Best face cream to protect against smoke/pollutants in the club?
Hey guys, as we all know the strip club is full of smoke and that can't be good for your face.
After washing off all that makeup at the end of the night, my skin just looks horrific. Partly due to the makeup but also the smoke and sweat, etc.
Does anyone know of a face cream that you can put on UNDER your makeup that will at least SOMEWHAT reduce harmful effects from the smoke? I know there's no 100% protection from smoke, but I'm just wondering if anyone has found something that has at least SOMEWHAT helped?
I read that exposure to smoke also causes wrinkles, which I don't want either, especially at 21.
Thanks so much <3

I would say coconut oil, but if you are in a club setting you may rub off greasy wearing it. Activated Charcoal bars (You can find decent, organic labeled products through reputable venders or herb forums, sometimes Ebay.) Face cream personally..can be worse for your skin but, this is just my opinion given there are certain ingredients like perfume/irritants, ect in Revlon night masks/creams. (Just don't trust them..) Makeup is also another factor too..which can cause clogging of the pores around the nose, chin and forehead inducing future wrinkles. You can do a lemon, raw sugar and honey scrub down and follow up with some type of oil (natural best) Chewing on Rosemary, slimy elm bark and root powders can give you a healthy glow as well! Also, try not to use anything harsh on your skin like hot water, scrubbers, harsh clothes that can damage cells. So long as you keep your skin very moisturized and drink decent amounts of water, the smoke will have a much lower impact.
I know this may seem retarded given its an older woman, but she is onto something with regular facial workouts and she has actual proof from age 40 to 60 hardly aging.. https://www.youtube.com/user/RENEWMETVCHANNEL

Could you use a nice face wipe in between, & then just reapply your foundation? I love the ones by Pacifica, they've so many great varieties, deep cleansing, makeup removing, etc.
Yes, you can up your supplements too.

I guess I'm imagining that a primer and a good foundation would be more effective protection than a cream (you're looking to block and cover your pores temporarily). Followed by deep makeup removal and skincare once you get home. To remove my makeup, I slather my face in avocado oil and wipe it off with cotton balls or a hot, wet washcloth. Then I spend a solid minute rubbing Philosophy's Purity Made Simple into my face, then washing that off. Then I get in the shower and shower normally, sometimes doing a second round of oil cleansing and facial massage. When I get out, I moisturize with oils and a night cream.

I agree with charlie. Primer and foundation, because they're a thick, physical barrier.

Thanks so much guys! I only wear concealer and powder to work with no primer underneath as of now, but I guess I'll start wearing primer underneath. The UV lights are harmful as well, I'm sure, so I'll get some kind of UV protectant.

Even if you have incredible skin, I'd recommend wearing foundation. It gives makeup a much more polished look, especially if you do a dramatic eye or lip (hell, even if you wear very little eye or lip makeup, it'll take your look to the next level).
Stripper necessities that I resisted for my first four years of dancing and now can't believe I used to go without: foundation and fake eyelashes. And this is coming from a girl who wears very little makeup IRL.
The only time foundation is a bad thing ITC is when you're wearing a shade that clearly doesn't match your skin tone.

Definitely make sure you're using a broad-spectrum face & body sunscreen :) 80% of visible aging is caused by sun damage.

Your face must be smooth as a baby's ass!! Lol. Where do you get the avocado oil? That sounds amazing. I bet it is good for the hair too.

You can get avacado oil, which has natural vit. E, @ a health food store, vitaminshoppe is where I got mine.
There's also some newer oils out, Marula (sp) & some others

Ha! I just bought mine from Costco, honestly. I don't moisturize with it - I just cleanse with it - so the quality is less important for me.
I moisturize with a mix (you can buy amber dropper bottles to make your own mixes) of jojoba, rosehip, pomegranate, and vitamin e. I'm pleased with my skin these days! A gentle care routine plus limited sugar / great diet and hot yoga have all changed my relationship with my face! :D

Omg, the uv lights causing skin damage never even occurred to me! And I'm sooo careful with sunscreen outside, but I thought in the club it was ok..grr great now I'm going to be paranoid it's caused damage already, good thing you brought that up! And wow they allow smoking inside?? I thought that was banned years ago

UV lights? Are you talking about black lights? Club black lights are far too weak to cause damage:

Re: Best face cream to protect against smoke/pollutants in the club?
I got super paranoid about UV lights too, but I agree that they're not strong enough to cause damage. I would definitely be more worried about the smoke, and it's part of the reason why I don't like working outside of city limits (indoor smoking isn't banned out there).
My intuition was to suggest a cream with antioxidants as your moisturizer under your makeup, but most effective antioxidant products will break down rapidly when exposed to light, even weak light. I think that limiting exposure is your best option, unfortunately. So if there are clubs nearby that don't allow indoor smoking, I would check them out. Otherwise, working fewer hours will help. I would also suggest limiting your inflammation otherwise by not drinking while at work, and perhaps by taking something like fish oil supplements. Matcha green tea has a lot of antioxidants, and it can help give you an energy boost before work.
Like Charlie, I definitely use oils to help keep my skin moisturized. Lots of delicate care and moisture will help your skin repair after being exposed to smoke. Another poster's mention of lemon is not a good idea though, IMO. Lemons are very acidic and can actually damage your skin barrier, which will have the exact opposite result you want. I really like CeraVe's face wash products to help keep my skin barrier healthy.
Re: Best face cream to protect against smoke/pollutants in the club?
I agree with the girls that say to use a foundation + primer. Make sure the foundation is full coverage.
When you get home, remove your makeup, wash your face, and don't forget to use a toner!!
Re: Best face cream to protect against smoke/pollutants in the club?
I actually use a moisturizer/primer with spf in it. a lot of foundations have it also
Re: Best face cream to protect against smoke/pollutants in the club?
Try Yes To Carrots/Tomatoes/Blueberries. (There are several different products.) Vitamin C serums are good too.)

This is the TRUTH. http://www.sephora.com/photo-finish-...?skuId=1349968
Apply a thin layer with a brush not your fingers. It will sit on your skin and even the oil on your skin and smooth the makeup. You get less exposure to the pore clogging effect of makeup.
