Re: Dollar dancing....wtf?!
Fuuuuucccccckkkkkk that, not all clubs in Texas are like that, I'd actually say most aren't. What city are you in? Move on.
Re: Dollar dancing....wtf?!
How long have you worked there? Is the management cool, do you feel comfortable asking questions or making suggestions? Maybe they are just clueless new manager / owners. Maybe it's just a sucky club.
If you can find another club then do that. Or just ignore the cheap dancers and be confident you'll land on a whale while sticking to your prices. If the club is more hassle and waste of time then ditch it.
Re: Dollar dancing....wtf?!
I'm in houston. I've only been at this club for two days. The first day I asked the owner how the dances were set up he told me they go for whatever you want to sell them for. He said start at 20, so I figure shoot a one way 20 and a two way 35. I tried both options and customers were looking at me like I was crazy. One took me to the side and was like girl no body in here is going to pay 20 much less 35 for a song he's like there's no need to. After looking around he was right the girls just walk up to folks dance get tips and on to the next person. I can't get my mind wrapped around it though. They don't tip much on stage so how are you supposed to make money ? Some of these customers after paying cover charge don't even want to buy themselves drinks. The owner got on the mic and was like if you aren't tipping, buying dances or drinking get the fuck out. I'm honestly wondering wtf are they there for. It's so dark and hazey in the club it's hard to really read your customers because you can't really see anyone but so much, it's just dark. Of course you can see the young wanna be d boys but besides that not much. Customers just smack ur butt, cop a feel and no one is there to do anything lol.
I'm kind of considering other options. I'm having a hard time though finding a club. I usually work at black clubs because I'm thicker than the usual black girls white clubs hire. BUT my style and the way that I carry myself lend me to be more of a white or mixed club dancer. A lot of these urban clubs in Houston are really hood. I would have tried onyx but I do need to tone up before I would seriously consider trying there.

I agree with you. Dollar dances are pathetic. I worked in some clubs where they advertised this, and guys would say they'd want a dance. But then they'd say they want a dollar dance. I tell them I don't do those or I just don't work in that kind of club at all if it sucks that bad. I worked at some hillbilly club where the guys all expected this. I stopped working there.
Re: Dollar dancing....wtf?!
The club I work at offers "dollar dances." Basically I'll just do a little boob bounce followed by a booty wiggle, like 10 seconds max. Most customers tip more than a dollar. We use this as an easy upsell to the $20 lap dance or champagne room.
At your club it sounds like the girls have trained the customers to be cheap. No one should be in laps for $2. Doesn't sound like there's much you can do except move on to a club that has girls who know that their time is worth more than a couple bucks.
Re: Dollar dancing....wtf?!
^Yeah depends on how the other girls are too, that's a big factor. I once did a dollar dance for some guy and unfortunately he thought I would be there for a long time. Learned my lesson and never them again, and then I'll see girls doing these dollar dances out on the floor doing all these elaborate moves like hand stands and shaking their butts in the guy's face for a dollar or two. I'm way too lazy for any of that stuff for a couple of bucks.
Re: Dollar dancing....wtf?!
I guess most every club I work at is a dollar dance place.
We go from customer to customer immediately dancing on them if we're smart (if we're new or stupid, we walk around trying to start conversations with them), they instantly pull out money. You can tell when they're cheap because they'll give one dollar and put their money away or they'll give one dollar and be very touchy. You take their dollar and leave and that interaction probably took 20 seconds. You don't give him a dance and then wait to get tipped. The tipping starts once you approach him and start dancing. For every cheap ass, there are probably 3 guys that will offer you a drink, tell you to sit, and either ask for a real $20 lap dance or he'll give you enough singles to make it worth your time. That's how every dollar dance club I've worked at has been and some are free for alls where the guy doesn't offer you a drink but will just quickly tip you and send you on your way to go dance on the next guy. Either way, it's fast paced and relatively easy money because the dancers and customers are on the same page.
If every guy in the club is tipping a couple bucks, the club sucks ass and its time to move to greener pastures.
Re: Dollar dancing....wtf?!
Depending on how busy a club is, you can make a lot on dollar dances. Fuck that noise, I hate counting ones.
We have dollar dances in my club. I don't do them. Some girls have gotten wise and turned them into $5 dances. I don't do those either. When people ask for one I tell them I only do real dances, if they want a dollar dance they need to go to my stage IF I go on stage. I get called a cunt and stuck up bitch a lot...
Re: Dollar dancing....wtf?!
It is fast pace.... But hell that seems like a lot of damn work. Dancing from person to person shit... I guess we really are lazy dancers (Hawaii dancers) that was a joke that the girls from the mainland used to say.
So you guys are saying just walk up to these guys and start dancing. It just seems so impersonal. Do you even get regulars by doing this? I'm used to establishing repor and being able to make 100s if not 1000s of off one guy. With him coming just to see me.
Re: Dollar dancing....wtf?!
Don't just start dancing. Some dudes will assume you did it "out of the goodness of your heart" and not pay. After talking for a min (or just walk up) ask if they would like a dollar dance. 10-20 sec max. Don't do it for very long unless they start loading your outfit with cash. If 150 customers come in and all get a dollar dance at only a dollar, that's $150 and you barely did anything. You also have a chance to judge how much $$ they are carrying. A dollar dance can lead to the real deal too. Just be warned, after a full night of doing this your legs will hurt.
Re: Dollar dancing....wtf?!
I worked at a club in Sioux Falls, SD that had a dollar dance hustle. The dollar dances were a way to get the guys into VIP. I made pretty good money there, but that was a long time ago. This club sounds like a throwback to a former strip club era.
If you have to work at this club, you'll need to get into your customer's heads. Have a HUGE wad of cash strapped to your leg before you hit the floor. That way the customers will think you are the "it" girl of the night. For whatever reason, guys seem to spend more on the girl they perceive as the most popular even if they aren't all that into her. I think Americans in general are like that. Like, everyone just HAS to go see the new Star Wars movie, even if they aren't really into it.

