Ridiculous "sex trafficking" sting in Portland.
This has been going on in Portland a lot lately. The cops put up ads on dating sites to catch men looking to purchase sex. There is no "sex trafficking" going on, just lonely men try to buy a little affection. Since the cops have been busting the customers of prostitutes, I've notice an uptick in girls working outside again. I've seen girls working along 82nd ave obviously looking for customers.
This is the same strategy used in the war on drugs in an attempt to curb demand. We see how well that has worked out.

I wonder, do they REALLY think they are helping girls out doing shit like this? I am always baffled to no end why prostitution is illegal. Think about it: a girl who just turned 18 can travel to California to perform in a non-condom 10 man gang bang in porn movie but a lonely guy can't purchase some sex from a consenting adult who is willing to provide the service? Please. Decriminalize prostitution! It will make the true bad guys much easier to catch.

The government attempts to justify its most outrageous conduct under the guise of “protecting” us.

Election year. I'm glad I'm not dancing right now.

Thank goodness we have the government there to rescue us poor sex workers. After all, who would ever choose to work such a job in such an industry? Obviously if the government shuts down the demand for business, we won't have to work in it anymore and we'll be free to find an oppressive, restrictive, low paying office job somewhere and rejoin respectable society. Gee, thanks, Government. *eyeroll*

I never thought about it that way, but that's an excellent and insightful point.

Insane - there was no "trafficking" just an online lie. They didn't even "patronize" anybody. The police are helping only themselves.

Of course, they love the low hanging fruit..where I am, they pretty much build/built their careers on that. They're pretty low, themselves. Ok, I'll stop now

No, no..GO ON! We need to know the fuckery afoot.
Re: Ridiculous "sex trafficking" sting in Portland.
Interesting topic but the article leaves out a lot of info.
It sucks because there are cases of sex trafficking and those girls need help but at the same time there has to be a better way to distinguish the girls underage and forced into it vs the women who make conscious choice to go into this career. I wonder if these men thought the prostitute they were going to see was underage.

Yup. It is harder to get folks on board with the notion of allocating a lot of resources for morality policing. But LE organizations have learned that they get far more support when they spin it as an attempt to save girls from sex trafficking. For most of those who run active stings. I am sure that this truth is far less important than the message that allows them to conduct these expensive and mostly pointless enforcement activities.

That is the scam the government uses for everything. It is going to save us from __________________________________--(Fill in the blank)

Prohibition creates way more problems then it solves. Actually it doesn't solve shit! Its a form of control and as far as I'm concerned, our government and politicians are nothing more than a legal mafia and extortionists for their own gain. If prostition was legal it would reduce violence on sex workers, std rates, take it off the street where asshole pimps control shit, reduce illegal sex trafficking etc.. Then they could focus on the real crimes of underage sex trafficking and chimos. I don't understand why its anyone's business how people are making their money as consenting adults as long as everyone is legal age, consenting and not hurting anyone ( outside of Dom stuff etc). Our society shames sexuality at the same time glorifying violence. Makes no sense. How dare you like orgasms and having sex or being "human"... Enjoy your pathetic life of pleasures! Lol
