starting in portland
Ive never stripped before but i am moving to portland in a couple of months and after some research have decided to become a stripper! I wanted to sooner but my dad goes to strip clubs so the thought of running in to him in my home town is mortifying
Where are some good starting clubs in portland?
What am i looking at taking home?
I read that most of the clubs are nude, are there any topless only bars I could start at?
Would i bring home less in a topless only club?
thank you :)

Re: starting in portland
Hi! Portland born and raised here. There are so many clubs in town that the choices could be overwhelming. Hopefully I can offer some insight as to where you should start.
Due to Portland having so many clubs and a ton of girls, take home pay is rather low. I would say that $150-200 a shift would be about average. I don't think it matters if the club is topless or nude, but to be honest, I've never worked at a topless club in Portland, so I'm just guessing.
Based on your screen name, I'm guessing you're under 21, right? This is going to be a problem as the juice bars have pretty much all closed down and although the state does allow clubs to hire under 21 girls at alcohol bars, the girls are not allowed to hustle the floor for dances per state law. Performers must either be on stage, in the VIP room or in the dressing room and are not allowed to mingle with the customers between performances.
Something else you may wish to consider is that it is really, really hard to find affordable apartments. And by affordable, I mean $1500/mo. Usually there are a dozen or so applicants for every apartment that is under $1500. Everybody and their dog is moving to Portland these days and the builders can't build apartment buildings fast enough to accommodate all the new people moving into the area. In 2014 we had 30,000 more people living here than we did in 2013. I'm sure 2015 is going to be close to that number, too.
Traffic is really bad here, as well. This is a small city with transportation infrastructure for around 500,000 people. As of 2015, we are closer to 2.35 million people. The buses and standing room only, the roads are gridlocked from 7 am-10am and again from 2pm-7:30pm on most week days. More than once a bus just drove past my stop because there was literally no more room to pick me up unless someone got off first. This sucks even more if it also happens to be raining (it's usually raining).
I'm going to end this post with:
If you are going to move to Portland specifically to be a stripper, maybe you need to try it out first to see if it is even something you will like doing. Portland is not the carefree place it once was. You have to have a good income to make it work in Portland now.
If you are moving here for other reasons (husband's job, school, family), then stripping is a fun way to earn a living in Portland.

Re: starting in portland
thank you so much for the relpy, the 150-200$ a night is a bit disheartening as is the under 21 rule since i'm only 19(20 in about a month) I really want to start stipping to explore my sexuality as well as make money. Ive applied at places in Portland like coffee shops and such where they straight up say you will not make enough $$ here to live in portland. I'm completely in love with it though. My cousin lives out there and ive been about 10 times in the past 6 months.

Re: starting in portland
Try club Rouge! I worked there for a while. It's a great club and my first day, a dayshift, I made 500+ in 3-4 hours. No extras (ugh! Haha) (EDIT: I made this much only once, and also because a business man came in and loved me. Don't expect this all the time!!!)
Portland was a great start but if you want to dance in portland you gotta hustle hard to make the money desired. Rouge is 18 and up, and you're allowed to do quite a lot surprisingly. Spyce is another great club, plus it's topless only. There's a LOT of girls at Spyce right now though - custies do make it rain good on the weekends.
In general, I agree with Tourdefranzia. If you're moving to Portland specifically to dance, save yourself a little trouble and go to Vegas or Atlanta. Trust me girl you won't regret it. Portland you'll make good money, when it's during busy season. Vegas is always busy, and you'll be making a living!!!

Re: starting in portland
I just went to Portland last week and made $700 on a Tuesday and that was my lowest night for earnings. I do not do extras. There is money to be made there and it has been my experience that it's consistent in the top clubs.
HOWEVER.
For a person under 21, it is VERY hard to make money in Portland because, as someone else mentioned, you are not allowed on the floor, you can only go on stage. I know of one girl who is a super hustler who made money under 21 and the other girls who could do the same were absolute knock outs who looked like they could be Guess models.
I not sure if the person posting above me has ever worked in Atlanta or Vegas, or maybe just does not understand that you're under 21. There is one decent club in Vegas if you're under 21 and its extras heavy and full of pimps and prostitutes....and Atlanta is good if you want to see your customers outside the club a lot or just really love doing $10 lap dances.
My advice to you is to work in a state where alcohol is not served so you have a level playing field and can talk to the customers on the floor, or work in a club that's a juice bar and known for having customers who like very young looking girls and go there to satisfy that fetish.
Don't mean to discourage you...in all honesty I never know how girls under 21 can make any money because you HAVE TO be able to talk to customers to sell a dance and the rules there don't allow for that. Best of luck hunnie, I hope you find a place that's a good fit for you. Xxoo

Re: starting in portland
Ok I have to ask where on earth did you make $700 on a Tuesday at. Portland has been so bad money-wise for me.
