Please help:( menstrual sponge is stuck and I cant get it out:(
I've been using the menstrual sponge for 4 or 5 of my periods and its never gotten stuck but I usually stick in a menstrual cup first and then the sponge next so that the sponge cant go in too far but I was having problems with it leaking so I just tried using the sponge by itself and now I can't get the damn thing out :'(:'(:'(:'(:'(:'(:'( I'm not bleeding that bad either so Idk if thats why its harder to get out cause its not full or what? Has anyone else had their sponge got stuck and couldn't get it out? If so, can someone please give me some advice on how to get this sponge out????

Re: Please help:( menstrual sponge is stuck and I cant get it out:(
Someone on the other thread said if you squat and "bear down" (like push I think) it helps it come out, good luck

Re: Please help:( menstrual sponge is stuck and I cant get it out:(
I'm sorry that this has happened. I had used those Instead cups a couple times in the past, and got one stuck...had to go to the E.R. to get the damn thing removed, and got a $200+ hospital bill for it. Never, ever again. I'm not familiar with the menstrual sponge, but it sounds like a similar product? The instructions to the Instead cups said that you need to "bear down" to push it out (that's a bit too much fucking work, IMO, to have to remove a feminine product), and I remember spending A LONG TIME trying to push it up...sweating and everything. I hope you're able to get it out soon on your own. Otherwise you may need to go to the hospital like I did. Good luck.

Re: Please help:( menstrual sponge is stuck and I cant get it out:(
When that happens to me I go in the shower, squat down, breathe like you are in labor- deep trying to be calm breaths, and reach in with one finger first and then with your other longest finger. Since these are not your thumb, they are weak, so you have to be patient and get one of the fingers so you can circle around the sponge. Then try to chopstick it further towards the opening, sometimes I have to use the other hand to close my fingers enough to wiggle the sponge, keeping on with the breathing and taking breaks now and then.
Eventually it slides down enough to be pulled out. Hopefully you don't have abnormally small hands like me and it will be easier.

Re: Please help:( menstrual sponge is stuck and I cant get it out:(
First of all try to calm youreself, if you are nervous your muscles will tighten up.. it will get out, dont worry, I had them stuck in me a lot of times, always got them out eventually =) so dont worry
I always use my thumb and index finger to pull it out (instead of the index and middle finger they advice on the package.. i am tight and my middle finger combined with my index finger arent strong enough to pull it out)
The advice above really helps (squating or sitting on toilet and pushing/squeesing your vagina muscles- pushing it out and pulling at it at the same time if you can reach it that is.
If you can touch it but cannot grab it it helps something to turn it around with the longest finger you have and try if you get it to turn in such a way it is better reachable (some sponges whave a little hole in them at which you can pull for instan ce, so try to turn it that way the hole is there where you can insert finger)
You can also go in the shower and use the showerhead(? i am not native english) to get water inside which will make the osnge absorb and it will get heavy and get lower because of the weight
If it doesnt work out, just take a break, calm youreself down and try again. I had it stuck onc e and when trying for thne third time and relaxing myself I got it out
For the future
it can help if you get a sponge with a hole next time if you dont have it right now, it makies it easier to pull them out. (I use brand: beppy wet sponges)
also getting a pre-wet one or lubing them up before inserting makes it easier to get them out since they slide out easier (esp when your peroid is low)
also fake nails help a lot since they are long and strong (before i had fake nails it was sich a pain in the ass to gte them out, i always get them now with my acrylic nails)

hot bath, squat, tilt and push and sometimes get your fingers up in there. you want to make a hook motion you don't want to pull .

Re: Please help:( menstrual sponge is stuck and I cant get it out:(
Thanks guys but I must have a longer than usual tunnel or something cause I could barely feel the sponge with my index finger but I finally got it out by squatting and pulling it out with my index finger and thumb after several tries. And it was a lot larger than my last set of sponges that I used which was probably making it harder to get out. I think that one reason I was having a hard time getting it out was because its my first day of my period and its still light. Are they easier to get out if your period is heavier? Or if you sit in the both tub to let it absorb some water? I also read some where that you can tie a string to it to make pulling it out easier but wouldn't that rip the sponge? Has any tried tying a string to theirs? If so what king of string did u use?

You wouldn't pull on the string the string will just guide you where it is like the contraceptive sponge you know there is a ribbon around it once you find the end of the string up there you know there sponge is located.

