Newbie going for gold - tips/advice!
Hello,
This is my first time posting here or similar but I've been lurking in the shadows ;)
Looking for some advice :)
I am starting out as a camgirl as a complete novice, I hope to go live next week, or the following week.
Despite only just starting out, I wanted to try my best to come in at a pro level.
I've ordered professional lighting, a very expensive HD webcam, and added new items to my existing (huge) lingerie collection.
I've also been researching as much as possible, watching camgirls live, and practising myself! (movements and poses, even talking on cam.) As well as looking into safety, changing IP address etc (can never be too careful!)
I'm wanting to create a very definitive brand, I am quite good with graphics and already have a logo made and looking into web design as well as getting lots of ideas for shows, games etc..
I'm very excited!! but also nervous of course, I have never done anything like this before. I have always been interested about sex and fantasied about being in the industry but this will be my first time showing this side of me publicly, and it is scary!
How do you feel about my approach? I was initially concerned that coming in at a 'higher level' may go against me as I'm loosing that kind of new amateur vulnerability? But I guess that will come across in my personality?
I would love to speak to anyone who started out as I did, with webcamming as their very first line of adult work.
What did you do for your first show?
Also, despite research I am having trouble understanding tipping/tokens/goals/topics XD
if you say 500 tokens for xyz, is that an ultimate goal you are working towards and you wait until for instance, 5 people all tip 100,
OR is it something that can be 'bought' outright by a customer who tips 500, and then 20 mins later it could be 'bought' again by a new customer?
If someone could please explain this in the simplest terms for me i would be very grateful it's the only thing i'm having trouble understanding!
Also as I say I am new, I am naive, I've seen some acronyms around I don't understand! (BB??) Could anybody help XD
Any other advice appreciated :) Also wondering which site you would recommend working on? (I've been lurking on MFC and Chaterbate?)
Is it worth setting up on a couple or just sticking to one when you start?
As I understand it, you can stream a feed to two sites simultaneously? One step at a time I know, but if anyone has experience of this I would love to hear about it!
I was attracted to this profession as it is something that interests me, and I want to make the most of my looks while I'm still young. (although never worked in adult industry before I have had many jobs and roles based on my physical appearance model, hostess, promo, gridgirl etc)
But ofcourse I want to make money too. I'm not at this time bothered about making AS MUCH MONEY AS POSSIBLE. But a steady wage that could eventually pay the rent and bills would be lovely.
I have a very unglamorous full-time job at the moment, and if things take off with camming I look forward to steadily dropping my hours before hopefully, the camming takes over completely.
Also, I plan to take a weeks holiday off work for my first week online.
Do you think this is a good idea?? I just thought I want to fully focus when I first go live.
Anything I do in my life I always give 100%, I'm naturally very competitive and I like to 'be the best', this will be my third self employed role, I'm very driven.
Any help advice or tips would be lovely! I would also be interested in making friends or having a 'buddy' if there's anyone interested or in a similar boat, I have always found mutual respect and support in an industry to be incredibly helpful and motivating.
If anyone has made it to the bottom of my super long post, thanks for reading and i'm sorry it ended up being so long! I do love to chat XD
Thank you,
Polly xxx
Re: Newbie going for gold - tips/advice!
I think your approach is great for MFC as you definitely need to do your research and have a plan before you start there. The best thing you can do for that site is to have LOTS of things to sell like videos, snapchat, games and Countdowns they can tip towards. Have all these listed on your profile and refer to them in your topic. You don't need a professional looking profile so don't be distracted by trying to jazz up your page just yet. List your items for sale, fill out your schedule, have a list of games and topic ideas for small tips, then get online, regularly, and be consistent.
A token is worth 0.05 cents and that is what you recieve (an easy way to quickly work out the math is tokens divided by 20), so 100 tokens = $5, 1000 = $50 etc, bear this in mind when pricing things.
You'll find lots of tips in the official MFC thread - https://www.stripperweb.com/forum/sh...reeCams-Thread
The Chaturbate thread is here - https://www.stripperweb.com/forum/sh...turbate-thread
And I highly recommend reading - https://www.stripperweb.com/forum/sh...-For-Cam-Girls

You have to be the hardest worker in the room. This isn't easy. I may work for 4-5 hours a day on cam, but I'm putting in close to 10-12 hours a day. This is a hard industry to stay in and be profitable because it's a saturated market. You have to figure out how to sell yourself and stay relevant. Do you know how much free porn is out there on the internet? There also will be free porn of yourself out there because of crappy affiliates and cappers.
You can have all fancy equipment in the world, but it comes down to the fact that this IS a personality contest. Sex appeal isn't everything too. Although it is a huge factor. You can be the hottest piece of ass, but if your personality is unlikable, it will be hard to make money.

