EDIT: Oh, you added an extra 'I' to the hyperlink.
EDIT 2: I remember hearing about this when it was in the works. Cool to see that the project got completed. :)
http://www.camgirlzthemovie.com The link ran into her sentence.
ty bb :)
Loving it so far, except for the line "This job will definitely encourage you to become bi-polar."
That's not how it works!
lol I was really laughing at that one. I think they mean you can be on top of the world one day when you make a ton and next day you make nothing and in deep depression. That happens to me every time I try MFC again :)
Haven't had a chance to finish it but loved the first half of it so far!
I loved this doc! Especially since there was no narration or academic gloss on it, just camgirls doing their thing and speaking for themselves.
Really looking forward to watching this later :) there was a series of short 10 min stories about camgirls too, does anyone remember the one I mean and is it still going?
OK, finished it and really enjoyed it for the entertainment value.
I do think it was very unrealistic as it only showed one camgirl struggling and all the rest seemed to be successful MFC-only ladies who rarely even masturbated (and a couple were not even nude ever) and made it sort of look like you can easily pull 100k by putting on mime shows or clown makeup and never taking off your clothes, lol. These docs always seem to focus on MFC or token sites and don't show models who do mainly masturbation or sex roleplays.
I do realize there are a lot of MFC ladies who are not nude and do things like ventriloquist shows or hula hooping or trampolines, but I think there are way more who do more explicit shows to make enough money to cover bills.
These docs have to be polarizing. There is no way any of these docs can make every audience happy.
One breath we are all happy for a documentary featuring a narrative from cam girl perspective and the next we are bitching that these docs are making the industry flooded with new models thinking what we do is easy money falling from the sky.
I watched it and I liked it for the entertainment value as well, and I also agree it wasn't realistic. Yes, there are non-nude models, but most camgirls get naked and masturbate and that is how we earn a lot of our tips. I did like how they showed that all different body types can be successful at camming and you don't have to look like a Playboy Playmate to do it. I've worked in strip clubs too and camming is very different from dancing. There are a lot of women who would never get hired at most strip clubs who make a good living at camming.
I think mostly that's because they (and audiences) love the element of "Oooh, check it out, guys pay lots of money to see ladies doing weird things like miming, and somehow this counts as 'sex work'! How crazy is that?!"
But secondarily, I think they don't want to risk any accusations of making a porn by filming our explicit shows. Probably best for them to err on the side of safety.
Personally I think it would be hilarious if they kept the explicit audio rolling, and cut the video to non-erotic metaphors of what we're doing in the show. Someone takes their time squeezing the melons in the store, two mounds of flan/pudding/jello "twerk" on a plate, someone gets a back massage with a hitachi, a piece of phallic machinery bobs in and out of some product in an assembly line, and finally a beautiful scene of sea spray shooting into the air as a wave crashes into a rock. LOL!
thanks for sharing the link. Interesting and entertaining - i really enjoyed it :)
I really enjoyed it, especially hearing from customer's too and how camming is for them. I have to shut myself off tbh from thinking about things from my viewer/custies perspective, but i do wonder sometimes what they think of it all longterm and what they do it for (other than straight up jerk ing off obviously). The main thing I took from this though is that I can never compete with USA girls on mfc - glitter shows with other girls? Camming from the balcony? Naked trampolining??? Bloody hell lol.
This isn't true. I wish it were but it isn't. Girls are signing up and staying in droves. This why all our camsites are harder to make money on now. While I enjoyed this doc and have watched all the others too I HATE them for contributing to the decline of our pool of income. I would rather they weren't made at all and everyone continued think what disgusting Skanks we are.
I really enjoyed it. I got to say it was refreshing to see all different kinds of models rather than one type of model. Made me feel great. Every single model will obviously make income depending on their own hustle style.
I got time to watch the whole movie today and i can say it differs from my personal experience on cam, maybe because i come from different cultural & economical background and because i am old school, things changed soo much since i started camming out of need 15 years ago in a studio in e.europe.
All models in the movie are camming independently at home, working their own hrs, being their own bosses.
My experience at studio was traumatic, felt like working in a factory or so, 12 hrs shifts that i could barely manage & having a boss on my back setting up monetary goals that was not easy to reach.
I think it matters soo much how u start camming, if it's a positive or negative experience, i think it defines the way u feel about camming even u then start camming for urself.
I can say for sure it was enlightening on soo many levels but also focused on the positive somehow, i mean reading this forum & watching the movie feels like two different worlds? This is the feeling i get, if i was not camming already i would have believed camming is soo beautiful, easy, easy money.
They dont mention negative aspects like site glitches & traffic issues or so but maybe because it was mainly about MFC/ token sites & i work SM where things run differently?
I dont think i read many complaints in here about other sites but SM?! SM seems to be the most glitchy...
Anyway, this kind of movie definitely will make/made more people want to cam.
Liked the guys perspective also, i wish there was more customer POV in the movie.
Ty for posting this.
I also wanted to add that although I enjoyed the documentary, they made it seem like it's the key to being financially set in life and it's not in some cases. They didn't really talk about the days where you sit on cam for hours and make $0 or $5. They only talked about the big money days and being able to pay off student loans, provide for your family, or buy a house. For every top girl making $50,000 or $100,000 a month, there are many more camgirls who are making a good living but not getting rich and many who make around minimum wage as well. It's not a get rich quick job and it's a lot of hard work. I wish they would've talked more about how much off cam work and time goes into it, such as making videos, updating your social media, taking pictures, putting together raffles and raffle prizes, thinking up ideas for shows, keeping in touch with good tipping regulars via KIK or Snapchat, etc.
I agree w some other comments here, not realistic. Its entertaining but doesnt really show the reality of camming esp on pvt based. one girl actually said "it's a job. it's fun, it's not hard, but it's a job" yea it can be very fun but Not hard?! girl bye.... Also the girls constantly saying how they're emotionally connected to custies, that custies are their friends, etc they jus take it too far. honestly I did cry at the older lady talking abt losing her husband, liked that scene.
