Could I make a living just by selling content? Is it doable if you are consistent?
Hello there ladies!!
Is anybody here lucky enough to live off from selling content ( videos, customs, pics) instead of working on cam?
I ve been working on cam for wayyyy too long ( well 8 yrs is too long for me), I took breaks in between and did it part time only while at college but I ve been doing it full time since 2010.
I m pretty jaded, tired of dealing with pervs, being treated like crap, having time wasters contacting me , etc.
I have been only working indy sites ( no free chat sites) for a long time now cause i honestly don't have the patience to deal with annoying dudes anymore ( I will be 33 in June, too old for that bs...lol)
I ve sold content on and off but never very consistent with it and stop uploading for long periods of time.
The times I was dedicated and would upload at least 3 times x week I used to make some extra $$ with it but never enough to consider it my main income...
If I upload daily on several sites ( c4s, elm, manyvids, niteflirt) could I have a chance to make some decent income?
I know a girl on twitter who only makes videos and does great but she s into the " money pig" or money slave thing so guys spend lots of money on her, etc.
I m more vanilla and certain fetishes but never did well with financial domination, every "slave" that contacted me turned out to be fake...lol
I would like to hear any input that you have about it and if it s doable.
Forgot to mention, I would be uploading new videos 5 - 7 times a week ( so daily or almost daily).
Happy camming ladies!!!!

Re: Could I make a living just by selling content? Is it doable if you are consistent
Yes you can is the short answer. But it is a LOT harder work than cam, and for less. Having said that I have never put my all into making content and really going for it, so i am no expert. The thing to do is give it a go? :) x

Re: Could I make a living just by selling content? Is it doable if you are consistent
I havent ever done JUST content making but I'm on the same page as you, just not in the same boat, lol. I would SO rather make content. If I upload consistently and stick to the fetishes that work for me personally, I've brought in over $300 in one month. Now I'm like you and I'll go a month without uploading anything or even longer, so to get that money from trying for only one month or so isn't bad, I imagine it CAN be done, but I'd say the ones that are gonna make the most are probably gonna have top-notch equipment and a great set up and upload, I'd say, 3x a day to c4s at least. You might do way better than me though, who knows! I'd say transition into it... That way you're still in your camming mindset to make needed cash but start setting aside 2 hours of what was previously cam time and make/upload clips and see how quickly you start making money and feel out your fetish niche. Can't hurt to add another egg, right?

Re: Could I make a living just by selling content? Is it doable if you are consistent
You can make a living by strictly selling your content. I honestly rarely cam, but I have other adult income(adult content writing, phone sex, and escort booker). I, like you, cannot stand the freeloaders, timewasters, etc., that free cam sites bring, so I only do indy camming when I do cam. It will be a lot of work, but very possible. Consistency is key.

Re: Could I make a living just by selling content? Is it doable if you are consistent
Success only happens when you are consistent it does not matter what you are doing.
Ther eis a saying pick one thing and master it before you move on to something else.

Re: Could I make a living just by selling content? Is it doable if you are consistent
I've shot with an SSBBW who makes money solely off clips, while she spends full time per week advertising, uploading, etc. She says the key is to upload like ten clips a day to stay at the top.

Re: Could I make a living just by selling content? Is it doable if you are consistent
Sam38G also included a good answer to clips, search for her and you can see her tips, but I've always heard upload 50-60 a week and stick with it and you'll make great income. Anything can be a clip, some of my most popular were shaving my legs! 6-10 clips a day does sound like a lot but if you think of how many opportunities there are with our day to day it really becomes easier! This is my goal too, to have a steady income with clips!

