! Mine probably wouldnt even have "liked" it! Be thankful you didnt have it watermarked with your cam persona cause honestly most people will accept that we have some dirty photos of ourselves on our phone so its a totally plausible lie at least.

Re: Twitter somehow outed me on Facebook, even though NOTHING is connected
@Classy_Katy SAME HERE! I use different EVERYTHING to make sure it's not connected at all. I don't know why or how this happened. I used to have a personal twitter account but I deleted it a year or more ago and never gave it permission to post my stuff on Facebook. My Facebook is completely locked down, you can't even search it on Google or anything... Ugh. I'm so mad and I don't know how the hell twitter found my Facebook and posted the picture and tweet there without my permission.
@DeepThoughts Yeah thankfully my friends and family were all blowing up my phone like "take it down! Take it down!". It never got shared or even a single like even though it was posted PUBLIC (my privacy settings are at max and I rarely post things public!!). The photo was attached to my camming persona (twitter has the same name I use in CB and other sites) but unless you searched for the username you wouldn't find anything on me, I think not even searching for it would you find things on me because I don't give out my location, real name etc on sites. There's also other people using similar names (camgirls or not) so I'd be really difficult to find.

Re: Twitter somehow outed me on Facebook, even though NOTHING is connected
When I'm on Twitter I put on the HOLA proxy app. Its a VPN for browsing. I say I'm in Canada so my IP address is different. I rarely ever take it down. I like this app because it will only show me in Canada for Twitter and remembers that setting so I Dont always have to do it. Everywhere else I use my normal IP. Its a free app :). Also it won't work for Skype. You'll need a real VPN line to hide your IP there

Re: Twitter somehow outed me on Facebook, even though NOTHING is connected
Oooh, didn't know about that. I'll try it if I ever reactivate my account or create a new one!! Thanks a lot!!

And at anytime FB will change it to public.
WAKE UP LADIES!
FB major invest was the US gov so they can spy on all of us. That keeping it separate & no one finding out the real you for the 'fake' you won't work. NONE of my real stuff is on the web. Even though all my friends & family know. I save my family & friends for real life & connect with them in person.
How they found out because all that information is on your phone, your ipad, your computer. All the information on all devises is shared & sold to all kinds of companies. We have NO privacy at all. All phone calls, text, location, emails & all information are being recorded and watched.
All my thoughts & dreams are written on pen & paper cause it can't be hacked. All my ideas, creative process for shoots & stuff----written on pen and paper. Want to have a more private life with those you are close to? Then time to start mailing letters, postcards & hallmark cards to them and keep it off the web.

Re: Twitter somehow outed me on Facebook, even though NOTHING is connected
Sadly I can't do any of that - I don't live in the US, here we can't mail letters because our mail system sucks, same for postcards etc. :(
And since now I live 1+ hours away from all family and friends I connect with them through Facebook, there's no other way because many don't have others means of connection. The only thing most everyone has even if they don't have a PC is Facebook. Some people with smartphones have Whatsapp, but it's the same kind of thing, still online.

Re: Twitter somehow outed me on Facebook, even though NOTHING is connected
They also have an VPN app for your phone. But for my phone I used Betternet for android. It worked so well I got locked out of my vanilla company email Bc it showed me in India and the tech admin thought I was hacked. I had to uninstall and Dont do adult work from my phone. I'm all about privacy. These social media sites are like Big Brother!

Re: Twitter somehow outed me on Facebook, even though NOTHING is connected
Instagram is worse. I was outed because it notified my vanilla account friends that I set up a new cam girl Instagram account. Why the fuck would Instagram automatically do that without my consent?
I got rid of all my vanilla social media accounts. I'm pretty much Hyori all time time now on the internet.
-
Re: Twitter somehow outed me on Facebook, even though NOTHING is connected
^^ in terms of this, the drive these days to have things so "connected" really freaks me out. I don't want my twitter linked to my fb linked to my insta linked to my whatever else. People think they are making things "easier" but its really just enabling stalkers etc. Wish these stupid apps would stop wanting to be friends.

