Things you say that accidentally turn customers off
Earlier today I was thinking of ways to improve my hustle and I started thinking about things I've said that have accidentally turned customers off in the past. I'm interested to know, what are things you've said in the past that you didn't realize would be a turn off to a customer but was?

That's so dumb that customers decide a dancers age based on music. Especially since 90s hip hop is considered such an ironic hipster thing to be into lol.
I once made a bad joke about toilets as a newbie during a 3 girl dance relating to the occupation of the guy we danced for (he was a plumber lol.)

Lol. I agree, which is why I was surprised that it got that reaction from anyone. I figured it's better to be neutral about a lot of things when it comes to talking to customers and also avoid anything controversial like politics or religion. I think that's why the ditsy airhead persona works for so many girls.

Either he's an idiot or it was never about the music and it was just smthg else. I've made big convo faux pas like asking if they had a wife or gf or bringing up kids (yikes. I was a newbie) or just generally being unsexy and too buddy buddy or letting the convo go stale and uncomfortable silences take over.

That's a possibility as well. I also considered the fact that maybe I offended him because he liked that kind of music and he thought I was dissing his music taste lol. And I've been guilty of the unsexy and too buddy buddy thing too. I'm not a flirtatious or sexy person in real life so I had to learn to adopt that persona at work because it didn't come naturally.

Sometimes I try to bring up subjects based on the guys' lifestyle. If he's a traveling business man, I'll ask about his favorite cities/countries and try to find some common ground with that. I find it helpful to slow down my thought process and make mental notes of what he's looking to escape vs why he's come to my club.
I still have a bad habit of bringing up a customers occupation, however. I find it a challenge to divert the conversation from that so he doesn't keep thinking about work lol.

I once told a customer that he looked like Leonard from The Big Bang Theory. First of all, I think that dude's cute lol And I also meant it as in he was obviously taller, but the overall cute nerdy look was present. But apparently that did not come across, or this was just considered a terrible celebrity comparison no matter how I tried to explain myself... He got super offended and wouldn't talk to me anymore.
So... don't do that... lol

Was just going to say myself sounding too smart was a past mistake. It will only get you friendzoned or they just want to date you since they won't be able to objectify you anymore.

I worked at a really small club for about 3-4 years and it was widely known amongst the staff and other dancers that I was engaged. Which, eventually got to the regular customers (of the club, not of me in particular). Once word got around that I was not available it did mess with my money a little but not enough to warrant going to another club.
