Best - Top of the line laptops (QUALITY)
I would love any suggestions for some of the best laptops for streaming in HD (particularly only quad core i7 laptops). I plan on investing in a new laptop come Black Friday to catch a sale this year (= which would def help with split camming since the one I have now can't handle me splitting a lot. I would like the latest & upgraded of 2015 / 2016 versions. Interested in any list of helpful suggestions!!

Re: Best - Top of the line laptops (QUALITY)
Desktops are better as far as what'll get you the most bang for your buck. Definitely get a gaming laptop if you're going to get a laptop, but be prepared to drop more than $1000. if you can afford 16+gb of RAM, it's worth the investment.
Oh, and stay away from Dell. If I had it to do over again, I never would've purchased mine.

Thanks. I contemplating between a desktop or laptop but I love the mobility you have with a laptop VS. using a desktop computer.

Re: Best - Top of the line laptops (QUALITY)
HSN.com has desktops, that you can move around like a laptop. Lots of different brands. They're very impressive. They have large screens also.
I watched a presentation of one last week, and will be getting my next computer from them.
I bought my 17 15 inch Gateway laptop from HSN.
It arrived in 2 days...even with bad credit , they still let me make payments.

Hmm... I will look into those too, thanks girlie
ETA: Do you have the link of the presentation video? I would like to check it out

Re: Best - Top of the line laptops (QUALITY)
I have an Asus Rog gaming laptop and I love it. You should except to spent about $1,000 on a computer that's fast enough to handle things well. The one I have was the 2014 model and they no longer sell it, but there's newer ones you can get off Amazon. My videos save, convert, render so frikken fast! My only problem was that I got one with very little SSD storage. I was able to take out my CD drive (didn't need it anyway!) and put in a new hard drive so I expanded the memory. I haven't had any problems with it and it's made making videos a lot easier and faster.

Yasss... I'm interested in getting that one but still looking at other options as well. BTW, did you buy yours from Amazon?

Re: Best - Top of the line laptops (QUALITY)
I did get mine from amazon, I was lucky to have a lot of gift cards at the time, so I only spent $250 on my laptop instead of just under $1,000. I've had it for 7 months and had never had an issue!

Got my eye on the Asus Zenbook (= I was actually considering getting a mac but I hear it's harder camming from them?

Re: Best - Top of the line laptops (QUALITY)
I just ordered this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...9SIA77G3RA7792
I'd like more storage, but I thought it a good 1 for the price.
Yea the gaming lappies are best, but not right now for me

I actually had a DELL years ago & loved it... it finally quit on me last year so now I have a Lenovo. It's OK I guess.. it gets the job done but it's now time to upgrade!

I'm surprised you've had problems with Dell, I've had several Dell computers and never had a problem. /:O

OMG!!! Me too!!! I'm not a cam girl, just a computer geek, but like they said, if you need performance, a gaming system is the way to go. They are more expensive upfront, but are well worth the money and will last longer for practical use also.
I bought this computer back in September 2014 and still use it everyday and it still works great.

And I built a computer similar to this a few months ago and it can easily handle anything I run on it.

I'm the opposite..my 1st Dell (the 1 I ordered) & I have a Lenovo, I'm not crazy about it..I still have my Toshiba lappie, it's old tho. I just put in 'best selling', & the specs I want, or as much as I can get close to buying, that's how I chose the one I ordered.

Well, I'm not sure about camming w/them, but I heard (just what I heard so if it's not correct don't kill pls) that if there's a problem, you have to take it to an Apple place only t/be fixed OR that they're designed not to be fixed so you have to buy an upgrade?
Again, just what I heard.
I scanned an article about a guy that talked about this..he said he was determined to learn how to repair Apple.

Nope! I either upgrade myself or take it to a specialist just like any other laptop. Couldn't do without my mac!

Re: Best - Top of the line laptops (QUALITY)
Speaking of computers, who would pay me to set up and maintain their work computers/equipment? I already do it for some ladies here in town, so it's just a thought. I'm going back to school this fall for programming/development but have worked it telecom/IT for 12 years. Just wondering if that's something that's needed/wanted. I was doing some work on one of my laptops and was like sh*t, I'm glad no one can see my pics/vids lol. BTW I've been on SM since 2012 and CMD since 2014.

The old ones were awesome & lasted forever. The newer ones have tons of issues as far as reliability. For the amount you'd spend on a dell that's up to par for camming, you'd be way better off spending $100-200 more and having a gaming laptop that will last for twice as long.

Re: Best - Top of the line laptops (QUALITY)
Where though? I just bought the Dell I talked about above, & all the gamers I looked @ were way up there in price. On newegg.

Amazon. ebay has awesome prices too. Getting a laptop that will last and is top of the line is expensive no matter what brand you get. I dropped about $1300 on my dell two years ago. it's i7, 8gb ram, & 1t hard drive.... and I've had nothing but issues with it. most recently the keyboard went out. for $300 less on amazon, you can get this beast brand new.
I've never purchased a refurbished laptop, so I really can't speak to that. looks like you got a good deal though! What I do know is investing heavily in your tech pays off, especially if you stream on SM. I bet within the next 24 months 8gb of ram isn't going to cut it as their streaming requirements keep going up. I like buying tech I know I can use for at least a couple years.

Re: Best - Top of the line laptops (QUALITY)
I'm looking to upgrade as well specifically for splitting. Right now I'm camming on 2 computers and would like to be able to work on just 1. I'm not sure what specs are needed to be able to split because just having an i7 doesn't seem to be enough. So I'm looking at laptops with the highest specs in hopes that it will be able to handle splitting each site at their highest quality. Not sure what your price range is but the ones I'm looking at are pretty up there. Here are the ones I'm looking at......
GIGABYTE P35Xv5-SL3
XOTIC Sager NP9870/also availble here
ASUS ROG GL552VW-DH74
MSI GE72 Apache Pro-001
I've narrowed it down to the GIGABYTE P35Xv5-SL3 or XOTIC Sager NP9870. I think I may get the Asus or Msi in the future for personal use though.

Makes good sense, sure!^ I did want more storage, but I plan to add, we'll see. It's just my budget now w/meds & insur. Thanks for your imput!

Re: Best - Top of the line laptops (QUALITY)
This naughty little boy...if we hadn't already blown most of our tech budget this year I'd like to get one to try it out:
http://www.razerzone.com/store/razer-blade-stealth
6th Gen i7 processor, 3.0 USB, way over-powered for camming... ~$1000
Normally we don't recommend laptops at all, but this one has all the features EXCEPT a wired ethernet connection. You can get one of those put on the USB ports though fairly cheap.

Re: Best - Top of the line laptops (QUALITY)
Katy can you tell me what it costs? Im looking at the pro one but I cannot see the cost of it cause when I click on the link to buy and it takes me to the Spanish site where it is not available :(
Cant turn my VPN on right now cause of other programs running but I would love to just have an idea of what I would need to spend to lay my hands on a laptop like that!

Re: Best - Top of the line laptops (QUALITY)
In USD its about $1000 for the baseline model. There's various upgrades and add-ons you can get that will bring it to $1500, but all you really need is the USB 3.0 Ethernet adapter for about $20-30.