Re: Twitter somehow outed me on Facebook, even though NOTHING is connected
+1 for instagram. I opened up an account for my etsy store and personal friends found it even though it was private I didn't invite them. Facebook/Instagram are owned together so expect major crossover. Nowhere is safe

Re: Twitter somehow outed me on Facebook, even though NOTHING is connected
I'm curious... do your Facebook and Twitter have the same email address attached to them?
-
Re: Twitter somehow outed me on Facebook, even though NOTHING is connected
No, they don't. The email adresses I use for my camming and for personal use are completely different, not even on the same platform. My camming and my personal life online don't share a single thing in common, except for IP but that's shared with my boyfriend too. The email adresses have completely different names. I also don't have a twitter for personal use or a facebook for camming.

Ugh.... I was just considering making a camming instagram since I've noticed more and more camgirls are doing it (i wasn't gonna show my face in it... just in case) but this changed my mind.
While I was retired from camming for over a year, I was enjoying branching out with my RL self and making a Twitter and Tumblr account for my fandoms and going to conventions and collectibles and other nerdy stuff. Now that I'm coming out of retirement, sadly, I'll be deleting my personal Twitter and Tumblr. Personal facebook is going to be more difficult but I really hate that place. It's an addiction that I need to wean myself off of and then quit entirely. I do have twitter and instagram accounts that I need for my vanilla businesses though, so that worries me.
Thankfully I haven't had any issues with cross posting or anything, but I use a Proxy for everything and do everything on separate chrome browsers with separate user accounts. Though, it looks like the OP has also been very careful (except I'm not sure if she uses a VPN or a proxy) so this kind of post gives me nightmares.
-
Re: Twitter somehow outed me on Facebook, even though NOTHING is connected
This is frigging scary and one of my major worries is of something like this happening. I'm really sorry OP :(.

Re: Twitter somehow outed me on Facebook, even though NOTHING is connected
There is some REALLY great information in this thread.
I started a thread regarding FB, last week.
I was wondering why FB asked me if I knew a person? Turned out to be one of my roommates at my last place, who I barely knew. I only had her phone number programmed in my phone, in case of an emergency. Yet I use a completely DIFFERENT device (my tablet), to use FB.
How the holy hell?:eek::confused:
I didn't even click on her profile, because I was too paranoid that she would have seen my acct.

Re: Twitter somehow outed me on Facebook, even though NOTHING is connected
Last night I made a twitter account for advertising (with my model name/e-mail), but when I logged on, it was recommending friends/family I have on my actual private facebook account to add (and a lot of local folk I don't know or even have on my fb) even though I used a different e-mail to sign up to twitter as I have for facebook. I figured out it was because I used the same e-mail I use for facebook as a backup e-mail for my camming e-mail account. I don't tell certain folk I cam, not because I'm ashamed, more so because I can't be arsed with the drama/ear bending. So now I've de-activated the twitter account and I'm going to get rid of facebook and create a new camming e-mail without using my FB e-mail as back up and then create another twitter... hassle hassle hassle.

Yes Facebook will do that if your devices have the app dowloaded and or you allow access to your phone/device contacts.
Delete the apps from your devices, unlink contacts, and if you log on Facebook make sure to always log out (from all your devices).
Same for Twitter.

Re: Twitter somehow outed me on Facebook, even though NOTHING is connected
I had something similar happen a couple years back. really sorry it happened to you!
just FYI if you have a phone number hooked to your twitter account for "Security", even if it's completely marked as private, anyone who has you number can look you up on twitter. I have an adult humor account that's rather small someone I went to school with found. When I asked him how he tracked it down, he was like "I still have your number and when I was setting up my account, it showed you as a contact" despite my number being on private. I didn't believe him until my old boss added me about a week later. oops.

Re: Twitter somehow outed me on Facebook, even though NOTHING is connected
And this is why I don't have a facebook.
