can you work as a stripper while on active duty for the navy ?
I'm going to boot camp for the navy in a few days and I need to know can I still dance after being enlisted ?
Anyone still in the military serve and strip ? Is it possible ?
If so, how do you go about hiding you identity? /:O

Re: can you work as a stripper while on active duty for the navy ?
Bad bad bad idea.
You need to get your superior officer's permission.
I would not do it simply because you probably don't want to deal with what will happen as far as your peers if they find out.

Re: can you work as a stripper while on active duty for the navy ?
I don't see how you could pull that off. You'll be on the military schedule and it would be very hard if you live in a city where dancers have to commit to a dance/club schedule.

I heard it's been done before though. Even on my Instagram I see girls with their navy gear then stripper gear.
No one ?

Re: can you work as a stripper while on active duty for the navy ?
You now belong to the US Government. Working as a stripper after beginning your career as a sailor could be considered "conduct unbecoming" and could result in getting fired (dishonorable discharge). You need to really weigh the costs and benefits of taking on a shift or two on your days off as it could effect your entire life if you get slapped with a dishonorable discharge. When it comes to finding jobs later, you'd almost be better off with a prison record.

Re: can you work as a stripper while on active duty for the navy ?
The stakes are FAR too high here. Do a quick cost-benefit analysis, and your answer becomes clear. Being in the military is something that will appear on your resume and in your interviews, in a very positive way, for the rest of your life. If you're dishonorably discharged, the ramifications of that are far-reaching and potentially devastating.
(just realized I typed out almost exactly what TdF said before I read her post...ha!)
Also remember that the military has a fairly high incidence of sexual assault. If something were to happen to you (I know this is a horrible thing to point out), then your record as a sex worker would likely be discovered and used against you. Not to mention, if a co-worker found out, you could be targeted for sexual violence simply because of your little side job. Eeek! :/

Re: can you work as a stripper while on active duty for the navy ?
You also have to remember that strip clubs are very popular places for military guys, especially Navy. Submariners have paid my rent more times than I can count!

Re: can you work as a stripper while on active duty for the navy ?
I'm former military and I cannot stress enough how bad of an idea that is. Keep your military life and life completely separate. As in, don't strip while in the military. Decide which one you want to do more and go with that. Otherwise, you're asking for a world of pain. It's also highly probable that you will get caught and if you do, you will suffer greatly.

Re: can you work as a stripper while on active duty for the navy ?
Aren't there ways to avoid getting caught ? Like stripping VERY FAR AWAY from base ?
Wearing wigs ? Concealing identity? Nada ? C'mon ? Lol I'm so frustrated with this. I'm so use to breaking the rules .. And having things MY way ..

Re: can you work as a stripper while on active duty for the navy ?
^^ HA!! I admire the hustle. I have a VERY, VERY vanilla career and I dance. But, women in my profession have also posed publically for Playboy. They faced a bit of backlash and embarrassment, but it doesn't seem like you can exactly lose your career over it. It's a fine line. Stripping is likely to fall under some vague military rule about personal misconduct, and may be enough to get you kicked out. I could make a killing as a published escort (as opposed to freelancing) but would never make that choice because of the exposure and possible legal ramifications. Getting kicked out will follow you just like a criminal record as previously stated. For me: possible embarrassment=okay. Possible criminal record=not okay. Find YOUR line and make a choice.

Oooooh girl. You and the military are gonna clash so hard. Are you sure it's the right path for you?

