Placement on SM when logged off?
Hello Ladies,
This interests me for some reason and I was hoping you could share your knowledge.
After you log off on SM, how is placement within your category decided? I'm usually one of the top girls in my category but lately when I log off after a long insanely good shift, I'll literally be BEHIND another model who hasn't broadcasted in a while! Is this a glitch in the SM matrix, just a random placement, or something else?
my geoblock is OFF btw.
Re: Placement on SM when logged off?
It's not a glitch, you don't keep your top spot all the time they rotate it . Plus you have logged off why would they keep your placement is your not online.
Re: Placement on SM when logged off?
I honestly don't pay much attention to offline placement. What matters is where I am when I'm ON.
If you're behind a model who hasn't broadcast in a while my guess would be her hourly is very high.
Re: Placement on SM when logged off?
Your offline placement on SM is basically your "true" placement in the sense that, if all the models logged in at the same time, you would see them in that order. Knowing your offline placement can occasionally be handy because it's the best way to know if your placement is truly going up compared to the other models around you. It can also be nice to know which ladies have similar placement offline, so that if you see one of them online, you know approximately where you will be on the page, too.
However, I don't think you should stress about it too much because your online placement varies due to a lot of factors, including how many "top models" are online at the time and who is viewing you - you have higher placement for customers that are from your country, have favorited you, or who visit your room often. You also shouldn't stress too much about your placement right after you log off. It can take up to 24 hours for the system to acknowledge that you had an awesome shift, and it sometimes takes another day for the algorithm to shuffle you into your new placement. Sometimes it's a lot faster, but it can also be slow as fuck.
As to why the other model ranks above you... I don't think there's any way we can answer that. We've tried very hard to figure out exactly what factors create your placement, but the algorithm is clearly complex and probably gets tweaked all the time. Beyond what factors get counted and how they are weighed, we also haven't been able to figure out how long someone's placement boost lasts - it seems like some ladies get a boost and then drop right away when they have a slow day, while other ladies can go offline for weeks and keep their high placement. My guess is that they have the equation weighted to very heavily reward consistency in terms of earnings, that way no one gets a huge boost just for a single great night, and models that have spent years banking every time they log on have a bit more leeway to take "vacation time."

Thank you! You definitely created the best post to answer my question. I will not stress over the many changing factors of the cam world. Sometimes you work when it's crazy busy, sometimes it's dead ass slow. But, you still have to get ready and go for it. Thank you once again and I will try harder not to be plagued by the evils of algorithms.