Re: Could I make a living just by selling content? Is it doable if you are consistent
I switched from full time calming to full time filming. I do only make femdom videos, no vanilla, but I made pretty good money! My SO works so we do have something to fall back on if my earnings aren't as high, I want to preface by saying that because it's important.
You absolutely do not need 50-60 videos a week. There's no way anyone could keep up with that. Upload 5-10 videos a week and you're set! You can literally film anything and someone out there will probably buy it.
When you're feeling it and you're in a good mood, then set up and film as many videos as you can before you are sick of it. Switch outfits, toys, rooms, etc. Then you can edit and upload. If you can film 5 videos that day then you don't really need to do much for the rest of the week besides edit and upload.
It is a lot of work and you will not make as much as if you were camming but if you're consistent and market your videos properly (tweet pics, teasers, updates) then you're going to make a pretty good amount.

Re: Could I make a living just by selling content? Is it doable if you are consistent
Yes, you can. i did for years, then 2008 came along the economy crashed & tubesites hit the web.
To do so is a full time job, not only filming, editing & uploading, but marketing. You have to do lots of marketing with social media sites.
Have a main pay site, I use Model Centro. Next you need all the usual sites like c4s,extralunchmoney, mypornprofile, customs4u, freeones and such. Try clipdrone to upload to all of them at once.
Then create front & back page of a dvd covers & put 5 of them into a dvd format to sell on sites like Aebn, hotmovies and such like major porn companies do.
Twitter, tumblr, intagram for marketing. You need to create one trailer & 1 to 4 GIFs for each video to post on tumblr. Post lots of selfies on twitter, intagram with hashtags & ur pay site on each time. You must water mark each pic.
You need to put in 60 hours or more a week to really get it going. Solo fetish videos are great, but really bring it with imagination, creativity & work constantly on improving editing skills. Adobe cloud is $50 a month, Lydia.com is $27 a month to up your game on that front.
Take 1 to 2 days to knock out all the filming and the rest for editing & marketing. Also you can go mainstream and do nothing sexually& do youtube videos like Trisha Playas did. She banks. One former porn star is the #1 money maker on youtube, pulling in $5 million a year. She just opened up & played with toys, never showing her face.

Re: Could I make a living just by selling content? Is it doable if you are consistent
Since you did private route, all those emails & contacts you have can be used to directly market your new pay site or c4s store and get sales immediately.
Customs4u is a great company to do in order to pull in that crowd. Each video needs to be watermarked, so no matter what they know where to go for the main source of videos.
My first year on Model centro I did 400 videos.
Do lots of content trades & work with as many different girls as you can, people bring fresh new takes & ideas to shoots. Helps with marketing to have another name with yours. In that years time, I shot with about 20 other models. Attended Fetish con in Tampa, in August and filmed 40 videos there with 8 different girls alone. I was on a mission did not hit one party or the show floor one time.
Keep in mind to always rent an upscale hotel when traveling & shooting. Better the room looks in the video more likely the guys will buy it.

There are people on c4s pulling in $100,000 a year, it can be done.

Re: Could I make a living just by selling content? Is it doable if you are consistent
This doesn't answer your question and I don't know you but coming from someone who has been a fulltime cam model since January 2003 going on 14 yrs. It really helps if you have some serious goals for your future!.. that's what keeps me going the most hon.

Re: Could I make a living just by selling content? Is it doable if you are consistent
This is up to you. You still have to do the work. If you are not uploading vids you will not make money!
during the years i tried:
1) just to sell used stuff like panties etc i made for a while living from that. Yes i could pay my apt and food.but some ppl just dont pay or making all kind of troubles. I lived almost for a year like that.
1)just camming. well hard to make ppl pay sometimes, also if i get sick im not online so im not making anything
3)just live out of selling clips i did it for a half year and well i run out of ideas what to film sometimes. takes time to build your regulars, find your category, also environmental factors like noisy neighbors, cars outside, planes, trains all sort of things.
last year i tried to do it all camming, selling clips, selling stuff. well it works..but i have no fun time at all, no time to exercise.
You can make vids and still going online. I just recommend to not live only on one source of income! It is boring and dangeous. Not even once i had a problem with my payment processor and i was waiting my money for 2 month, good that i had other way to make money and pay my food!