Re: can you work as a stripper while on active duty for the navy ?
Here's an important question: Active duty or reserve unit? If you're reserve, you might have a chance if you do it far away and schedule around your drill schedule. If you're going in as active duty, you can't and shouldn't try. The dishonorable discharge danger is the biggest reason why not, but here are some other reasons to ponder:
While I was in, there was a girl in my battalion who decided to do some porn. She wasn't discharged over it, although she could have been under the rules and as has been pointed out it would have ruined her life. As it was, everyone in the battalion saw it; that porn clip was on everyone's computer. I wouldn't have traded places with her for the world.
While I was in, I also visited every strip club in about a 100 mile radius as a customer with my buddies. You will be caught. 100%. Someone in your unit will have excellent facial recognition skills and recognize you no matter what. And they will tell everyone you know or will know in the military. The military is high-school-level gossipy.
Imagine being surrounded by 18-24 year old men with raging hormones and extremely misogynistic outlooks on life who all know you do sex work. Some of them are in charge of you. All of them are prone to viewing you as a useless, be-titted object anyway. There was a betting pool in my company over who I'd fuck first when I arrived at my unit. It took me years of being serious and hard-working to be seen as a person at all. If you decide to strip, you will have no goddamn chance of that. No. Chance. Sorry.
Additionally, not fair but accurate anyway: you getting caught stripping will negatively impact every other woman stationed with you. They will all be seen as less serious and more as sex objects. Is this fair? It is not. Misogynistic? Hells yes. But it is accurate and the other women WILL take out their anger at the situation on you.
Additionally, my military life involved PT at 5:30 AM and 60-70 hours of being either on call or on duty. You won't have the energy to strip, and randomly assigned duties and last-minute formations will make adhering to a stripper schedule impossible even if you don't require sleep for some reason.
It's not a matter of being rebellious, it's a matter of this being a colossally stupid idea. As Charlie mentioned, it sounds like you don't really want to join the Navy anyway--they have a lot of rules, and a long history of beating down people who are accustomed to things "their way".

Re: can you work as a stripper while on active duty for the navy ?
I work with a woman who just finished her tour in the Navy. She dances now, but said that while on active duty it would have resulted in a dishonorable discharge. She's still careful because she works on military contracts at her company and if she was found out she could get fired. So as the other ladies have said: DO NOT DO BOTH!! If you want a military career it's just too easy to be caught and not worth the consequences.
That being said, I wish you luck at boot, and admire your decision to serve our country. Strip clubs arn't going anywhere and you'll be in damn good shape when you get out ;)

Sorry honey, you can't have your cake and eat it in this situation. I'm surprised you didn't figure that out when you signed up for the navy. The military owns your ass as soon as you step on that ship until you get discharged. The military IS rules and strict expectations. Why on earth would you sign up for that if you're used to doing everything your way?
Everything Miss Red says is pretty much the truth of the matter. You are FUCKED if you get a dishonorable discharge. Employers do not take that lightly. It's up there with felonies for magnitude of impacting your life later.
I'd be willing to bet that if you get caught and dishonorably discharged, you'll look back and say "I wish I could trade that extra pocket money I made to get my sailor job back".

Who said I signed up ??? I said I was think about taking the asvab test to get in ...
I having second thoughts on this. I mean it's seems easier as reserved. I spoke to a girl that dances and she served in the navy. And she says that it's okay as long as you don't associate your real name with your dancer name. So it HAS been done before. Just not active duty. But thank you though. I appreciate your 2cents.

Re: can you work as a stripper while on active duty for the navy ?
You seem hell bent on doing this so Try it for yourself then report back after a year or so and let us know what happens.

Re: can you work as a stripper while on active duty for the navy ?
oh god no no no. Don't. :(
If you really want extra cash, get a sugar daddy or something more discreet that way.
Speaking of soldiers at clubs... why is it ok for soldiers to go to clubs if it's not ok for soldiers to be strippers? Speaking of "morals" it takes two to tango... double standards smh.

Seems like this thread has run its course. Let's take it easy until the OP asks further questions.

You may wish to reconsider a military career. The whole job is about doing what you are told. You are not permitted to question orders. If you want to serve humanity, you may wish to apply to an organization like Green Peace. You may find it more in alignment with your personality.

Re: can you work as a stripper while on active duty for the navy ?
^Yes! Or Peace Corps. Participating in organizations like these would also be a huge asset for getting jobs.

Re: can you work as a stripper while on active duty for the navy ?
Thank you everyone for your answers ! Theyve helped me come to a final decision: I'm just not going for it anymore. I love my lifestyle too much to give it up.
I've decided to go the Nursing School route and STILL makes some extra cash on the side of course.
And I'm totally comfortable and relieved about this decision -
You guys were right .. It's just NOT worth the hassle or sneaking and having to follow certain rules. Yeah, just not me.
Once again - thanks ladies ! You guys were awesome ;D  :-*