Squatting makes your cervix shorter. Squat snd relax. It's scary but you can fix this xxx

Re: Please help:( menstrual sponge is stuck and I cant get it out:(
If you happen to own medical forceps, they will do the trick nicely, but it's not something that many people have at home.
I wouldn't recommend this unless you're really stuck, but you can stick a spoon up there and use it to scoot the sponge low enough to reach. It's not exactly pleasant, but neither is going to the ER to have something removed from your twat.

Re: Please help:( menstrual sponge is stuck and I cant get it out:(
It was always a circus, contortionist freak show for me trying to remove sponges. It would take minimum an hour to get them out. I don't use them anymore and only use the FemmyCycle. You can still do penetration shows with it because it's not cone shaped.
Anyway, my trick was to get on my back and push like I was pushing out a baby, then roll up and squat. The entire time, try to reach the sponge with your fingers like forceps. Just keep repeating this, and eventually the fucking sponge will squeeze out. It helps to make loud grunting noises. Maybe make a clip too, you never know, it might sell on C4S under some creative category.

Re: Please help:( menstrual sponge is stuck and I cant get it out:(
^Yeah, I remember working in a daycare center, and spending several minutes in the bathroom trying to remove an Instead cup. Worried that I'd get in trouble for being in the bathroom for so long (while still clocked in), after several minutes of trying with no luck, I had to go back to my room with the damn thing still stick inside. And when I had to make that trip to the E.R., I remember some of the hospital staff coming into my room to "get a look" at what this mysterious product was, because none of them even knew what an Instead cup was. Lol. They wanted to know where in the world I found a product like this, and I told them I had bought it at CVS.

Re: Please help:( menstrual sponge is stuck and I cant get it out:(
Can you put a piece of thread through it with a needle so you can pull it out like a tampon?
I use the Soft Cups but they fucking move. I hate that. I was thinking of using the sponges. Now, I just use tampons and cut the string. I "ride" for my exclusives. I act like I sit on the toy, but I'm not inserting it. The guys think I'm fucking the toy.

Re: Please help:( menstrual sponge is stuck and I cant get it out:(
I heard that if you get in the bath and open your legs, let some of the water soak up, then stand up. The weight of the water might help lodge it down and make it easier to get out.

Re: Please help:( menstrual sponge is stuck and I cant get it out:(
Wow I didnt even know this was a thing. I cant wrap my mind around how or where it would be stuck. I can just reach in sweep my finger in a circle and pull it out.
I guess these bits can vary much more then I had ever considered.......

Re: Please help:( menstrual sponge is stuck and I cant get it out:(
For future (or anyone else reading this). I have found the most comfortable way is to insert a lot (no really, a lot) of liquid lube up there when you are ready to take it out. I often get mine stuck kinda behind my cervix if I've been doing a lot of toy shows and this is the only thing that helps. It fills the sponge so it's bigger (rather than all squished up) and also works against the natural tightness/resistance there. Glad you got yours sorted OP!

Re: Please help:( menstrual sponge is stuck and I cant get it out:(
I'm glad that you got it out, Girly_Girl! That is too much damn work just to remove a feminine product from your body, IMO, so I've gone back to using good ole-fashioned pads, and haven't regretted it. Lol. Having an object stuck in you is no fun. When I was a kid, I managed to get a popcorn kernel stuck in my ear. LOL.

You should squat squeeze down and keep pushing, good for the kegel muscles this one and then find something flat and long like a toothbrush or pen to scrape or get round the back of it if you don't have any medical stuff handy.!

Re: Please help:( menstrual sponge is stuck and I cant get it out:(
I guess your fingers are not long enough, or it got pushed way up near your cervix. Once i used a rounded spoon end or two to dislodge it enough for me to reach it. Hey, i improvise. It worked. Be gentle of course, squat, make sure everything is very clean. Use lube if needed. Relax, it won't disappear in you, however don't wait long for it eventually come down, because of toxic shock syndrome. I could not runt to the ER, as it would cost me $500 a visit. Yeah, that's what i get for being middle class and paying a bunch in insurance premiums monthly.

Re: Please help:( menstrual sponge is stuck and I cant get it out:(
Thanks for the suggestion, ladies, but like I said before, I don't use those products anymore because I can't stand them (don't like tampons either), and I refuse to have to keep doing all that just to remove a feminine product. Lol. Any advice posted in this thread will be helpful to the other ladies though (the ones who use those kind of products).

I recently started using these myself. I got a pack from the craft store and all are just a smidge too small; after a few hours, they migrate downward and are within easy reach. This is not super convenient if you are out and about and are worried about leaks, but certainly makes it convenient for rinsing/changing at home. I'm going to look for a slightly larger size, but it sounds like you might need to trim yours down a little. I can see how a big sponge on a lighter flow day could really get stuck!
