Re: How to burn out from caming...a guide
We can all agree that putting "extra" money into savings / long term savings plans is a great idea.
There is nothing wrong with camming at any adult age: There are many top models that are 50 - 60. Some are retired from vanilla jobs and some are career camgirls or porn stars, some have only recently discovered camming - who are we to judge? It's great to have a wide variety of shapes / sizes/ ages / places of origin - men like variety, and just my personal opinion.. women who are older have been thru enough in their life to be shamed into limiting their choices even more. I am for empowerment of all women to have their own business, including camming :)

Re: How to burn out from caming...a guide
I think this is a very important thread. We all need to take some time out for ourselves. I love the hustle and challenge/goal threads but you have to keep things in balance or you will burn out horribly. It happened to me. And I am focusing on a better work/real life balance, money is great and yes we need it but make sure to take care of yourself as well. Mentally, emotionally, physically.

Re: How to burn out from caming...a guide
I don't think that anyone was really "shaming" older cam models, I think it was more of a general mentality of "getting out the other end of the business" with something to show for it. There are plenty of cam girls who just spend every dime they make and don't set aside for retirement. Hey, I'm 41, I totally get that, I need to save a lot fucking faster. Sure, I can continue to work into my 50+ years, but just like any other industry, I need to set that shit aside.
-
Re: How to burn out from caming...a guide
I think it comes from people.. I remember when I was 30 doing cam and everyone including cam guys said what are you going to do when you get older? no one's gonna want to pay you for shows!.. Well I am 43 now and ahem.. they are still paying for shows!

Re: How to burn out from caming...a guide
I have major anxiety of losing my placement by taking a day off or getting my period. If I'm in free chat for over 10 minutes I'm worried about what models around me are doing and that my % are tanking.
-
Re: How to burn out from caming...a guide
Chill! Lol, a few bad days does not a page dropper make. I can be gone for 2/3 weeks and my placement is relatively unchanged. And I'm in free chat up to 45 minutes at a time sometimes, that shit just happens.

Yea...worrying about other models or your placement will burn you out real quick. I used to do that and in the end I had no motivation to cam even though my numbers were actually pretty good. Look at the cash made, not the placement all the time.

Kat I'm such a fan of yours btw. Your response made me smile. I'm always unsure how to handle sitting in freechat but it becomes more understandable when you can just face that...that shit just happens sometimes.

Same. I have to stop focusing on others and pay attention to ME!
I am also always thinking, "How many people are watching me right now who are NOT logged in?"

Re: How to burn out from caming...a guide
Look at Facebook and feel like an absolute failure because people around you seem to be going somewhere and you're stuck. Up your hours to INSANE levels so you can make 'more money than everyone'. Cue: burnout.

Happens to the best of us. I put my cam on my cleavage and rock to backstreet boys obsessively loud when it's really dead, otherwise I get the crazies and think that everyone suddenly started to hate me and I'm the ugliest girl in the world.
We all go through it at some point, last week was just shitty period.

Re: How to burn out from caming...a guide
I just try to have fun and wait it out. I work 6 hours a night and if I'm at 50% paid that means I'm spending 3 hours a night in free chat. I just try to make free chat my bitch. Some nights its harder than others but generally I enjoy it if I have a good group of guys.

Re: How to burn out from caming...a guide
I feel the same way!.. all my friends from school are doing better than me..lol

Re: How to burn out from caming...a guide
Be a cam model going on 13 years and freak out what the hell are you doing with your life and wonder what did you really accomplish.
Get hit by reality there is more then being a cam girl and only making money from camming,
Attend internet marketing events and open your eyes to new world possibilities and regain passion and drive as to why you are working from home and stay on the path to your new life as an internet marketer.
it might not be 100% fit into this thread but it's definitely a snapshot of what I've dealt with in the last 5/6 years.