You are right, you absolutely don't need to upload 50-60 a week. I was under the impression she wants to make most income from clips, if so, yes you do. You cannot get by with only 5-10 clips a week I can assure you :-) with anything to be successful, be consistent. There's a lot of threads on here about clips and many of the members will help out and guide you. There's a lot of solid info on here so have fun and good luck!

I make enough money that I can live off and pay all of my bills with and put into savings and I upload about 30 videos a month. Unless you are filming with a lot of different people you will not be able to make that many clips a week and still have ideas. I said before that you can film anything from brushing your teeth to sneezing and people will buy the videos, but you'd have to separate stores into niches/fetishes or people will not take the time to look through the videos. This requires even more time than if you just have one store.
Even then I don't know how a normal person can make so many videos. To edit and upload 7 videos a week I spend about 15 hours in total making gifs, taking screenshots, uploading to numerous sites, write descriptions, and advertise.

Re: Could I make a living just by selling content? Is it doable if you are consistent
Thank you ALL so much for all the advice and help ladies!!!
And I thought I was being "consistent" uploading 1 video daily, LOL I see it takes MUCH more than that in order to make steady income from videos...
I don t think I could do 10 videos x day, I would run out of ideas very quickly and get burnt out...
But I can try uploading 5 videos daily Mon to Fri ( to start) for a month and see how I do, etc.
Making several different sites for different fetishes I think I would drive myself kinda crazy, well at least while i m doing the transition and still working on cam...lol
I really wish I could finally retire from the naughty world but since this s what i m doing now cause it s so hard for me to get a regular job( and also, I m not sure how long I could work for someone else...., I ve done MY thing for so long, I don t think I would last more than a few weeks anywhere, having a shitty boss to work for...) I would like to make a good, steady income and I thought sellin g content instead of camming would be great..
But I would still have to cam, at least until I start making some real good income from videos only.
Thank u so much ladies, you rock!!!!

OMFG! I never heard of clipdrone...that tidbit is going to get me back into making clips again. The ONE thing I hated was uploading, uploading, uploading. I took a look at their site and am checking out some of the sites clipdrone works with that I haven't heard of before. Quick question, if you know off hand, do any of those sites allow a single use download for someone that has already paid you for a custom? Kind of like projectmaenad? I typically film prepaid customs on Mondays and deliver them to my clients monday night. I'd love to start using clipdrone tomorrow!

I think I've seen her channel.
It's children's toys. She opens them assembles them and plays with them and talks with a cute voice. No sexual stuff and nothing adult. She just reviews the toys and plays with them.
Amazing to me the $$$ she makes!

Re: Could I make a living just by selling content? Is it doable if you are consistent
Has anyone tried a newsletter to help advertise this. I want to do videos that are not strictly allowed on most clip sites (period play, peeing, etc.). My thoughts were to setup a newsletter that people can sign up for, though I need to read through the TOS to see if I can find one that allows this sort of thing. Additionally other deals or special items that are up for sale can be offered through the newsletter (pic of panty of the week that you can bid on, or a custom clip sale).

Re: Could I make a living just by selling content? Is it doable if you are consistent
I was wondering how it's possible to get into adult content writing? I'm sure there are some adult entertainment blogs and businesses who hire freelance writers. And then you have escorts, cam girls, strippers, etc. who probably want to hire writers, as well. I've been Googling, but I want to know how to dive into that part of the industry. I already write vanilla stuff as a freelance writer, but it's not paying enough these days.

LadyCoco,
You can get into adult content writing. Usually, you can join GFY.com and they are always advertising for adult content jobs. You can also try freelancer.com because they are also looking for adult content writers. :)

Yes! I rarely cam because I hate it, lol. I make 90% of my money from producing and selling clips.
I do try to make 6 clips a week though.
