Advice for Incision Scar on Neck After Artificial Disc Replacement Surgery
Hi ladies! I'm hoping for some insight regarding my new scar. I underwent Artificial Disc Replacement Surgery on January 7th for my C5-C6. I had a herniated disc in my neck that was causing some slight nerve pain/damage and numbness of my right hand and left middle finger. The surgery was successful and I begin physical therapy next week. I have been out of work since Jan. 2nd, but am returning shortly.
I've included photos of the scar on my neck and am wondering if you ladies think I should cover it up or wear it with pride and let customers ask about it (if they see or notice it). And if I should, or do, cover it up, does anybody know of any makeup hacks? I'm terrible with makeup. In case you can't see where it is in the photos, the incision was made via an anterior approach. It is slightly off the right side of my neck. Somewhere in the front and to the side.
I use scar strips on it and I know it will fade more and more over time, but I need to go back to work.
Any advice or suggestions are appreciated. And please, no judging for returning to work after not even two months - I have bills to pay and feel fine as long as I don't do pole tricks. :D

Thats a really good scar. Its slim and faint and its not even all the way healed yet.
You could use Mederma patches to help it heal faster and become less visible. http://www.mederma.com/products/scar-products.php
If you want to just cover with makeup you could use Dermablend http://www.dermablend.com/scar-makeup
Overall with the dark lighting of the club I doubt it will even be noticeable.

Cover it up. I have some weird scars, and customers sometimes assume they're from self-harm. It freaks some guys out. Silicone sheets are your best bet for an OTC treatment (Scar Away or a comparable store brand). In the meantime, cover it up with a tacky pore-filling primer (I recommend NYX's--cheap and way more effective than most) and a full-coverage foundation. Pat both products on and use a setting spray afterwards. I'd also recommend an AHA after you've healed a bit more. Lasers can knock it out even more, but it's a pretty clean scar, and I imagine it'll heal satisfactorily with the sheets and a little time.

That is your scar a month in?
They did a great job
that is gonna fade to nothing
First, come up with a bunch of much more interesting stories. you know, knife fight in prison, near fatal fencing incident, injury from when you were in Afghanistan, where they cut you to let the demon out.....
seriously people are not going to notice it.
And there are a lot of cool choker necklaces etc if it bothers YOU

Thank you for the suggestions! I'll look into these for sure. I've been to my club as a customer a few times since my surgery and my friends have told me they barely see the scar under the lights there.

I didn't even think about your first point. I use scar strips (CVS brand) right now and they seem to be working great! I'm going to look into a pore-filling primer. Thank you!

Haha, thank you! My surgeon used staples over stitches. I lathered Bio Oil on for the first week after the scabs came off and then switched to scar strips from CVS. My stage name is Elektra (from the superhero), so I think I'll tell inquiring minds I got wounded during one of my assassination jobs lol. The girls I work with said they don't see it in the club when I've been in to visit.

Hot Topic sells cheap lace chokers & necklaces. I bought one for work after some bitc h choked me in a fight & my necklace chain left marks on my neck. It covered everything.

Silicone sheets work really well. I used them for my implant scars and they worked well. Plus, many plastic surgery addicts swear by BioOil. I used it on a scar and it worked pretty well. Good luck.