Re: How to burn out from caming...a guide
Burn out from camming goes like this for me: get up late, really late, procrastinate 6 hours, eat sweets, looking through window, thinking about philosophy of existence, all that time feeling guilty because I'm not working and all that time finding reasons why not (I'm ugly, I'm high, I have more time today...), and when the end of the day comes I still haven't done a little thing on cam and instead I decide to get high again and fall asleep. It's like a circle -.- After these days I feel so worthless and like some of you ladies said other people I know come up in my mind who are having expensive cars, new flats, even babies :( and I'm still getting high on my couch watching TV shows not earning big cash or doing really anything out of my life -.-.-.-.-.-

Re: How to burn out from caming...a guide
I feel the burnout, no matter what. This thing aint fun for me somehow a while ago.
Doing this 5-6 years now, whatever.
Maybe, coz nothing new happening.
I m patient, handle things with humour and so on...
Only thing is fun for me, the comfyness i dont need to leave the house.
But the red factors what makes me super annoyed and burnout:
Look at all the stupid and dumb people who appears.
expecting too much of the whole thing. set up too high goals, expecting that most people will show up some intelligence/ respect (okay, sometimes that s happening, but it s not basic, on lj).
Hmm... that s all for now. :*

Re: How to burn out from caming...a guide
another thing, if i let myself to be too emotional.
I mean, it s slow, sitting in a room, wich is quiet, so i start to feel lonely, or ugly, or whatever. Or feel that i m fucked up - if there are only assholes, i take that as a personal fail... and feel bad coz "i m not good enough" lol
That s very draining.
I always need to remind myself, that nothing happening, i just sitting in my room, listening to good music, and just chill. Way more better.

Stressing over the fact that I can't portray my real personality the way I want to on cam and therefore have a harder time attracting customers who are into the whole "hangout" type room, and instead I end up playing some ditzy blonde and then thinking to myself "what the fuck is wrong with you?"
Spending 2+ hours getting ready, stressing over makeup, having anxiety over which lipstick color I choose to wear because I simply make more money when I wear certain colors, and I worry that if I even attempt to change anything, I will be destined to have a shit night.
Changing my lighting constantly, moving my room around, buying unneccessary items for camming in hopes that it will somehow help me generate more income, when that is nearly impossible when I am not even "online" to make money
Spending my entire day cleaning, mixing baby formula, and doing laundry feeling like a domestic robot, and then logging on cam, usually spending the first hour of my shift being asked by my customers to "gag and make my eyes water" usually resulting in a sore throat the next day. Then feeling serious envy of all the cam girls that have children that are just so much more organized and capable than I feel I am.
Having my husband watch my cam and take screenshots of me, so that I can carefully examine my hair, makeup, and outfit.
Often times basing my entire self-worth on whether or not I have had a great week camming. Letting a less than awesome week send me into a downhill spiral of self hatred.
Are you me??

Turn camming into an entire lifestyle instead of just considering it a job like any other.
If you are not on cam then you better make sure that you are either spending every free minute of the day surfing the internet to learn how to make more money on cam or that you are working on your social media marketing.
Live, sleep and breathe camming. It should be the first thing you think about when you wake up and the last thing you think about when you go to sleep. If you are not having dreams where you are working on your webcam then you are doing it wrong.
Do not accept making any less then at LEAST 2k a week. If you make less then 2k a week it is because you are not trying hard enough and you suck at being a camgirl. Do not believe other camgirls who are just making excuses when they tell you that it could be that camming income waxes and wanes depending on different factors that may be happening. They are just weak and just not as committed to hustling and making money as you are.
Who needs outside interests, taking breaks or relaxation? They are just going to cost you money and slow you down anyway. Sleep is for the weak, rest is for the weak. Emotions, feelings and attachments are for the weak. If you are not a coin-operated money-making hustling machine the only reason this could be is because you are just lazy. The only flaw is you. It can't be the fact that you are working a commission job and therefore are subjected to randomness in your income. IT IS ONLY BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT TRYING HARD ENOUGH. WORK HARDER! WORK LONGER! WORK FASTER! WORK SMARTER! KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE PRIZE AND YOUR NOSE TO THE GRINDSTONE....RAH! RAH! RAH!
If you just follow my simple guidelines above I promise you that not only will you burnout in a mere 30 days you will also burnout in such an amazingly spectacular form that it will take you at least 6 months before you can even start to recover from the damage you've done to your mind, body and soul. Money-back guarantee. Void where prohibited.
YESSS THIS FOOL PROOF! I HAD MINE LAST YEAR! June-January haha straight burned out and my thought was
THIS is what JAC had done. I feel her pain, kill me noooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww haha girl gawd

Re: How to burn out from caming...a guide
Try to juggle 3 or more camsites at once - burnout within a week if you're not used to camming. I speak from experience. The 6 months mentioned above is true!
-
Re: How to burn out from caming...a guide
Spend every spare second of your downtime stressing about the future...end up being too mentally worn out to deal with cam/free chat. Also, try work when you are super sick. 'Nuff said.
