where would be cheaper to live? Las Vegas or Mexico?
Have been camming for a while and is time to start saving cutting costs of living which are huge in california where i currently am...So I wanted to change my life and rent an apartment somewhere where overall life would be easy and cheap while supporting self from camming income.
Considering these places:
Las Vegas
Puerto Valarta , Mexico
Espanada , Mexico
Cabo San Lucas , Mexico
My worries are that even if in Mexico it seems cheaper to rent I am not the kind to eat pizza and tacos and just any food and need some health food (i have food allergies) and can't find any stores in mexico...so probably the imported stuff is more expensive?
Also the internet seems ancient...also there is a problem of safety - am a sexy blonde camgirl...so does it mean Las Vegas would be a better bet for me?I like Vegas but the summer months in Vegas are super high electric bill?
Any thoughts on any of this and some experience from both or any of these places on planet would be so appreciated...I don't have a boyfriend would be living totally alone so am not sure if I should even consider Mexico because of the safety but if any camgirls moved there - can you share your experience ? thank you
p.s. what about bottled water? is it very expensive in mexico?
are imported food so expensive it would be overall more expensive than usa?
are any camming sites blocked in mexico?
what internet provider do you use if camming in mexico?
is camming totally legal there?
thanks!!

Re: where would be cheaper to live? Las Vegas or Mexico?
I live in Mexico (Born and raised), so let me chime in.
If you're moving here I strongly advise you to move to a large city like Guadalajara or Mexico City. In the large cities we do have fiber internet, and some ISPs offer symmetrical services (I have 40/40 down and up with Axtel, through fiber to the home and my bill is like 600mxn a month. This ISP offers up to 200Mbps symmetrical (Up and down) for $999mxn for example).
It seems to me that you will love areas like Polanco, La Condesa and Colonia Roma (In Mexico City) and Ciudad del sol, Colonia Americana, Chapultepec and Providencia (in Guadalajara. All of the west side of the city is great to live). Plenty of culture, cheap rent, great places to eat out, overall safe places as long as you know what you're doing.
Yes, camming is perfectly legal here. Although you'd have to do something about your taxes as you still are an American citizen (I can't talk about it as I have no experience in the topic). No camming sites are blocked here. None. And you could even use a VPN like TunnelBear if that's a concern of yours.
Where the hell did you get the idea that in Mexico we only eat Tacos? It's like us Mexicans thinking that you guys only way burgers and hot dogs all the time (Hint: we... Well, IDK lol you americans are funny. But I digress!). We have lots of WalMarts, stores like Whole Foods (Superamas and Chedraui Select stores. They're like Walmart, but with more gourmet stuff), you can get fresh produce (Fruits, vegetables and other goodies) in mercados and tianguis for a whole week for less than $8usd. There are PLENTY of healthy food options, be it takeout or to cook on your own, for dirt cheap. If you know what you're doing.
What this means is: You won't have to import anything (Food related) as our supply is plenty, fresh, safe to consume and cheap as hell.
Bottled water is not really that expensive. Yes, we don't drink tap water as our water network isn't as good as in the US but you can install water filtering systems in your house so you can actually drink that tap water safely. They're not expensive. You'd just have to change the filters every 3 or 4 months.
Medical insurance is available. For like $25,000mxn a year you get access to full med insurance (Possibly dental as well, depending on the provider) under high end hospitals like the Puerta de Hierro medical center. Again, the public health system sucks but if you have the money, you can gain access to better stuff (Much cheaper than in the US, that's for sure).
Again, Mexico is a nice place if you know what you're doing and stick to safe areas. The language barrier could be a problem but most of the middle to upper class, especially the youth speaks English fluently and is quite friendly. Should you move here, I strongly advise you to learn Spanish at a local college. Shouldn't be expensive.
Hell, camming you could afford your own place (Through a mortgage) in a year or less here in Mexico. And I'm talking about a nice apartment in a nice area like the ones I listed.
What I suggest you to do is to do your research. I can assure you that living in Guadalajara will be TONS cheaper than Las Vegas, and even if you, for example, are in the porn industry, flights to Vegas coming from Guadalajara's Intl. airport are dirt cheap (Just looked up, $6,000mxn back and forth). Having a US passport will make it tons easier.
Again, do your research and factor in costs and everything. Say that perhaps for living expenses, rent included, you'd be spending like 1,100usd a month (And that's a damn fine standard of life including all of your services, rent, mobile phone bill, etc etc). Hit me up via PM if you have further questions :)

Lol @ the tacos..
A member that is no longer on here (Melonie, maybe you can search some of her posts, try Dollar Den section) lives in Mex. She lives in a very nice gated community, & it's reasonably priced from what I understand, though I don't know the name of it.
&, a SHOUT Out to Karina!!!:-*

