Does anyone use venmo for payments on shows? Is it safe to use? Also I set up my venmo account under my stage name. Will I be able to transfer money to my bank doing it like that?
at the bottom of their website it says "Venmo is a service of PayPal, inc." so... no.
I seen that as I was setting it up. Thats why I was worried about using it:( I let someone that I know from doing shows for before send me $20 thru venmo. I won't accept anymore payments in the future but only thing is I set up my venmo account with my stage name and not my real name:( I havent done the show yet cause he was running late for work. I wished Id asked here before taking the payment but he was in a hurry but then by the time we got it figured out, he had to go on to work anyways. Will I be able to get the money transferred to my bank since the venmo account is not under my real name? Or how else can I get the money?
Venmo is terrible! I used it for my vanilla life stuff, I needed to send some money to a friend and she asked if I use Venmo, I signed up (real name and real email, this isn't camming related) and after sending her the money, Venmo froze my account and asked for "extra verification". I looked up reasons why Venmo would do that (I don't mind submitting more verification, but make me do it BEFORE I fully sign up instead of freezing my account, you know?) and it turns out they've done it to other people as well who have "foreign" last names! I have an Indian last name, so of course....ugh. I found this article - http://valleywag.gawker.com/now-this...den-1647287245
Anyway I know they're "just complying with blah blah" but I have never had any other payment service do this to me!
You can look into adult friendly payment services, I know a few girls have been using My Secret Payment (thread here - https://www.stripperweb.com/forum/sh...ment-Processor)
You don't keep 100% but it's better than getting frozen or cheated out of your cash!
A lot of girls seem to be using Google Wallet lately...
Am I going to be able to get my money transferred to my bank account tho since the names don't match? I'm suppose to do the show tonight? :( Wonder if I could send the money back to him and ask him to pay another way?
Do you have any friends that know you cam and who has Venmo? Venmo keeps money in your Venmo account until you transfer it, so you could keep it there and have your friend buy something for you and use the Venmo balance to pay him/her back. Or, you could Venmo them and then have them send it back to a new Venmo under your real name.
It's against the venmo TOS to: use it for business transactions without having an approved business account; use it for "sexually oriented materials or services" or porn; give false or misleading personal info (such as your name); and conduct high risk transactions that could result in disputes or charge backs. They state that they can hold your account balance and/or issue a $2,500 fine if you break the rules and cause them "damages" (such as chargeback fees, investigation costs, etc.). In addition, it's likely that by accepting a transaction under a false name, you violated federal FDIC regulations. All it would take to get you in trouble is him contacting venmo to complain, and mentioning the nature of your transaction. That's a lot of risk for $20.
Whose idea was it to use venmo? Was he the one that pushed you toward using an adult-unfriendly processor? If he pressured you to do shows offsite before you did your homework and had the knowledge to be a safe indy cammer, I'd return the money AND block him. A good customer might suggest that they want to see you on Skype, but they will wait until you've done the research and gotten set up. A guy that pushes you into going offsite before you're ready is a bad dude who is trying to take advantage of you. It's much easier to get a dirt cheap (or free) show if the model doesn't know how to safely process payments, what indy models charge, and standard practices like minimum show lengths and not allowing the show to run over time. Guys that do that are hoping that you'll be so dazzled by a 100% cut that you won't realize how much he's getting for how little he's paying.
If I were you, I'd get signed up on CMD or another legit indy camming site asap. Tell your guy that it will be a few days before you can accept payments for Skype shows, and he can either wait a few more days, or if he must have a show now, he can pay your normal rates on whatever big box site you work. If he can't understand that you need a safe processor, he's a bad customer. If he isn't willing to pay more than $20 for a show, he's too cheap to be a good customer in the long run (even by indy standards, that's cheap - $3/min is a very reasonable rate, and 10 minutes minimum is pretty common, so for quite a few indy models, $20 will get you jack shit). I would recommend reading the CMD thread cover to cover if you want to offer indy shows - there is a lot of good info tucked in there.
Oh crap, I already transferred the money to my bank account before I read your post Magical_Hoohah:( Is there any way of reversing the transaction? I shouldve waited but I wanted to make sure the money would go thru before time to do the show:( Or do u think I will be ok as long as I don't take anymore payments thru venmo?
As far as cmd goes, I have a cmd account set up and I tried sending him thru there but he got a text message from his bank saying it was a hacked site. And it was his idea to use venmo cause I said no to paypal.
I think it's possible that this might be OK for you, so don't panic too much yet. It's possible that he wasn't trying to scam you outright, and just wanted a cheap show that would show up as venmo on his bank statement, because then he can tell his wife that he was paying a friend back for something.
I think that if he does decide to do a charge back, the most likely outcome is that you'll have to pay back the $20 and a charge back fee (maybe $50?). I think that if that happens, you should cooperate and add the money to your venmo account. It's possible that if that goes smoothly, the only info they would need to have about you is your bank account info, and they might never realize that you used a fake name. If you decided not to cooperate and just disappear or fight back, they can probably get your real info from your bank, and the outcome could get much more painful.
I think the normal time limit for filing a charge back is 60 days (I could be wrong, but that seems pretty standard), plus maybe a couple weeks before it's processed and you find out about it. Realistically, if he was planning to scam you, he will probably do the chargeback pretty soon. I'd try to squirrel away $70-100 for the next 2.5 months, just in case, and if nothing happens, you're probably ok. Just don't do it again!
As far as the excuse about the text from the bank, I can't imagine that that's true. When guys pay on CMD (and any site) their bank or credit card only deals with CMD's payment processor. His bank has no reason to know anything at all about what's going on with the CMD website itself. As long as the payment processor is secure, his bank wouldn't have the first idea whether the site had been hacked. Even if the payment processor had been hacked, no bank sends out texts saying that you're trying to make a purchase from a hacked website. They just give you some technical bank language and tell you the charge can't be completed. There are a LOT of guys that say this kind of bullshit to try to get you to use PayPal.
For future reference, don't compromise on your payment methods. If someone is having trouble paying, he can contact his credit card for help, and you can contact your site for help. Most legit problems can be sorted out pretty easily. If the dude has no interest in talking to customer service with the site or his credit card, he is being suspicious. Think about how normal people react when there's ANY problem with their credit/debit card - they freak out. If a guy got some weird card rejection notice from CMD, and he's like "Nah, I'm sure it's fine, I don't need to call about my card. So about PayPal..." that is VERY abnormal behavior, and a red flag. Using safe, adult-friendly processors is one of the important things we do to protect ourselves, and it's worth losing a show with a guy who won't use the payment methods you offer. Also, if a guy wants you to break a bunch of rules and compromise your legal and financial safety, what other ways might he disregard your safety and comfort?
Google Wallet is ending on the 31st of June anyway. I don't even think they're letting new accounts open. Venmo was gonna be my second choice but after reading the TOS never mind. This sucks. My regulars are sending Amazon GC's but sometimes I'd prefer to be able to pay my light bill instead of buying items.
I thought Google Wallet was just ending service for their debit card, I didn't know they were closing altogether.
I don't know why y'all think there's no options for taking payments for adult transactions online other than Amazon GC's, there's lots of indy sites that take a very small percentage and if you're that concerned about that percentage, just mark up your prices to make up for it.
