Yes, I worked in a little dive, I forget how many stools were @ the bar (there was a few tables too) but when the mean ass prick owner was in, we couldn't sit either!
Tryin' to think of some more..
Can't drink at the bar without street clothes on... So everyone throws a dress on over their stripper outfit.
Having to do 3-4 songs on stage. Super irritating.
Getting fined for beeing 5 minutes late for your shift!!!!
$100 fine for going home early
I would guess that this club has had an issue with lazy dancers spending the whole night at the bar - not just taking up seats, but making the bar generally look depressing.
There are plenty of stupid rules out there (most of which are illegal for the club to have in place), but I rarely see rules that aren't there for a reason. Even if the rule is ridiculous and illegal, you know it's trying to solve a problem that one too many dancers caused for the club.
No bringing outside food to work. I think it is to force the dancers to buy food either from the bar or house mom. I ignored that rule and would bring my own lunch anyway. I claimed dietary restrictions. ;)
not all of these happened in clubs i worked in. some are from clubs my coworkers worked in.
* fine for bringing in outside food. girls either went hungry during those long shifts or had to pay full price for bar food (which wasn't healthy- and we dancers need a healthy diet). at least let girls bring in a granola bar or piece of fruit, even if they have to eat it in a particular section to avoid attracting vermin!
* no walking with a lit cigarette in one's hand. could only smoke sitting with a customer.
* fired if unable to show up for a shift, even if there's an emergency, such as a car accident.
* had to order real alcohol, no fakes. pressured to order alcohol, not non alcoholic drinks. the pressure to drink was also on UNDERAGE dancers. girls would vomit during their shifts!
* not allowed to approach customers sitting at the bar if under 21, even if they call you over and you don't order alcohol.
* nails had to be painted/done.
* certain hair lengths. i understand not every club will hire a girl with a mohawk, but it's ridiculous to tell a girl her hair is too long!
* not allowed to bring in a water bottle for your shift, even if you bring it in empty. they wanted you to pay $5 for a tiny plastic cup of water! talk about dehydration!
No chewing gum on the floor because it does not look "classy". -expired rule
No tattoos. Any tattoos must be covered by the makeup artists for at least $10 but more if it was a big tat. -expired rule
No using the female bathroom on the first floor. (This I can understand when you have 100 girls, that female custy will never get to use the restroom).
I've worked in so many clubs with stupid rules.
in one club: there were different color rooms for lap dances. like a purple room, blue room etc and you had to like earn the right to use certain rooms. these "v.i.p" girls even got their own dressing room. idk it was just so weird and stupid to me. and you were expected to get on stage but when I start doing my usual moves a girl runs over and goes "you don't have to do so much work, customers don't tip the stage" WTF then why is anyone up here??!! I never went back
another club: this club I actually kinda liked and just HATED the staff and had to leave. You HAD to work 4-5 days a week, which I have a problem with. It's a strip club not an office, don't tell me when to come in. i hate schedules. So anyway the "stage" was dancing on the bar, kinda fun but awkward. you had to walk around and ask everyone at the bar if you could dance for them (which was just holding onto the ceiling bar and dancing around a little) and the bartender watched us like a hawk. If she caught me skipping a very uninterested looking guy, I was in trouble. You had to go up at least once every 45 mins or something, and the bouncers would walk around with these clipboards to make sure you went up on time. Even if you were in the middle of a string of dances, you had to go up. ridiculous. There was a sign at the bar that said "topless table dances $10" and it was my first night and a guy wanted one. I do my thing and a girl runs over and says "you can't be topless on the floor!!11!!1!" They had never told me this. I'm like.... "ookay what's the sign for then" and she's like "those are old rules!!!" ook...bye
Maybe I'm just a brat but I refuse to work at any club with a schedule or anywhere that tells me I have to interrupt a private room for a fucking 2 song stage set. NO
That's truly weird & unnecessary!^
& OMG @ the being forced to drink, esp underage!
-No boots-they scuff up the stage. These are stripper boots with the exact same underbelly as stripper shoes. In a club that was literally filthy-as in dirt on walls, toilets flooded with shit, etc.
-No not sitting with a customer buying drinks, even if there's already a girl there, he's not spending a dollar, or he's having bareback sex with a waitress for drugs. All three at one point. Reminder-Dan, that really makes it hard-no pun intended-to make small talk.
-No stage names with more than two syllables cuz the customers "can't listen for that long."
This was all at my first club. They need girls, if anyone's interested.
No leaving early, even if you're sick or need to go to your other job
No chewing gum on the floor
No drinking beer out of the bottle
No boots, not even stripper boots
No twerking/pole tricks
One club had a rule where only two girls were allowed in the dressing room at one time and you weren't allowed to use the main restroom, only the one in the dressing room so if girls were taking forever in the dressing room you had to stand there practically pissing yourself waiting to pee.
The special of the day can only be ordered by customers, even if the dancer has cash in hand plus a sizeable tip. She has to get a customer to order it for her, and then she can pay the customer for it.
They recently let up on this rule, but I work at a bikini bar. We had a rule that you'd get fined if your butt cheeks showed....... YUP
My club doesn't sound too weird after all this!
No chewing gum on the floor (expired rule)
Dancers could not use customer bathrooms (expired rule)
1 Entertainer in the bathroom at a time
No sitting at bottle service tables without a customer
Must keep one foot on the floor while giving lap dances
• Must wear red lipstick.
• Must wear stockings.
• NO tips allowed (not even stage tip). All money had to go through the manager.
• Not allowed to use the word "no" when talking to a customer.
Wow. I guess I'm lucky cuz mine doesn't have any rules other than you can't leave early.
