Re: Im cam modeling as an international student is it even legal ?
WHOA...you need to check your student visa. By doing ANY paying work off-campus without a special condition on your visa you ARE breaking the terms of your student visa. There are a LOT of girls who cam while on visas that do not allow them to work, so do NOT use them as proof of what is a good idea, because if/when you get deported, they won't be helping you out.
Because the work is PHYSICALLY occurring in Canada, you need to pay taxes IN CANADA. As soon as you file your taxes, the government will match it to your visa and you will be in big fucking trouble.
Living off campus does not mean you can work off campus. On-campus jobs are specifically there for ALL students, and ESPECIALLY international students because the schools know that there are a lot of restrictions for internatinal students on working.
As for "the best way to get paid to not get caught"...it's obvious you don't ACTUALLY care about whether or not your student visa allows you to do the work you are currently doing. KEEP IN MIND: you can lose your student visa, and your place in the school, as well as being banned from entering Canada for up to 20 years if you get caught. And other countries have agreements with Canada that if you are labelled "no entry" in Canada for breaking visa working conditions you may be unable to enter other countries as well, as they will not trust that you will follow their laws as well.

If you do not have the financial resources to be an international student with restrictions on the work you can perform, why the fuck did you decide to be an international student? Every university has an international student advisor, go talk to them. They can help you find scholarships, grants, bursaries aimed at international students, but right now you are BREAKING THE LAW. If you just want to go ahead and break the law, do us all a favour and stop posting looking for validation of your stupid illegal life choices.

Then go ahead and report me. I'm sick of all the threads of people who want to move and cam. There are LAWS. This girl clearly does not actually care if she is doing something illegal, so why the fuck bother posting?

Re: Im cam modeling as an international student is it even legal ?
Im with bootsie on this one. You chose to be an international student and that means you have to abode by the laws and rules for everything in your host country including working. If you cam others will notice and you can and will be reported and there goes everything you wanted to achieve and more. There is a big reason why countries such as mine are having a massive crackdown on the amount of international students being accepted and that because so many say they are here to study then work illegally, dont pay their way, cost the economy a tonne and us the tax payer are left to bail them out when they get nicked and eventually deported. You are a guest in Canada so respect their wishes. If you were in my country and i found out about what you were doing then i would have no hesitation in going to immigration.

Could she cam, but not cashout, until after she's done, that way she doesn't lose fans from a long absence? Maybe reduce cam hours and work part time so you actually have money on hand.

Still illegal. It doesn't matter whether you cash out or not, you are being paid for a service, even if you never hit payout.

Okay, then perhaps maintain a blog/Twitter and continue interacting for the sake of keeping at least some of your fans. Ooh and you could continue to record content, so when you get back home you have a bunch of special content from while you were away to draw people back in. If you don't already have a clip store you could also use this to setup and get yourself known in a clip store.

Remember that you cannot post those videos for sale though. There is some debate in immigration law about whether or not doing the work (filming) in another country is still illegal, as you will later profit from that. There are cases I could go into (hello, I am a HUGE immigration law nerd, became one when I was searching for a way to get a work visa to the UK) but it is for sure a problem if you post the videos and sell them, obviously. Even if you post them and DO NOT SELL ANY, you are attempting to receive payment, so don't post them and hope none sell.
It's complex, but the bottom line is this: if you do not have the appropriate visa, do not work. Full stop.

Re: Im cam modeling as an international student is it even legal ?
Well I learn something new everyday. In a couple years, I want to travel abroad to different countries and cam part time. I was under assume I could still cam. I am going to assume travel vlogs/blogs are technically illegal too.

Hmm I'm not law savvy at all. Well not in this anyhow. I know about animal related laws lol, so completely unrelated territory. I've got a few more questions for you.
1) Do vacations count? Does it vary depending on the countries? I know I was playing with the idea of camming while on vacations as an excuse to get a nice hotel and maybe use at least some of it as a right off.
2) Would raffles/ using vids as prizes still count? I read something in the past about something unrelated that made me think that prizes have a different set of rules, but it wouldn't have been related to this, so the same may not apply here.

Re: Im cam modeling as an international student is it even legal ?
I asked a professional immigration lawyer and he said its ok as long as im paying taxes , and my college said i should be fine so.

Re: Im cam modeling as an international student is it even legal ?
Note the words should be, it does not under any circumstances say you are ok to cam. The work you are doing needs a working visa not a student one a student visa us for those that are studying and work a little to help cover food or nights out, you will find you probably have a limit of how many hours you can work as well.

If you have had an immigration lawyer look at your visa, and your school has looked at your international student visa and they agree that your visa allows you to work off campus while in Canada, then you are fine. Thank you for taking this seriously.

1) It doesn't matter if you call it a "vacation" or not, if you are in another country working, you are WORKING.
2) In some places the raffles that camgirls run all the time are actually illegal because they count as a lottery and you need a permit :P Again, because you are receiving payment, running a raffle with prizes still counts as work and would be illegal if you do not have the appropriate work visa.
Some countries do not require work visas, but those countries are few and far between.

For the record, it doesn't matter AT ALL what you are studying, whether or not it would be okay to work without the appropriate visa.

Depends on whether or not you are being paid for them. Having advertising on a blog that gets you money because of the way advertising is structured, you are probably okay. Not sure about doing YouTube videos but again because the revenue is advertising because of where your home base is...tbh if you are writing/filming and posting from the road, I'd spend the $ and have a chat with a lawyer.
When in doubt, ask a lawyer. Y'all think I am kidding on that, but you can often find a decent lawyer who will sit down and give you a quick overview of the situation, and $200 is chump change compared to getting deported.