Re: Newbie going for gold - tips/advice!
God, what was it one of the top MFC girls told me? She's on 6 hours per day, 6-7 days per week, so in the ballpark of 36-42 hours online total each week. She's offline making content, promoting, sending content, chatting with customers, prepping for the next show, etc., etc., for another 8-10 hours per day. Yes, sure, top MFC girls make in the 5 and 6 figure per month range, but 12-16 hour days are hard work and--as most of them will admit very freely--there's no small amount of luck involved in breaking out to the top. Top SM girls make $10k+ per month as well if they put in the hours. Same with any of the major sites, to be quite honest--top models are making 5+ figures monthly. But that begs the question--how do you become a top model?
What's the difference between a $100 per week earner and a $1000 per week earner? Mostly hours online and equipment.
What's the difference between a $1000 per week earner and a $10000 per week earner? Mostly sales skills, which are truly a combination of hustle, ability to attract clients, and luck.
Audri is right--we can sugar coat by saying it's whatever site works best for you, working hard, constantly adapting, etc., etc. And those are sugar coated answers, because the truth is that, at the end of the day, it's a whole lotta elbow grease, a whole lotta luck, and a good chunk of natural ability to attract customers. You can really only control one of those.
Re: Newbie going for gold - tips/advice!
And lets remember that the failure rate is, what 80% of models quit within the first two weeks? Just get online and GO and see what you think. Don't worry so much about your game until you see if this is something that you actually really want to do and do full time. This is a marathon, not a sprint and you need to hunker in and see if this is something you could imagine yourself doing day in and out and having your rent and bills depend on it.
I get it, you want to come prepared, but believe me it takes a lot of trial and error to see what works.

Amateur vulnearability is a BAD thing, but a cheap camera and bad lighting isn't what will make you vulnerable - it will be your attitude and overall lack of experience which cannot be helped. Keep researching (it's good to know about common scams, like using Paypal or doing ANYTHING before getting paid) and don't let anyone push you around on cam. The rest will come with experience.
As for your approach, I personally think you're putting the cart before the horse. But there's nothing terribly wrong with that. It just means you'll lose the money you spent on equipment and the time you've spent working on logos etc if this doesn't work out for you.
It's good that you're doing research. Keep doing it. Set aside an hour or two per day to focus on reading threads, researching sites, figuring out social media, etc.
But really, you just have to dive in. Camming is an incredibly personalized job. You won't be able to figure out what works for *you* until you start experimenting on your own.

It depends on what you're trying to do, but usually you just want to reach the goal. It doesn't matter how many people are tipping in, unless you're trying to play some kind of game that needs multiple people. But if it's low enough that someone is consistently buying it out, it's probably time to raise your goal.

Yes, I would recommend trying out a few different sites. But take them one at a time. Keep reading through this forum and check out the threads that are dedicated to individual sites. I'd say that Streamate, MFC and Chaturbate are the the most popular "big box" sites right now, but there are plenty of smaller sites that you might like better.

This is called split camming, and I don't recommend starting that until you know the sites like the back of your hand.
Re: Newbie going for gold - tips/advice!
Thank you so much for your replies and honest advice! It really means a lot to me.
Yes I know it won't be easy, and I won't truly understand the extent of this until im fully involved..
At the moment im incredibly motivated I really do enjoy putting my heart and soul into projects, I have set up my own successful business before, I am so willing to do the work!
Ive been really thinking outside the box in terms of marketing and particularly games/performance. Im not worried about my personality or sex appeal, obviously I won't be everyone's cup of tea but I am incredibly bubbly, im confident and naturally friendly. Im definitely not boring :)
Im very creative, I have got so many ideas for fun games I can't wait to try, I want to be something different.
Even my look is more unusual, which again won't be to everyone's tates but will hopefully help me to stand out.
I have invested a lot of money already and I know the reality is I might not be popular, also, I might hate it! Ive never done anything like this before at the moment it is a fantasty and a business model but when it's real life it might not be for me
But I would rather go into it giving it my best shot :)
But I don't expect it to be easy at all. Having set up my own business before I know all the extra work that goes into creating a brand. With that business I was also a performer (non adult)
Im really excited to start now, and nervous! But I know im just going to have to bite the bullet and go for it soon.
Im planning a 12-4 shift every day (which is the evening timezone in my target locations
After each session I will do a photo set too, my outfits are all themed to an extent.
Im just excited. As a potential business, but also just generally. I think I would really enjoy it and I find it a turn on myself so if it doesn't work out and people aren't interested it's still something I'll be happy to have experienced
Ive also just ordered a lush vibe similar after researching ohmybod which I can't wait to try out!
Thank you again to everyone who took the time to reply
Xxx
Re: Newbie going for gold - tips/advice!

You don't want to overdo it initially. I would say this is a great goal but you also don't want to wear yourself out off the hop. I am not saying don't put the time in but be good to yourself. If you feel like you are drained take a break for an hour or two periodically throughout the day or a day here and there. Self-care is incredibly important in this industry. Burn out can be a real bummer.