Re: where would be cheaper to live? Las Vegas or Mexico?
wow awesome! I did not expect so much info - thank you so much for taking the time!
as for diet - i have special needs so am extra careful
i can never find anything on the road when i travel in usa have to take my own food
in europe had problems finding food in certain countries
mexico will be easier cause is tropical i figure there is plenty avocado there - i eat avocado every day and fruit
my diet also needs fermented veggies , yoghurt and fish
in usa i depend on whole foods
not sure where to go in mexico?
am a creature of habit a bit like hugh hefner who travels with own hard boiled eggs and takes own food to restaurants
if i can get the internet and food part worked out i could be happy in mexico just a feeling
my only other idea is vegas which has two whole foods
thank you for the big city advice - i was set on something smaller
i must get out of california soon - i can't take these prices anymore...

Re: where would be cheaper to live? Las Vegas or Mexico?
can anyone tell me if electric bill is huge in las vegas in summer?

Re: where would be cheaper to live? Las Vegas or Mexico?
You won't have any issues whatsoever regarding food. We have WalMarts, stores similar to Whole Foods (Superama, Comercial Mexicana, Chedraui come to mind), you can get fresh produce for cheap in any mercado (Market) or tianguis so all of your nutritional needs will be covered without any problems.
We have Uber in major cities. That should tell you something.
As for the internet, your best bet is Axtel. They are the best and fastest Internet provider in Mexico and their reliability is top notch. Electricity is cheap compared to the US, then again it's advised to make your house as efficient as possible with LED lightbulbs and whatnot.
Public transportation isn't really the best either in Mexico City (It's much better here, but still) or Guadalajara, so if you have a car I strongly advise you to bring it here. You can still get your own here and there are lots of ways to get a credit, easier than in the US that's for sure.
Honest with you I love Guadalajara. It's more calm than Mexico City, but the latter is a much larger place. After all, I'm sure you have a smartphone so, apps like Moovit, Uber, Google Maps and Waze will help you get around town with ease.
Gas prices are the same as in US major cities for the most part.

Re: where would be cheaper to live? Las Vegas or Mexico?
Thank you again!!
I don't drive...I always use buses and subway. But am not demanding and not going to places a lot and sort of a homebody with internet being my life- unless I travel I don't go out much- would just walking to supermarket and around be safe? If you can recommend an area that is safe with stores I would look into rentals there (in Guadalajara) and just get an idea about prices...
hugs!

Re: where would be cheaper to live? Las Vegas or Mexico?
Depends, really. Mostly on your monthly budget for rent and how much you're making a month. Expect to spend up to $1,000USD for rent a month if you're seeking a luxurious penthouse. But it can be much cheaper if you look for other places.
Again, depends on your budget.

Re: where would be cheaper to live? Las Vegas or Mexico?
I live in Mexico City and have lots of American friends living here and love it! I'm not going to say this is the safest time in our country's history, but like someone else said, big urban areas should be okay! And gods know dollars go a looooooooong way here nowadays.

Re: where would be cheaper to live? Las Vegas or Mexico?
OMG I didn't expect another person from Mexico in this forum! <3

Re: where would be cheaper to live? Las Vegas or Mexico?
Try looking at some expat sites. Most of them have the cost of living for countries, regions, and cities. some even let you compare it to your current city's average & break it down by cost (power, phone, groceries, ect.).

Re: where would be cheaper to live? Las Vegas or Mexico?
I live in Las Vegas and I think it's the best city in the world. No offense to anyone, bit you couldn't pay me to live in Mexico. I'm too afraid of being kidnapped or killed in all the violence there now.
Vegas is cheap living compared to Calif.
Rent for a nice 1 bedroom is $600 plus. Yes utilities in the high summer might get around $100 for AC 24\7 but the rest of the year you won't need it. There is world class food, shopping and entertainment. I adore it. No one here gives a fuck if you're a cam girl, escort, porn star, or secretary. People are so nice and non judgemental. I love every minute of living here. Not to mention the 24/7 lifestyle.
After I'm done camming at 2 am I can go to a million open restaurants for breakfast, sushi, etc. I can go grocery shopping at 4am. Time means nothing here.
I would totally recommend las Vegas. It's a perfect fit for a cam model. Feel free to PM with any questions.
Viva Las Vegas!!!!

Re: where would be cheaper to live? Las Vegas or Mexico?
Well, it seems like there's violence everywhere, no? That said, I've heard a lot of ppl move to LV frm Cali.
I have a friend that lives in LV, I can text him, I've been meaning to anyway. Thanks for the perspective^.
What about the electric bill, she wanted to know?

