Getting more fans (w/ a rant)
Okay, so I was on Amber Cutie's Forum reading and I like posting on this forum more, but I wanted to respond to some stuff that I've been reading over an over, and not just there. The thread there is just what triggered this.
It isn't all about drawing people in who are big spenders. It is also about making a big spender and sometimes this can take years. I can tell you that I've been following my favorite models for years and because she's still on, she now has me tipping her when I can manage to stay up late enough to see her. It's about salesmanship and drawing people in, not trying to focus just on the people with colored names. I had a grey who was fine personality wise who I chatted with and asked me for a video. I made it and he came back the next time I was on and bought it. It is about drawing those silent anonymous people in enough that they can't help but look you up to learn more about you. The people who do buy stuff from you are loyal and don't spread it around and the people who haven't bought anything finally get curious enough that they go buy your vids/merch.
And this isn't all about the model. It's about the fans and building a sense of community and a safe happy place where they can get away from the real world. I like token based sites from a psychological point of view because you aren't dealing with "real" money. You ware dealing with this fantasy equivalent.
Now I'm not knocking sites like SM. I haven't tried them and token sites appealed more to me from the beginning. Furthermore I think what works for each model will always be different. I do think that people need to open their minds and so long as those who aren't paying aren't being douches/trolls and are willing to learn to be more respectful, they shouldn't be automatically discounted. Granted they shouldn't be given extra attention, but hopefully your room will be so enticing and what you say will make them change their minds and decide to set aside a mere $5 a week for their favorite cam girl.
Okay, I'm done ranting. So maybe I should add a little more input about getting more fans.
Twitter is obviously a big one and setting up and using blogs regularly. Using several different sites, so you are getting more exposure would help too. Going on adult forums (which I haven't done yet, but want to) and engaging people. Then there is publishing stories to get your name out to a completely different type of crowd.
Personally I'm thinking I am going to expand this month. I will be opening clip stores, joining and posting on literotica, and finding a fun adult forum or two to chat on. I am already on Twitter and WordPress. My primary site is CB and I split with MyFetishLive. In June or July I want to try MFC and in order to do this I will mix up the days I'm on the diff sites and see how things go.
Oh additionally I'm planning a weekly calendar of themes, so if a person misses a day, they miss a theme. I hope this will encourage people to pop in more regularly. Though it will help when I have a more regular time schedule as well, which will happen in May.
I hope everyone is having a great time camming ^^ Cheers
I thought of something I wanted to add while out: A good cars salesman isn't the person who sells cars to people who came looking for cars. A good cars salesman is the person who sells a car to the random person who ended up in the dealership with no intention to buy a new car.
Re: Getting more fans (w/ a rant)
I think people who do well on token sites are usually those who have a natural disposition for it i.e. turning those the rest of us see as freeloaders into customers. In my personal experience I do not have time or patience for this. I do ok on MFC but i work it the same way i work private based sites - by waiting for the one guy or guys who LOVE me and will pay well from the start. I block basics on mfc and ignore greys on chaturbate. Imo if they like you enough they will pay from the beginning. It's all about working out what your time is worth. If you can make $100 an hour regularly by working it your usual way, why sacrifice some of that time in a 10/20/30 min conversation etc with a guy on the off chance he will perhaps become a customer? From a sales perspective that guy who was walking by the car lot is going to be attracted into the store to buy if he sees a que of interested customers already out the door, or sees a car he absolutely MUST have. Sure you might have missed an opportunity to gain a new spender, but then again you might not x

Ooh good perspective. Anyone else?
Re: Getting more fans (w/ a rant)
I used to do really well on MFC, but when Streamategate happened, something weird happened on MFC. Suddenly my nice cohesive chatroom community was filled with trolls and beggars and fighting and insane weirdness. I tried but I was never able to get it back to where it used to be and my earnings dropped, then tailed off to nothing. I couldn't explain it then, and I am still at a loss now to know what happened. I used to get a lot of trolls on MFC because I am not a barbie and I guess I was an easy target, but my room always shrugged it off and ignored it. But damn...it just all went wrong and there was no saving it.
I do miss it sometimes, I liked the vibe and it suited my friendly chatty style, but I just don't have time for token sites and building up a brand new fanbase right now because I am focusing on the currently lucrative and growing parts of my income equation.
Re: Getting more fans (w/ a rant)
Token sites have their strengths and so do private based sites. The best site for you depends on your own strengths and how well coordinates with either type of site. It's no use fighting the site and trying to succeed on it if you have hangups about other models who do things in free chat that you find disdainful. Do what you can with the tools you have and don't give a shit about other girls. Sure, you can try to learn from them and incorporate some of their techniques into your own hustle but no matter how hard you try, you will never be an exact clone, nor should you try to be.
Do what you want and be yourself. That's really the only way to success and gaining more fans. Make yourself the best you can be. If you start to hate what you are doing, change it, and make it what you want. When you enjoy what you are doing on cam it will equate to better earnings. Your fans will gravitate towards you because they can sense that energy. It's not something you can fake.

This is a great idea! :) And then the week you get your period, you could do a "Watch me exercise/dance on the Nintendo Wii" theme or something (wearing a tank top and shorts, or a sports bra and shorts).

I wonder what happened. I know every case is different and in reality I am barely a baby in this industry, so I have hardly seen anything so far. I will have to keep watching to see if I can see more of the trends.

You are right. I just felt bad that girls could be missing out on more money because of their attitude, but I'm not them and their situation and their experience could be drastically different from mine.
Thank you Hyori, I needed that tonight :) My grandmother died at the end of last year and I'm thinking about her tonight. One of the great speeches that was given about her is how she raised a family of hosts. I don't have the experience, but even I have the natural inclination. I am learning that as I cam on Chaturbate. I'm actually wearing a robe from her tonight because I wanted to think about her more. I don't even remember her that well, but the connection was still there and tonight I really want a little of her essence to rub off on me.

Ooh I didn't even think of that, that is brilliant! I ended up just rubbing myself to get off and doing long bjs my period week last time. I wanted to do exercise, but no one was interested. I bet if I do the calendar bit with it I'll get more interest :-D
