nosy landlords- sign to look for a new apartment?
Im doing apartment hunting right now and ran into a landlord with a management property grilling me about what i do. I didn't have this experience last time getting my first place. At my first place, literally all the property manager there did was ask whats my job title, how long ive been doing it and ive submitted an rental application then bam i was approved. He didn't ask me anymore questions.
However another agent i met with a few days ago wasn't happy with my brief description of my job. She asked 'so what does that mean' ' what does it entail?' I told her i do internet marketing (I say this as a cover up since i cam online), provided bank statements and my earnings info. Do you even bother to apply to a place if they are asking too many questions?

^ I doubt they will get more specific. I'd bail if they needed more info than an job title / bank statements because to me that's WAY too nosy given that you've already PROVEN your income.
If they press you can indulge them further and say you copyright, run FB and Instagram campaigns , and run Adwords campaigns . These are all realistic details but I wouldn't bother if I already gave them proof of income paperwork.

Yeah its definately too nosy. She even asked 'what kind of customers work with you?' LOL
On the application they even asked for a bank account # number. I asked why and she said 'the more the owner sees on your application the better'.
She said that the area im trying to move to is very competitive and they are looking for a person that over qualifies for it. I've only had this job for a year so i think that could be a mark against me on the application. I guess i should check out a different area since im trying to move asap.

In my experience, a lot of LL's are nosy cause they're worried if u can pay, but that does sound extreme

Ugh look elsewhere. I totally regret doing business with a nosy landlord...

As a landlord, I want to know what you do, how much you make how much you can document that you make from it, if you're all cash home, I'll usually ask for more of a deposit for more evidence
, I want to know that you got a background that's pretty clean and doesn't show any photos things that would make my other tenants on myself nervous
, and I will make sure your credit report shows that you're dealing with whatever issues you had and not creating new creditors mad at you