Re: where would be cheaper to live? Las Vegas or Mexico?
Fuck it. Now I want to move to Mexico!! <3

Re: where would be cheaper to live? Las Vegas or Mexico?
Ok, don't get me wrong: There ARE places with violence in Mexico. However, Guadalajara and Mexico City are among the safest in the country and one more time: As long as you know what you're doing, stick to the safe areas, avoid fooling around or showing off luxury items and try to live low profile (Like anybody else should, be it in London, NYC or Detroit), you'll be perfectly fine.
There are pros and cons of any place. The pros of a place like Guadalajara are that everything is dirt cheap when you're making 4k+ USD a month. You can pretty much live like a queen. Services are cheap. Rent is cheap, depending on the place you pick and applying for a mortgage is easy as hell compared to the US. So is getting credit cards, lines of credit and whatnot with such incomes. Nevermind the fact that healthcare and education are waaay cheaper here than in the States. With $30,000mxn a year you get private, high end full medical insurance in the best hospitals in the country, and tuition in a university like the Monterrey Institute of Technology (Best uni in the country, up par with top tier unis in the US and top 50 worldwide AND offers all of its courses in English, including STEM major ones) is like $90,000mxn per semester.
Yes, Las Vegas is wonderful but for someone like us, with the income we can generate, Mexico offers a fantastic bang for the buck and a great opportunity for investing in the future. Our future.
Hell, for $120k USD you can get a luxury penthouse in a nice area! Think about that. For most people in Mexico all of this is expensive as hell, but keep in mind that 85% of the population down here makes less than 700usd a month. Guess on what percentile you'd be sitting?
But those are my two cents.

Re: where would be cheaper to live? Las Vegas or Mexico?
Yes, Karina this Melonie who used to be on here, she lived in a luxury gated community, if I remember right here rent was like 500.00 a month? I don't remember the city or place she was in..I know she mentioned yachts by there.
I mean, I live in the Chicago burbs, it's not too bad safety wise out here (co$t of living's another story) but damn I am shocked @ the murder rate & violence, I stay away from the city as much as possible.
I have been thinking for awhile about moving to another country..isn't there a whole process to move to Mexico? (someone told me there was) Thanks!

Re: where would be cheaper to live? Las Vegas or Mexico?
KarinaGiselle,
I would have to say that you are right about Guadalajara. Actually, I just adore the whole Jalisco state overall. However, I guess that I was always in love with Tequila over Guadalajara because it is more quiet and old fashion. Also, I am in love with their Tequila tours :) I was just wondering what is your opinion about living outside of Guadalajara?

Re: where would be cheaper to live? Las Vegas or Mexico?
I live in the LV area and have a two bedroom place currently. During the summer months, my electric bill can range from high 200s to 300s depending on the outside temperature. I would say that my family uses a good bit of electricity compared to someone who would be single and living on his/her own. Gas bills never go over $50 even during cooler months because I rarely need to heat our place. As sweetandnaughty said, there is always places open here. There are many events/shows that go on downtown if you are into that sort of thing as well. Depending on what you are looking for, you will find that rent prices vary in different areas of the city or suburbs. I am sure over all it is much cheaper than California though, or so I have been told many times. My experience with people here have been hit and miss, but you will find that anywhere you live in the end.
Also you mentioned that you don't drive, so I wanted to add that there are buses here. Keep in mind though, not all bus stops have shaded areas and you will be sitting and waiting (if you ever need to) at those stops in extremely hot temperatures during the summer months. You probably won't be waiting long but it is something to consider. I hear the buses aren't very pleasant here. Luckily, I haven't had to deal with such a thing. Something tells me they aren't very pleasant smelling during summer months.

Re: where would be cheaper to live? Las Vegas or Mexico?
I've been to both. I think that the cheapest choice evidently, if that is what you are really looking for, is Mexico, however by the way you asked these questions about Mexico, it seems to me you don't have enough knowledge of the area and the culture there and might feel a bit lost for a while. I mean you will find anything you want in Mexico DF as far as food (mmmm tacos) and clothes and any supplies and technology, but the cultural shock will obviously be bigger there than LV. So you might want to consider that as well.
As for safety well yes Mexico has problems but mostly in other areas...stay away from Acapulco, Tijuana and Culiacan.
I live in Costa Rica and it is pretty cool but Mexico is way cheaper and the internet is better, more cosmopolitan and cultural too. I've been there twice and everybody was so damn nice and the food was the best I've had...oh and the weed was so cheap lol. Now that I think about it I would love to live in Mexico!