Ohh I was just gonna reply to this thread and mention Scarlett O' harra's in Sioux Falls. They don't require dollar dances, but it still did happen a lot for girls to get the guys to the VIP, and it worked well. This was just this past summer when I was there and did this hustle. I remember one night me and this other girl went around and did the "dollar" dances together, most of the time it paid off to be much more than a dollar or the guys atleast bought a lap dance from it.

I work in urban clubs and yeah, we just walk up to the guy and start dancing. It is impersonal. Yes you get regulars because guys remember you and you'll still talk to some of them. At a good urban club, it's pretty common for a guy to give you a couple hundred singles for what would be considered a dollar dance. That's why I wrote that if every guy in the club is tipping a couple dollars, the club sucks ass.
If it's slow, then we sit and talk with the customers but if it's crowded, we're just dancing on everybody and stuffing our purses as we go. It is hard work, all the girls will be a sweaty mess at the end of the night but generally the sweatier you are, the more money you made.

[QUOTE=LexyNYC;2836642]I work in urban clubs and yeah, we just walk up to the guy and start dancing.
Lexy, what issues have you ran into using this method?? Like, what if the guy is completely uninterested?? Do customers act offended that you are in their face like that? Do you make actual contact with their lap area while you're dancing or is that giving away too much for free? I used to have approach anxiety when I first started dancing and this seems like it would trigger that x100.
I was visiting a urban club with a male friend last week, and the girl literally walked straight up to us before we even had a drink and just started shaking her ass. No introduction, not even a hello and a smile.
Do you find that this hustle is easier or harder than the traditional "walk up and make a conversation" hustle?
Re: Dollar dancing....wtf?!
Find a new club. Ive worked in 3 clubs in the south houston area, and i have never done a dollar dance or any dance for less then 20.
Re: Dollar dancing....wtf?!
I have never worked in a dollar dance club but I have patronized them and I thought they were weird. I still work in the old gogo bar format. Big stage with a bar around it. We do 2 songs on stage then walk around entire bar inside and get dollars handed to us. Then we put our top back on and go outside the bar to solicit dances or get free drinks. I just don't get WHY you would sit on a guys lap or put your naked tits in his face for A DOLLAR??!! I could never work there.
